11 women, several who we’re complete strangers pulled into a Trail Head in the Red River Gorge on Friday morning and embarked on a weekend of encouragement, positivity, laughter, inappropriate language, perseverance, and strength! We were from many places, different backgrounds and stories, different ages, different reasons for booking the trip but we entered the woods together on Saturday morning and exited the woods together Sunday afternoon. It wasn’t all easy, but it was so worth it! I struggled on day 2 and I sure have the bruises to show for it! 😂 Carrying a 30-35lb pack on your back while you hike is no joke! Thankful for an amazing guide who taught us so much from filtering water, setting up camp, and much more! We hiked up to the ridge-top, down to the stream and back up many times. I think by the time we reached our campsite, our elevation gain was around 1200 feet. Last Thursday I tried something new! I went to VA with complete strangers to learn wilderness survival, self defense, and hike the Triple Crown. I learned so much and met many like minded women.
