Chintu is the youngest of the bunch, living in the war ravaged Iraq with his parents, his grandmother & his elder sister. And on the day of his birthday, things don't actually go out as planned but his family somehow tries to save the day. With the undertone of war & turmoil, how it makes life halt down to a crawl, the movie paces through the eyes of the family, living in constant fear, trying to light up hope for young Chintu. . Chintu Ka Birthday with a very simple concept, shows us how family gets you through every situation you come across in life, how family always helps you overcome problems, be it big or small. . An excellent script with great performances. Vinay Pathak, as Chintu's father shows his experienced acting skills here. Tillotama Shome as Chintu's mother gives a heartfelt genuine performance. Seema Pahwa as Chintu's grandmother is like every Indian grandmother, loving, caring & adorable. But the real star of the show is, Vedant Chibber as the cute little Chintu, who with his innocence & his gullible dialogue delivery pulls you right inside the story frames & makes you care about his birthday with all your heart. . One more thing that truly made this movie stand out was its cinematography, never pulling you out of the scene, always making you stay there with all the characters around you. . Recently released on Zee5, I first got to know Chintu back in 2019 when the movie was doing selective screening all over Indian theaters. Me and my friends were a little apprehensive when we bought the tickets as it was an unconventional film that usual Indian cinema isn't about and the movie wasn't the type we usually watch together.
