It is said that the name “Himeji” originated from the fact that this area was once prosperous in sericulture, and silkworms were called “Himeko.” Himeji Castle was originally a fort on Mt. Himeyama, but it began to take shape as a castle when Akamatsu Sadanori built it in 1346 during the Northern and Southern Courts period. During the Sengoku period, Hideyoshi Hashiba (Toyotomi Hideyoshi), advancing his campaign in the Chugoku region, stationed his troops at Himeji Castle, surrounding it with stone walls and building a keep, thereby extensively remodeling the castle. After the Battle of Sekigahara, Terumasa Ikeda became the lord of Himeji Castle as a reward for his military achievements, and major renovations were carried out. The current tenshu that can be seen today was built during this time. In modern times, Himeji Castle survived the Boshin War and World War II, miraculously escaping significant damage and remaining preserved. 偶然写真に収めておりましたサグラダファミリアの魔方陣（cuadrado mágico）受難のファサードのキリストとユダの像の横。縦4列、横4行の魔方陣があります。16コマの中に数字がならんでいて、縦、横、斜めのどの方向でも数字の合計が33になるように作られています。普通の魔方陣では数字は1回ずつ使われますが、この魔方陣では、14と10が2回ずつ使われていて、12と16は使われていません。数字の合計が33になっているのは、キリストが磔にされたときの年齢が33歳だったためだそうです。他にもガウディに関するさまざまな意味があるのではと言われていますが、実際には受難のファサードの彫刻を担当したのはカタルーニャ人の彫刻家ジョゼップ・マリア・スビラックスで、魔方陣もジョゼップが作ったものだそうです。受難のファサードはキリストの死がテーマなので、彼の作風は合っているのかもしれません。 #sagradafamilia #サグラダファミリア #gaudi #ガウディ #worldheritage #世界遺産 #barcelona #バルセロナ #spain🇪🇸 #スペイン

Persian gardens may originate as early as 4000 BC, but it is clear that this tradition began with the Achaemenid dynasty around the 6th century BCE. Classical Iranians were seen by the Greeks as the 'great gardeners' of antiquity; Cyrus II (known also as Cyrus the Younger) is alleged to have told the Spartan commander Lysander that he gardened daily when not campaigning, and had himself laid out the park at Sardis, which he called his 'paradise' (a Greek corruption of the Old Persian word for garden). 軍艦島へクルーズ＆上陸🚢 当時に思いを馳せる… Gunkanjima (Hashima) Landing and Cruising - it was an awesome experience to know about the island which has flourished by coal mining originally started around the 19th century and finished the mission and closed in 1974. During this research trip, I finally got to see the magnificent Qasr Al-Ukhaidhir. The building has survived more or less intact, perhaps because of its remote location. A rare example of colossal Abbasid architecture, the palace still retains its grandeur, evoking the excesses of former times, when a complex of this scale could be built in the middle of nowhere. Rifat Chadirji immortalized it as one of the main references for his syncretic modernism. It is rewarding to study not only how Iraqi modern artists and architects established a dialogue with this heritage, but also, to appreciate it on its own, especially the experimentation said to have influenced the subsequent architecture of the Arab-Muslim world. While the site is hardly maintained, and can even feel abandoned, there is a whole desert ecology that has evolved there. I was surprised to spot numerous bats and pigeons, as well as some owls, hawks, dogs, snakes, and mice, among other species, coinhabiting those spaces. There are incredible challenges and contradictions in Iraq.
