Astoria, Oregon is a town filled with breweries and we were honored that Buoy allowed us to feature their space AND beer in “For When You Get Lost”. Last year a portion of their building suffered significant damage. Although unfortunate, it was beautiful to see how the town of Astoria came out to support. We are so excited for another Thirsty Thursday!! This week our Brewery Spotlight is on the fantastic Redwood Curtain Brewing Company. Our writer, Jennifer Sorenson, discovered this gem ten years ago on her way back from Washington. There was sawdust on the floor, a band, and a hot dog stand. She fell in love. The team of “For When You Get Lost” is proud that most of their brewery partners are owned or co-owned by women, including @redwoodcurtainbrewing . Co-Owner Amanda Mollberg stayed up with us all night to let us film, both in the restaurant side and the brewing facility! Her generosity was overwhelming. Our first Brewery Spotlight! Happy Thirsty Thursday! In May 2022, Jennifer Sorenson (a former Moylan's employee) “borrowed” the Beer Garden to film a scene for a movie she wrote called “For When You Get Lost”, a story about family, death, and beer- inspired by a road trip Jennifer took alone in 2013. On the real journey, Jennifer planned her trip around breweries up the Pacific Coast because she knew the brewery scene well, from her years at Moylan's. In the movie, the main character drags her sister up the coast and says, “Remember when I worked at that brewery?… We were like a family.” That line references Jennifer’s real experience at Moylan's. In fact, Jennifer’s love of brewery culture (which led to the concept of a brewery road trip) grew out of the friendships and adventures she had going to beer festivals and waiting tables at this family-owned establishment. Sending some love to our friends at @buoybeer whose roof collapsed this past week. ♥️♥️♥️ The #womenowned Buoy Beer was one of the very generous breweries who allowed us to film in their facilities. They let us in four hours before opening and laid out the welcome mat for us. They waited patiently as extras and @bobvsso even played a role! If you’re in the #pacificnorthwest pick up a six pack this weekend. Their brewing facilities are still intact. That’s a wrap! 🎬 There were 10 of us. And for the past two weeks, we’ve been hunkered down, caravaning north from LA to the tippy top of Oregon, to make this special little movie, Cherry Raisins. I didn’t realize how much was going to be asked of me when I signed on. I certainly didn’t realize how much I was going to be asking of the other nine! We all wore at least 10 hats each, many at the same time. We all had highs and lows, exhaustion and elation. And we’re all better filmmakers for it!
