Meet Marc Philipp, he says "Hey, I wanted to briefly introduce myself. I’m Marc and I’m 28 years old. When I was 14, I lost my hand during an internship at school. I rolled over with a tractor on a farm and my hand was so badly injured that it couldn’t be saved. After half a year, I was released from the hospital. Without my family and friends, I couldn't have coped with my accident, and I'm incredibly grateful to them. At 16, I tried weight training but did it half-heartedly. After getting married and having three children, I wanted a change. With twins and an eight-year-old, life is stressful, but a new sports prosthesis helped me exercise effectively. My old prosthesis had always set me back. In September 2023, my best friend, a personal trainer, suggested I restart weight training. He coached me on nutrition and training, motivating me to walk 17k steps daily. Since that day, I haven’t missed a workout, haven’t cheated on food a day, and have walked at least 17k steps every day. My progress motivates me every day! In September I weighed 92 kg, after my first diet I had reached 77 kg, and I’ve been building up since then. My goal is no longer to be noticed just because of my handicap, but rather because of my body. “You are given compassion, you have to earn respect.” Thank you for sharing, @no.excuses95! We are seeking an Information and Referral Specialist to join our Support Services team. As an Information and Referral Specialist, you’ll play a key role in connecting community members with resources and tools to support their limb loss and limb difference journey. Here’s what you’ll be doing… • Connecting with Community: Provide concise, accurate, and timely information in response to all phone, email, written correspondence, web-based submissions, and online forums from community members, family members, and professionals in the limb loss and limb different community. • Combing the Web: Effectively searches various databases and websites to provide accurate and appropriate responses to inquiries. • Expanding our Resources: Assist with researching new referral resources in the U.S. and internationally, focusing on resources in underserved and unaffiliated territories. • Growing your Knowledge: Review limb loss and limb different-related news items, newsletters, and journal articles directed to information staff to acquire up-to-date knowledge and enhance their ability to address new client-initiated questions. • Managing and Tracking Data: Enter all essential demographic information into the consumer inquiry database (Salesforce) to facilitate rapid, accurate, comprehensive statistical reporting and data transfer. PATIENT HIGHLIGHT🌟🦿 “Once the sole provider for his family, Elmer’s life took an unexpected turn in 2020 when he lost his leg due to complications from diabetes. This was a devastating, as he was unable to continue his livelihood as a driver and house painter, both jobs that required mobility. Struggling to adapt to life with crutches, Elmer found himself facing immense challenges in providing for his wife and four children. Despite his disability, he refused to give up. It was through Mabuhay Deseret Foundation that he learned about 2ft Prosthetics. With the help of a prosthetic leg, Elmer’s world changed. No longer confined to crutches, he regained his independence and mobility. He was enabled to returned to his passion for entrepreneurship, deciding to raise chickens for a living.The prosthesis not only allowed him to walk independently but also opened doors for him to expand his business. With the ability to move freely, Elmer could now ride a motorcycle and deliver poultry products directly to his customers. Elmer’s resilience and perseverance not only transformed his life but also inspired those around him. Despite the challenges he faced, he refused to let his disability define him. Through hard work and determination, he not only regained his livelihood but also found a renewed sense of purpose in his life.”

Meet Mary Grace Aclan, she says "For 19 years, I’ve been using a cosmetic foam cover on my prosthetic leg as my way of blending in and providing a sense of normalcy. It’s been a year since I made the decision to remove the foam and show off my bionic leg. There are both pros and cons but on the brighter side, embracing the bionic look has given me the sense of pride of who I am. It’s like saying, “Hey world, this is me, take it or leave it.” Sure, there’s more staring and attention now, but I’m cool with that. I see it as a chance to spread awareness and maybe even inspire someone along the way. When people ask about my bionic leg, I feel like it’s a chance to educate, inspire and show them what’s possible. It’s not just about me; it’s about breaking down barriers and making society more inclusive. Showing off my bionic leg might turn some heads, but it’s all good because through openness and resilience, it challenges societal perceptions of disability and encourages inclusivity, contributing to a more compassionate and accepting society."
