My daughter told me yesterday that she and one other girl in her grade are the only kids she knows of who make 2 projects on holidays. Not that they’re the only kids with single parents, but they’re the only kids close enough to both parents, who live in 2 houses, that they make 2 projects. So I reminded her of this project she made for Valentine’s Day, and she said she made 2 copies, but addressed both copies to me and her dad. There’s something so sweet about how, to her, this is normal. She realizes it’s different, that we live separately and yet we’re friends, but she doesn’t yet understand fully why it’s so uncommon. Divorce is hard. Coparenting is harder. There are times their dad and I disagree (plenty of times), but we still celebrate all of our birthdays and holidays together when possible. Despite everything, we still choose to share our lives together. 💛Friendships💛 Having a well earned break from work but as ever my mind continues to be hooked 🎣 by non-fiction books, particularly when I see something that might appeal or offer useful insights within therapy! I have listened to @elizabday podcasts for a while but this book appealed due to personal interest as well as the likelihood it was going to offer wisdom for supporting my clients in the people they turn to when things get tough-friends. #friendaholic looks at why we spend so much time doing deep dives into romantic relationships but not platonic ones, suggesting that our ‘relational health’ is something that should be considered as important as our physical and emotional wellbeing. The book considers why we need friends, why we keep friends who maybe aren’t all that ‘healthy’ for us and looks at what it means to end a friendship. There’s also some very personal discussions on fertility and how to navigate this with friends who find themselves in a different place to you, which I know is something that many of my clients can find difficult to make sense of. Sometimes I’m @kavatar_awakening acknowledged ñ seen #TheKavaCriticsConnection & other times I’m almost invisible ñ not even noticed at all. What most people don’t know is the high level of monetary expenses/investments & energy of devotion I’ve put into the greatest #KavaCrawl ever that our whole #KavaKountry has ever seen. What most people will never know is the opposition & interferences I’ve come up against. I don’t care if you believe me that I’ve been to 150+ kava bars because the proof is all the “check-in’s” on my FB Page & every place (440+) I’ve located/marked on my GoogleMaps… What I care about more, is how I’m personally frustrated with some uncontrollable aspects with these long #crosscountry #roadtrips. As much as it appears that my #adventuroustravels have always been successful… None of you know what goes on #behindthescenes of my #travelbloggerlife before, during & after my visits to ALL the KavaBars. Another oddly disheartening frustration is the heartbreaking loneliness. While I meet a lot of people & make certain friendly connections along the way + occasionally I travel with close long term friends, despite still being immensely alone… There hasn’t been anyone as passionate as me about the #kavaculture… Rarely has there ever been any women as a significant other who’s cared about this just as much or not even close to as distinctly motivating as me. I’ve learned to let it be & let the belief go that will ever be any special group, team, crew, pod, or especially any significant other of a beloved woman... Since #Romanticpartnership isn’t in the cards for me. I’m already well aware I’ll be living without a spouse & dying alone.
