Natasha Moody’s focus is rooted in wooded landscapes that have undergone periods of urbanisation and commercial forestry management in both the UK and Poland. Moody is a British/Polish artist with an MA in Fine Art and History of Art from The University of Edinburgh and an MA in Art and Ecology at Goldsmiths. We are thrilled to announce that the RENSEP Tandem Paper Prize has been awarded to Steve Patterson and Jeff Howard (@gamemagicarcana) for their paper titled “To Reveal the Hidden Kingdom of Eld: Andrew Chumbley, the Cultus Sabbati, and Imaginal Space in Cornwall.” The paper will soon be published on the RENSEP platform. . Dr. Jeff Howard is a scholar of occulture and esotericism. He works as a Senior Lecturer in Games at Falmouth University in Cornwall, where he specializes in the occult and games. He is the author of two monographs Quests: Design, Theory, and History in Games and Narratives (now in its second edition) and Game Magic: A Designer’s Guide to Magic Systems in Theory and Practice. He translates theory into practice as a core team member of Apocalypse Studios, where he consults on worldbuilding and systems design. . Steve Patterson is a folklorist, outsider researcher, author and artist who lives and works in west Cornwall. He is the proprietor and curator of Gwithi an Pystri – the museum of folklore and magic in the maritime town of Falmouth. He was deeply involved with the growing pagan earth mysteries movement in the West Country from the 1980s onwards. Moody was nominated as the winner of the award for her new project titled “Ghosts of the Great North Wood: Alchemising Ecological Grief.” . The award was given in partnership with Arts University Plymouth and aims to foster new research at the intersection of artistic and esoteric practices. . Natasha V. Moody’s project delves into the intersection of art, ecology and the esoteric and examines the role of esoteric practice in the face of anthropocentric poly-crisis. Natasha will use alchemy as a lens to consider our human relationship to the natural world, explore the archetypal forest as alchemical space and the practice of conjuring ghosts of lost landscapes. . Natasha V. Moody is a British and Polish artist working across sculpture, installation, photography, and writing. Deeply rooted in the cultural symbolism of plants and occult histories of visioning the unseen, her practice invites viewers into a realm where plant material becomes a conduit for ecological reflections and mystical encounters. In this three-week summer course, hosted on site at the University of Amsterdam, you will study with some of the most respected academics in the fields of esotericism, alchemy, gnosticism, art and occultism, conspiracy theories, the New Age, and psychedelic culture. The RENSEP artists award has a winner!🥇 . We are delighted to announce Natasha V. Moody as the winner of the award for her project titled "Ghosts of the Great North Wood: Alchemising Ecological Grief." . Natasha’s project will delve into the intersection of art, ecology and the esoteric and examine the role of esoteric practice in the face of anthropocentric poly-crisis. The project will use alchemy as a lens to consider our human relationship to the natural world, explore the archetypal forest as alchemical space and the practice of conjuring ghosts of lost landscapes. . Natasha V. Moody is a British/Polish artist with an MA in Fine Art and History of Art from The University of Edinburgh and an MA in Art and Ecology at Goldsmiths. She specialises in intermedia art practice and fin-de-siècle occulture. Her work integrates the occult and ecology in artistic practice across sculpture, installation, photography, and writing. Natasha's artistic practice invites viewers into a realm where plant material becomes a conduit for occult encounters and ecological reflections. By Prof. Dr. Birgit Menzel (CAS-E) . Abstract: “In an interdisciplinary project on esoteric practices from a global perspective translation is omnipresent. However, both translations and their agents often remain invisible. Texts, terms, ideas, and cultures are being translated, in written, oral or intersemiotic ways; often the term is used in a metaphorical sense. The same invisibility applies to the social and political role of the translators. Scholars and practitioners are often unaware of the fact that they serve as interlingual and/or intercultural translators. They are social agents, who make choices. But why and how do they make their choices? In an increasingly monolingual global English academic community, many obstacles pass unnoticed. Scholars of various cultures convene, often unaware of the constant bumpy road of translation n they ride towards the goal of global communication. Translation can connect and mediate; but it can also create boundaries. Some translations become dominant hegemonic, others are deviant, innovative or even transformative texts. This is especially significant in the context of esotericism (‘rejected knowledge’). Translation Studies offer tools for a critical and more self-reflexive action when studying religious and esoteric practices. In this lecture, I will explore in which ways Translation Studies could cross-pollinate the study of esotericism. I will introduce a culturally oriented approach (microsociology of translation). Currently undertaking a PhD entitled ‘Occultural Production as Re-visionary Mythmaking’, they remain a practicing filmmaker, artist, and all-around creative media practitioner. As a media professional of over twenty years, Cavan has been involved in almost all aspects of audiovisual production, specialising in video art, music videos, and visual poetry. The essays in ISLAMIC ECUMENE edited by David S.
