Oggi ricorre il 79° anniversario dello sbarco in Normandia. Quest'anno vogliamo ricordarlo, omaggiando uno dei tanti eroi silenziosi, che quel giorno d'inferno sbarcarono sulle coste normanne. Waverly B Woodson Jr, era un sergente medico americano del 320°battaglione mongolfiere di sbarramento, questo battaglione era composto da soldati afroamericani. La mattina del 6 giugno del 1944, Waverly stava sbarcando con la terza ondata su Omaha Beach su un mezzo LCT, quando il mezzo fu colpito da colpi da 88 mm facendolo sbandare alla deriva. Il sergente ferito da schegge alla gamba riuscì lo stesso ad arrivare sulla spiaggia e dopo essersi curato le ferite, dietro ad un costone roccioso allestì un stazione di medicazione sul campo insieme ad altri medici. Dalle 10:00 di quella mattina fino alle 16:00 del giorno successivo curò ben 200 soldati, tra questi anche tre soldati inglesi con la respirazione artificiale che erano stati sommersi dopo l'affondamento del loro LCT da sbarco. Today marks the 79th anniversary of the D-Day landings. On 6th June 1944, the largest seaborne invasion in history took place. The artwork shows 2nd Rangers scaling the cliffs on the western side of Pointe-du-Hoc. They attempted to surmount the cliffs before the German defenders could recover from the preliminary air-attacks and naval gunfire. The plans hinged on the use of rocket-propelled ropes with grapnels fired from the decks of the LCA to assist the climb, as can be seen on the right side of the illustration. ❄️Sortie de la poche de Tcherkassy, 16 février 1944❄️ En attendant de nouvelles sorties, je voudrais partager mes bons souvenirs des sorties les plus authentiques et mémorables. En février 2012, j'ai eu l'honneur d'accompagner en tant que photographe militaire les groupes de réconstituteurs representant les unités d'armée "élite allemande" *restons vagues 😅* qui ont été encerclées à la fin de janvier 1944 à côté de la ville Tcherkassy (Ukraine). Pour ressentir la douleur et les difficultés des troupes allemandes pendant l'hiver de 1944, nous avons répété l'itineraire exacte de sortie de poche dans la nuit de 16 février 1944. Pendant cette nuit, nous avons parcouru 16 km à -17C et la neige allant jusqu'au genoux. 🇨🇵 • L'opération Martin (rouge) était une opération clandestine alliée de la Seconde Guerre mondiale pour détruire une tour de contrôle d'aérodrome allemande à Bardufoss et organiser des groupes secrets de résistance militaire à Tromsø en Norvège occupée par l' Allemagne en 1943. L'opération consistait en douze ressortissants norvégiens relevant du groupe Company Linge , qui avaient été formés par les Britanniques en Écosse et sont retournés en Norvège en mars 1943. Cette opération a été compromise lorsque les agents norvégiens, à la recherche d'un contact de résistance local de confiance, ont accidentellement rencontré un commerçant civil non aligné portant le même nom que leur contact, qui les a signalés aux Allemands. L'évasion a échoué lorsque le navire du groupe MK Bratholm I a été détecté et attaqué par la frégate allemande Räumboot R56. Pour s'échapper, MK Bratholm I a été sabordé par son équipage norvégien en faisant exploser des explosifs de 8 t (7,9 tonnes longues) avec un fusible temporisé. L'équipage s'est enfui dans un petit bateau, qui a été rapidement coulé par les Allemands. Onze soldats norvégiens de la Compagnie Linge sont morts ; un a été abattu sur le site, dix ont été capturés, interrogés et torturés par la Gestapo puis exécutés à Tromsø. 🇨🇵 • Pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, l'opération Alphabet consista en l'évacuation le 24 mai 1940 des troupes alliées (Britanniques, Français, Polonais) du port de Narvik (Nord de la Norvège) sanctionnant le succès de l'Allemagne nazie pendant l'opération Weserübung du 6 avril et la fin de la campagne britannique en Norvège. L'évacuation fut terminée le 8 juin 1940. ~ Déroulement : • L'évacuation a été motivée par l'assaut de la Wehrmacht sur le Benelux et la France au printemps 1940 qui a relativement réduit l'importance stratégique de la Scandinavie concernant l'approvisionnement en minerai de fer pour l'Allemagne. • Plusieurs nuits après l'évacuation militaire, les civils de la ville ont été sauvés par le sous-lieutenant britannique Patrick Dalzel-Job. En désobéissant aux ordres, il a organisé l'évacuation de la population en bateaux de pêche juste avant un bombardement allemand de représailles. La ville a été en grande partie détruite, mais seulement quatre personnes ont été tuées. La marine royale a voulu mettre à pied Patrick Dalzel-Job mais ne put le faire après que le roi Haakon VII de Norvège lui attribua la croix des chevaliers de l'ordre de Saint-Olaf. Plus tard dans la guerre, il a servi avec Ian Fleming. 🇨🇵 • Opération Attila 💥 ____________ • La plus grande partie de la flotte française a été sabordée à Toulon le 27 novembre 1942 sur l'ordre de l'Amirauté, en réaction à l’opération Lila consistant à la capture de la flotte du régime de Vichy par le Troisième Reich. Près de 90 % de la flotte française stationnée dans la base navale de Toulon est détruite ; quelques rares unités appareillèrent, échappant tant au sabordage qu'à la capture par les forces de l'Axe. • L'opération a été un échec relatif pour l'Axe. Elle a été saluée par les Alliés, méfiants de la neutralité ambiguë de Vichy. Le sabordage a scellé la disparition de la capacité militaire de Vichy, le refus du régime de s'engager du côté des alliés, mais aussi son incapacité à satisfaire toutes les exigences de l'occupant nazi. • Pour les Allemands, l'opération Lila se solda donc par un échec. Il s'explique par le retard du second groupe allemand (celui venant de l'Ouest) et surtout par la parfaite mise au point des consignes de sabordage par la marine française. • Le bilan au soir du 27 novembre fait état de 90 % de la flotte de Toulon sabordée, dont la totalité des forces de haute mer qui y étaient basées. Tous les grands bâtiments de combat sont coulés et irrécupérables. ◇👇Penjelasan👇◇ Kapal Selam Jepang I-168 adalah kapal selam tipe Kaidai, jenis dari kapal selam cruiser yang aktif dalam Perang Dunia II. Sebuah kapal sub-kelas KD6, I-168 dibuat untuk Angkatan Laut Kekaisaran Jepang (IJN) pada awal tahun 1930-an. Di Battle of Midway, dia menenggelamkan satu-satunya kapal perang Amerika yang hilang dalam pertempuran: kapal induk USS Yorktown (CV-5) dan kapal perusak USS Hamman (DD-412). Karena kegagalan pabrik di Uni Soviet untuk membuat lapisan pelindung untuk kapal ini, kapal ini hanya dilindungi oleh baja setebal 230 milimeter, dan ini menjadikan Sovetsky Soyuz kapal perang terlemah dalam pertempuran. Foi um grande sucesso que transformou a infantaria de combate da Normandia em uma disputa altamente mecanizada através da França. Enquanto o General Bernard Montgomery fracassava em seu intento de quebrar a frente alemã em Caen, as forças americanas se aprontavam para levar avante o seu propósito de romper no leste. Essa manobra seria decisiva para colocar um ponto final na resistência às operações na França.
