Average pace was all under marathon target, windy in places & a solo run (didnβt have my training partners @just_harry_running @ash.harrell this week to run with), with 14 laps round the same loop, thatβll get you mentally strong. I mean I did get the local legend with 35 efforts round the same section, that will be hard to beat for a week or so π€£ Still carrying a bit of a cold so it was snot central π€§ The π on the top was coming home to a shiny new pair of @saucony Endorphin Pro 4βs. A blast from the past β¦ βBeautiful Blastβ, 2004. A detail from the work βBoom Bang Boomβ, a 3.7m tall reinforced concrete monolith made in 2 parts - each 150mm deep, sandwiched together. The project was commissioned as part of the research, interpretation & design of Gunpowder Park directed by @ldadesign for client Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, Enfield. A former Royal Ordnance & Gunpowder manufactory. The site had been closed to the public for a century. I was project artist in creative collaboration with the design team. The work could be interpreted as a memorial stone; an emerging eulogy, an epitaph for a secret place closed to the public for almost two hundred years. An emphasis is placed on the narrative through the depth of the cast of individual words. There is a hierarchy of intent. The deeper the cast the stronger the shadow; the statement is more emphatic. Stainless steel letters reflect light and come forward or recede depending on the prevailing weather and light conditions. There is a rhythm to how certain words read together and a random, found quality to the grouping of others. There is no timeline here. The jumble of recall and presentation captures my experience and the trawling and dredging back and forth of information and experience over past decades. Today's parkrun was my best since it resumed after Covid. π The boy is back. Well, nearly. π Still way off where I was pre-pandemic, but that was then and this is now. I'm also 4 years older which doesn't help. π I'm now setting my sights on a sub-30 5k before the year is over. Over time, I have learned that the best way to think of Mountain Pose is to be mindful of the muscles that should be engaged and strong, but be extra mindful of the areas that should be tender and soft.β -Stephany McMillan I couldnβt have put it better myself.. so I didnβt! A pose I love to do during a sequence coming to stillness and calmness, sometimes just before or after a peak pose. As you can see here in my lovely mismatched gear I occasionally do this during a dog walk, to just βbeβ in the moment, nature and my surroundings. Iβm also sure my dog is highly confused at this point π€
