Hello Dreamers 💫 A Challenge and a Friday Flatlay in one! I was tagged by @misspurrpurrback to do a challenge called: Something old, something new, something gifted and something blue. Old: A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens. This edition was printed in 1922. This book belonged to my grandfather who got it from an English friend during WW2. It's quite literally falling apart, so I don't take it out very often, but it's one of the few things of my grandpa I still have. New: A Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern. This is one of my most recent purchases. I love the Night Circus so I'm very curious about this one. Gifted: Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alex E. Harrow. I got this one from my colleagues (we have a little bookclub) for my birthday back in November. Also haven't read it yet 🙈 Blue: The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton. A book set in my country, the Netherlands. So blue is a typical colour (aside from orange naturally). I hardly ever hear people about this book, and it's such a good story! In partnership with the Kansas City Star, Missouri Repertory Theatre (KCRep) held a Victorian celebration in 1993. The Exhibition Hall at Municipal Auditorium in Downtown Kansas City was turned into 19th century London, built by the same theatrical professionals who constructed A CHRISTMAS CAROL and designed by Bruce Hermans. At the Dickens Holiday Fair, guests were able to enjoy music, theatre, carolers, puppet shows, glorious food, costumes, and more! The MRT team created six days worth of holiday magic over the course of two weekends. Model: 19 "A Christmas Carol" 2010 Christmas special My first 11th dr model on this journey and its a personal favourite of mine! I knew from the start that I wanted the model to include the great white shark but wasn't sure what scene yet. While making the scene in which the 3 ride the shark in the sky it was little hard to achive. But I also liked the idea of having the scene in which the shark gets its head stuck in the door of the wardrobe. This was also a far easier idea to achieve and in my opinion a much more fun model. Making the main set was an easy build this time around. Making a room with a main door and having shelfs for the wardrobe with the odd book added out off strong card. I made sure to make the door at a side angle so there would still be room to place the shark behind the door. I then cut the head off the shark just before the fin and at the start of its gills. Then i stuck it between the cardboard door. Then once it was finished I could just glue the door to the frame. I added details to the frame using cocktail sticks which meant I could also add broken pieces to show the force of the shark charging at the door. I then painting the shark a new colour to match the one in show which turned out great, even if the teeth are alittle small on this toy. Then i finally added an 11th dr to finish off the scene. I originally was going to use a warlord gaming miniature, but it looked way to small next to the shark toy. The figurine collection had just the right scale. I decided to give the figurine a new coat of paint to match the lighter jacket seen in the episode. I also added a line of wire to make the overall scene look like when the dr uses his sonic to get a fish to appear but then gets a shark. It's an odd one but I'm very happy with it.
