From the author of Cuddies Strip and Barossa Street comes a new web of intrigue for Bob Kelty to unravel. July 1939, and 3,500 young men from around the world arrive at Monzie Castle in Perthshire for the third international Rover Scout Moot. In the shadow of looming war the Moot seems to be a last gasp of international friendship and fraternity. But among them is a murderer. Bob Kelty discovers a dead body in a burnt-out tent on the edge of the camp. He is immediately suspicious but for some reason the authorities seem reluctant to become involved. More strange things begin to happen and Bob’s suspicions increase. And if the authorities won’t look into them, Bob decides he must. Moot is a novel of manipulation and trickery, murder and conspiracy. Unwittingly, Bob gets drawn deeper and deeper into events he does not understand and cannot control, events which reach to the highest areas of government. BOOK REVIEW 📖 Cuddies Strip ✏️ Rob McInroy 📍 Perth, Scotland 📎 Historical Fiction ⭐️ 4.5 This was the latest pick for my in-person book club and based on a horrendous local crime that took place in 1935. It is always chilling to read about violent events on paths you walk or streets you frequent and it did get under my skin. It was incredibly well set-out and skilfully keeps you guessing right to the end. I felt a range of emotions throughout, in particular due to the way the female victim is treated and portrayed. An excellent read. #Repost @engineerreads ・・・ 2nd book of May 3⭐️ I received this book from @lovebookstours but all opinions are genuine and my own. I started off a little confused as it is written with a Scottish tone but I got use to it. I think it even added to the story and setting. This mystery really left me wondering who had killed the man and how the main character was going to find out. I found that the extra bits of his life were a bit hit and miss, I either really loved it and found it incredibly helpful for the story or I was completely lost and it made me confused on the overall plot. The writing style is easy to read and split as dates which is really helpful. Using the historical context of the time also help to show the plot and the way that society was at the time. Overall I would try more from this author but feel the book could be more focused on the plot. #AD #gifted #lovebooktours #mayreads #review #barossastreet #robmcinroy #2022reads #bookstagram #books #bookworm #bookreview #bookshelf #kindle #ebook

#Repost @lyndas_bookreviews ・・・ 📘BOOK REVIEW📘📘 📚📚📚Love Books Tours📚📚📚 Barossa Street by Rob McInroy The follow up to a book called Cuddies Strip, featuring Bob Kelty, which I haven’t read - there are quite a few references to the cases in the previous book so I think having read it would have been an advantage. This book is set in 1936 in Perth, Scotland around the time of King George VI’s death and the subsequent abdication of Edward VIII so he could marry the divorced American Mrs Simpson. There are a lot of historical references in the book and it’s clearly been well researched. There is also interesting reference to available police investigation/forensic tequniques in the 1930’s. Briefly, Kelty has resigned from the police force. He becomes involved in a murder case when Richard Hamill is arrested and charged with the murder of a reclusive man he and Kelty found dead in his home. Kelty is convinced his friend is innocent. His former colleague Sergeant Braggan is convinced that Hamill is the culprit and is not prepared to listen to Kelty. But Kelty can’t let it go. He is determined to see the true culprit brought to justice. As well as working and investigating the death Kelty is looking after his grandmother who is exhibiting signs of Alzheimer’s dementia. The caring side of his nature shines throughout the book with plenty of lighter moments such as Kelty rescuing a swan from the middle of the road and released it into the Tay! I would mention that a lot of the dialogue is written in Scottish ( as it’s spoken ) which at times i found difficult to understand. A good, well written read, with lots of historical reference which I enjoyed. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #bookreview #BookTour #barossastreet #robmcinroy #lovebookstours #ringwoodpublishing #lyndasbookreviews #scotland #historicalfiction #bookclubsofinstagram #instabookstagram #bookishgirl #bookreviewer #bookobsessed #ilovereading #booksofinstagram #booknerdigans #bookishaesthetic #booksarelove #ad #gifted

@the.b00kreader 📖Cuddies Strip by Rob McInroy 📖Book Tour hosted by @lovebookstours 🙏🤗 - - - - 📖Synopsis: August 1935. A young couple stroll down Cuddies Strip, a lovers' lane on the outskirts of their hometown. Neither is aware of the tragedy about to befall them – horrifying crimes that shook the residents of Perth, Scotland, to their very core. The murder of Daniel Kerrigan, 18, and the violent attack on his girlfriend Marjory Fenwick, 17, is a true story that is heartbreakingly retold in this fictionalised account. Marjory’s ordeal didn’t end that night, however. This novel painstakingly explores her mistreatment by those meant to help her – the police and judicial system. Inspector Conoboy and PC Bob Kelty struggle against the ignorance of their colleagues as they race to catch the culprit before someone else falls victim – and to give Marjory the justice and peace she deserves. - - - - 📖Review to follow soon. Once I've caught up on finishing this book! 😳🤤 So far I'm really enjoying it! The plot, the characters, the writing, everything so detailed and creating a wonderful visual image within my mind.
