Here are two things you can do TODAY to move your GOALS forward 1) Take a FOCUSED action step. This doesn't have to be a huge chunk of time, but dedicating even 30 minutes to a specific task related to your goal can make a big difference. For example, if your goal is to learn a new language, set a timer for 30 minutes to practice. 2) Review and refine your plan. Too many times we neglect making adjustments when necessary. Taking a moment to assess your progress can be very helpful. Are there any roadblocks you've encountered? Does your current approach need tweaking? Maybe you need to break down a larger goal into mini goals.. It is so important to remember that only certain conditions and a certain degree of improvements are available from within the story whether it’s business or not. If you are living and creating from your story then only a few limited linear improvements are available no matter what you do. Why? Because the place that you are creating from is the MAIN DETERMINENT of what is being created. Who you are BEING is creating more than what you are doing. So therefore who you are BEING is more effective then what you are doing. If you are BE-ING your story (and let’s face it most people are for the most part) then you can only experience what fits into that. If your story is I’m not good enough, I’m not worthy, I’m not wanted then everything in your life, including business, will show up in correlation to that. Because the story has the power as long as you are BEING it. So how does this show up in business…here are just a few examples: Not showing up Fear of being seen - not being visible Not asking for the sale Massively undercharging for your services Not receiving any inquiries Not enough clients Not enough money Not enough opportunities Taking on clients that you know aren’t the best fit Having no or poor boundaries Overextending yourself Not giving yourself the support the you need Not trusting yourself or your power to create And these are just a few examples…. there are many more sneaky ones let me tell you. So as I’m sure you can now see, dissolving the story is essential if you want to create a successful business that is outside of the limiting confines of it. Then of course you show up for the strategy. And it’s so interesting to notice how everything becomes a lot less complicated (not to mention abundant) when the story is no longer the CEO. Here’s how we do it: Step 1️⃣: Inventory all the behaviors that are not working for you (i.e. lack of boundaries, can’t say no, working after the kids are asleep, deprioritizing self-care, etc…) so that we can uncover the mindset that is driving that behavior. Step 2️⃣: learn and implement the tools to reframe your thinking so that you can begin to, more easily, implement new boundaries and behaviors that will have you ending work on time, slowing down your brain, being present with your family and making decisions to prioritize yourself. Over the past 6 years I have discovered that most overworking behaviors stem from just 3 mindsets (I listed them above in the old/new list) and because I have worked with hundreds of working moms over the year I have gotten good at knowing exactly which one it is. I can figure it out and we can begin to make real change in about 2 – 3 sessions. What do getting to meet my friend’s sweet Momma and daughter, drinking a peanut butter milkshake, and pouring my first homemade candle have in common?🤔 They are all things that I am grateful for today!😉 I try to practice what I preach and take the time to acknowledge at least 3 things I am grateful for each day. Some folks like to write it down in a gratitude journal, while others prefer to acknowledge it silently before nodding off to sleep or praying or meditating. But why, you ask? It’s all about retraining your brain to focus on the positive. Cuz believe me, it’s already REALLY good at honing in on the negative. That’s its job after all, to scan for threats and imagine the worst all in a bid to keep you safe. As your life and leadership coach, I believe in taking the time to slow down and notice the little things, and the big thing, that are good. Reminding yourself that you have so much to be grateful for right now. Regretting what you think you lost in the past or obsessing about the future and what you still don’t have is such a waste of your precious energy, friend. I learned from so many remarkable leaders to take the time to be grateful for who I am and where I am right now. So here’s your Monday challenge: Write down or think about 3 things you are grateful for right now. Big, small. No matter. It ALL counts. Try it for just a week. I was talking with Elle Steele @thecosmicceo_ the other day around the societal conditioning, especially as females, of saving the "nice" things for "special occasions" and how it limits you from being your fully expressed self. How one is kept in constant holding pattern and questioning of " Is this (aka I ) special enough?" It came up as we were discussing my recently purchased fake fur jacket. Something that I had always wanted. And I caught myself in this very limiting mindset. Then she dropped a truth bomb that reminded me that even as a Soul-Alignment and Embodiment Coach, dismantling patriarchy is an ongoing process. She said, "Babe, you are the special occasion." Luckily this trend is quickly changing, but not only because Google is playing hard to get with all the recent updates and more people being aware that the fast pace of some social media platforms is lifedraining. I have no proof or doubts that we have been experiencing a shift in marketing strategies since early 2023. More and more entrepreneurs and small business owners are trending towards community-building marketing. The fear is supposed to arrive. It’s showing you how much of your past is still present, how much survival is running the show and what needs to be cleared for you to fully receive what you want. Without this awareness you may believe your fear, think that your goal and you pursuing it is dangerous and therefore never get to live it. This might be controversial, and I might even have people who stop following me if I tell you this, but here goes… 👌 It’s OK to work late 👌 It’s OK to log back on after your kids are asleep 👌 It’s OK to be checking your email while also making dinner There are no hard rules when it comes to creating the ambitious and balanced life you want. There’s a lot of people out there that would tell you that you should be focused on your kids when you’re at home. They tell you that you should rest and take care of yourself at night, because work can wait. And yet, it doesn’t always work that way. Work-life balance is more of an ebb and flow, not hard and strict rules. The question always comes down to: are you living by your decided priorities? If you average 50 hours of work a week, but you love your job, and when you’re with your kids, you’re able to shut it off and be present and feel connected, then the amount of time you work or even when you work doesn’t matter. I teach my clients, not how to live by rules, but how to live consciously and proactively. Reactive overworking comes from a place of not enough. “I didn’t get enough done today, I’m not good enough” or even a feeling of needing to prove myself. Proactive overworking comes from strategically, looking at your time, energy, priorities, and goals, and deciding ahead of time how you’re going to make it all work. Notice how different that feels. Reactive overworking leaves you feeling exhausted and not enough. Proactive overworking leaves you feeling in control and focused. 20% of listeners said, "YES!" 80% of listeners said, "I'm working on it." The question, "Why talk about freedom? Aren't we all free to do what we want?" is always welcomed. It reminds me that each person approaches conversations about well-being from different perspectives. Imagine the types of danger a bird and a snake might be in if they should trade places. Although both are presumably free, their experience of freedom has limitations. A wingless snake will never be able to fly through the air. When that happens, it's typically because it's been captured by a flying predator. Likewise, a bird can't spend every day walking on the earth. If it did, it would be easy prey and never travel as far. Doing what we want is only beneficial when we know the implications and can find solutions to challenges. What feels like freedom to one person might be a prison to another, even when the person believes it is what they want. But more importantly, some beliefs about what we should want or do can be limitations that endanger our well-being. So, any conversation about freedom is less about doing what you want and more an invitation to ask, "Is this safe?" or "Does this feel good to me now?" If the answer is no, change course, desire, and belief. Doing so allows you to live freely in your true identity without harboring desires to become something else. A snake will only be a snake. A bird will only be a bird.
