'The Crab' at the Museum of Vancouver. Below this 20-foot fountain sculpture of a crab lays a time capsule. It's scheduled to be opened July 1, 2067. The sculpture was commissioned and gifted to the city by a local women's fundraising group. 'The Crab' stainless steel fountain sculpture was sculpted by George Morris. The Museum of Vancouver sits right on the waters of English Bay before the tide flows under Burrard Street Bridge and narrows into False Creek. The crab was chosen for two reasons to stand before the museum; the first because the Coast Salish consider crabs to be the guardians of the sea. Really enjoyed the van city energy yesterday and the rides on @falsecreekferry from Yaletown to Granville Island, then over to Vancouver Museum to see a couple of exhibits. Then to Yaletown Brewing to meet Gwen, and over to Pacific Cinematheque for an old movie, like really old with Jane Wyman and Rock Hudson! and then decadent dessert and special coffees. One exhibit was a gifted stash of vintage mahogany from Central America circa 1950s to 1970s with 31 local artists repurposing it and with funds going back to fund reforestation projects in Central America.
