These were for the team at Mains House Care Home in Newtonmore, nominated for our Business Fri-Yay Treats by one of the resident's daughters to thank everyone for their hard work looking after everyone! Moments like these ๐ bizarrely where instagram was actually the reality, for a few hours at leastโฆ . I was so proud riding with P and S today. Itโs what Iโve dreamed of when we had kids. . About 20 seconds after this video, Dan was pushing Soren, a bollard was coming up. Thinking heโd go round it, Dan pushed Soren to one side, peeling off to go round it himself. . Instead, what actually happened was that Soren stuck to Danโs side, smacking straight into the bollard, catapulting over the handlebars. I was behind and could see it coming in slow motion ๐ฑ . Amazingly (thankfully) S was ok ๐ฐ a wee cry, then distracted by a pheasant feather, back on like pro ๐๐ผ . And, what was in his Peter Rabbit backpack? There's 3 parts to a vanilla slice...*someone* messed 1 up! ๐ The pastry ๐ The custard ๐ The icing I (Jenni) make two of the three parts...Jazz makes the other. Usually, we work together well and create the perfect vanilla slice as a team! Today, it didn't quite work out ๐ Now, I'm not mentioning any names...but *someone* didn't quite get the ratios of their part quite right due to being a little tired and we ended up with runny icing. So, these are probably quite fun to eat, make sure you have a napkin (or two) to hand! UPDATE - you're all AWESOME ๐๐๐ Here's why ๐ I can't believe how many messages we've had offering to go to the shops for us or if you can help in any way, truly amazing! Thank you ๐ Unfortunately, for most of the things I needed ingredients for, I needed the ingredients early so I could either bake, cool and decorate something or have enough time for something to set...so, as AMAZING as the offers were, I was already past that point when I posted ๐ I have also been busy trying to sort out my car as I am needing to get my family to Aberdeen in time for their ferry to Shetland tomorrow to see my brother ๐ So, we are going back to basics today...lots of sweet and savoury scones (which is what everyone actually wants but they're the last thing I do and often run out of time for!) ...and maybe some brownies! Big shout out to Phoebe for grabbing me something I needed to make vanilla slices, though I think she had an ulterior motive (they're her favourite!) ๐คฃ Vanilla slices will be getting made AFTER the Pop Up, once the reserved slices have been boxed up I will post if there are any slices left to sell and can arrange collection for this evening! Co op is shut and I have no car to get to any shops ๐ฅ As I'm currently baking out of a small kitchen with little storage, it's not possible to get all our supplies delivered due to minimum orders...so, we rely on topping up the fresh ingredients we need from co-op. If you've not heard, co op is not open at the moment due to an incident that happened overnight...and I can't drive to Newtonmore or Aviemore until I have a new tyre ๐ Luckily, I had plenty of flour, butter and milk on hand so I've been cracking on with baking lots of our huge scones...using what I already had available for different flavours. I will post a list of flavours before we open...drop us a message to reserve any you would like! Unfortunately, this will further affect the variety of goodies we have available for today....which was already going to be limited as I have family staying and wasn't able to bake yesterday (eg the cakes are baked the afternoon before and then decorated fresh). Another day exploring (and baking)... An early morning baking and delivering brownies for the Fri-Yay Treats....I will post photos next week because there might have been a little whoopsie due to there being 2 "ELC's" in Aviemore ๐ But, that just means that two teams will have enjoyed some yummy treats! We've both had a BUSY day living life (plus some baking!) I (Jenni...cause Jazz isn't driving yet!) had an early start to pick up my family from Edinburgh Airport. My Mum, Step Dad and sister were a little shocked at the Scottish weather having just come from Israel...I tried telling them that this was the warmest day of the year so far, but they were still shivering in their coats and hats ๐ We then tried to tick all the boxes in Edinburgh in less than one day with the 4 of us probably having less than 10 hours sleep COMBINED! I lived in Edinburgh for a year after I left home. I probably did more touristy things today than I did in the that whole year ๐คทโโ๏ธ 23,000 steps later (with A LOT of elevation!) and I was almost ready for my bed by 6pm! But, then I clocked in for an amazing meeting (will post about it tomorrow), make some calls and do some baking.
