Our last day of our trip was again spent in Utah! This time we visited Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse State Park which were both beautiful! Blue hour is the time of day when the sun is below the horizon but there is still light in the sky. So just before sunrise, or right after sunset. Iโve said for *years* that blue hour is one of my favorite times to photograph. The sky is ombre cotton candy colored and the landscape is cloaked in a soft blue light. Itโs so fun to play around at this time, especially with orange colored light to complement the blue hued landscape. I was looking through my Insta feed, and I realized that almost 50% of my more recent photos were taken during blue hour. So if that doesnโt prove that itโs a great time to photograph, then I donโt know what is. Dead Horse Point State Park outside of Moab, UT is beautiful. We arrived after a rain and we watched the rain move away in the distance. You can see both the Colorado River and Canyonlands National Park with spectacular mesa views. Thelma and Louise and parts of Westworld have been filmed here. The name is supposedly because the area made a natural corral for horses, where some died from exposure. There are two viewpoints you can drive to, then you can hike to the rest. One of my favorite state parks ๐คฉ Utahโs state parks are just as incredible as their national parks, so a state park not to be missed is Dead Horse Point State Park. Itโs basically a mini Canyonlands, and it has always been pretty empty in my experience. Itโs actually a little closer to Moab than Canyonlands, which is another 15 minutes away. $20 per vehicle entrance fee. Donโt miss this state park on your trip to Utah!

An exceedingly scenic 13.5km ride around Dead Horse Point State Park canyons. It was my favourite ride of the trip. #moab #deadhorsepointstatepark The U shaped section is Dead Horse Point, in the early 1900s, the point was used as a corral for wild mustangs roaming the mesa top. Cowboys rounded up these horses, herded them across the narrow neck of land and onto the point. The neck, which is only 30-yards-wide, was then fenced off with branches and brush. Horses often died of exposure.

Carried her a good bit of this one because of the heat but still so proud as we inch our way along to our #100hikes goal! Saw a woman with no hair on the trail and felt compelled to make a connection (it was very organic, not as odd as it sounds typing it here). Turned out she had alopecia, but the woman she was hiking with asked me what kind of leukemia Bellamy had, then proceeded to tell me about her older son who had ALL so many years ago and is doing fabulous. Sometimes magic just happens, and the universe pulls you together with people, so you feel a little less lonely.
