By the end of the hike they were taking a slightly more direct route. Preserved in stone from the land before time. 100 million years ago this was just another typical spot for dinosaurs to congregate. We see their footsteps and their bones, first preserved in mud, which eventually turned to stone after millions of years. The first two tracks were left by Theropods (the umbrella term for 2 legged dinos like T-Rex) The fossil bones are from Sauropods (think “long necks”)

The park has timed entries to hold down the number of visitors and we had a 1pm time slot. That worked out well because we stayed until 8:30pm and the crowds dwindled down in the late afternoon and evening. 💐Mother's day request for me was going to Arches NP for a sunset, and it was beautiful ☀️ We are about 15 minutes from Arches, so we will have plenty of opportunities to visit this magnificent park this summer. ✨️Did you know?✨️ Arches requires a timed entry ticket for your vehicle, which is different from your park pass, from 7 AM until 4 PM? Outside of those hours though, you may enter without one. Today was our last day waking up in the desert. This view really wasn’t what we first saw, but we had to wake up at 5 o’clock in order to make it into the park before the time ventures because we forgot to do that day exploring hiking to the delicate arch viewpoint to balance and landscape. Skyline Arch, located within Arches National Park gets its name from its position on the horizon. The arch stands 77 feet high, and in 1940 a large boulder fell from it, doubling the size of the opening to its current size of 33 feet across. Fractured pieces of this boulder still lie at the base of Skyline Arch.
