MEET OUR WONDERFUL HOST — HERMIONE EFSTRATIADOU Hermione Efstratiadou (she/they) has been working in the film industry for the last 5 years. She graduated from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where she studied Journalism and Mass Media. She has worked as a consultant on film marketing and distribution for projects and films that participated in major international film festivals such as Cannes, Berlinale, Tribeca, Locarno, Karlovy Vary and IFFR. Her experience includes her work as a producer’s assistant for DOGWATCH by Gregoris Rentis, (Visions du Reel 2021) and as an associate producer for TILOS WEDDINGS by Panagiotis Evangelidis (Thessaloniki Documentary Festival 2022). She also collaborates with Thessaloniki International Film Festival, as a member of the Agora Team. Since 2024, she has joined Argonauts Productions. I wrote The Pigeon last year for 3 reasons: 1. As a way to process my grief of losing my aunt to su*cid3 2. To give myself a creative outlet that could also be lighthearted and funny 3. This time last year, I wrote & directed my first short film Cerebria, which won 2 awards: Finalist at the Independent Shorts Awards in Los Angeles in July 2023 and Quarter Finalist at the Vancouver International Movie Awards. This sci-fi-thriller-comedy explores the complicated relationship between humans and AI. All the filming took place in my townhome and my local neighborhood bar, the Zoo.
