Continuing the story from my last post but one... This was our second day in Zion National Park. We had completed the Emerald Pools and Riverside Walk Trails the previous day having been unlucky in the ballot for the opportunity to hike Angel's Landing. On day two however, it was a different story. Here we are pictured at the star of the hike, known as the most deadly hike in the US. The night before I'd surprised the gang having managed to secure permits in the lottery. It turned out to be one of the highlights of the whole trip. Highlights of Angels Landing 💫 • 🥾 Angels Landing 4.3 miles, 1,827 elevation+ 🎟️ Permits are required and enforced for the chain section. You can apply via the seasonal lottery at recreation.gov. The next seasonal lottery opens July 1st for fall hikes Sept 1st - Nov 30th. There is also a daily lottery system available, with limited permits to be released the day before your hike 🚌 Private vehicles are NOT allowed on Zion Canyon Scenic Drive during shuttle season which is usually from March - November and the holiday season near end of December. Check nps.gov for the current shuttle times. 🅿️ Parking is available at the visitor center, where you can also board the Zion Canyon Line Shuttle. Get there early! One of the highlights of our spring break was the opportunity for me to do a mother & son hike in Zion National Park. If you know about Angels Landing, you know that it’s not for the faint of heart. One of my absolute favorite hikes. The Narrows. Hiking through the ice cold water is therapeutic for your legs. The canyon is incredibly deep. 2000+ feet to be exact. Just a dream. 10/10 would do again. The first shot was a 30 second long exposure. But the trick is keeping the camera steady in the middle of a flowing river. The second shot is the BTS. Needless to say, I didn’t skip leg day that day 😮💨

Zion National Park is something else! 🤩 About 3 weeks ago while visiting the southwest, I didn't get the Angels Landing Permit so I hiked the Observation Point Trail instead. The view was unbelievable. The trail was almost empty (I did start pretty early) and since the parking lot is basically the back door to Zion, you avoid having to take the shuttle and the boards of people. Highly recommend if you make your way to Zion and want the views you get at Angels Landing. 📍Zion National Park All the stars seemed to align with our trip to Zion✨ We won the lottery for the permit to hike Angel’s Landing the first time we applied, the weather was absolutely perfect for the hike, and we met a fellow hiker who had so many amazing recommendations for us. Hiking Angel’s Landing was absolutely amazing. It wasn’t crowded at all (contrary to many of the horror stories we had heard)! The views from the top were incredible, but the journey to and from was honestly really fun. I (Bec) am not personally afraid of heights so the sheer cliffs didn’t bother me… Nic on the other hand is not the biggest fan of heights and sometimes gets a little vertigo when he looks down BUT he said that only felt nervous a couple times and overall had no problems with the heights!
