📽 ESTRENOS 2024 📽 Wes Ball continua en “El reino del planeta de los simios” la historia finalizada por Matt Reeves en “La guerra del planeta de los simios” (2017). En ella, la humanidad ya casi ha desaparecido, y la historia gira alrededor de un simio llamado Noa, en lo que no deja de ser una historia iniciática. Ahora en este contexto postapocalíptico tan particular. Lo mejor de toda la propuesta es la apuesta por un bienvenido sentido de la aventura a través de una Tierra devastada por los estragos de todo lo acontecido en las películas anteriores. Con la presentación de un nuevo plantel de personajes, surgen nuevos tipos de relaciones y conflictos, quizás no originales, pero sí efectivos. Hay también una apuesta por rejuvenecer el tono general de la propuesta, y de ahí seguramente la decisión de optar por un personaje tan juvenil. Se abraza la idea y se desarrolla sin complejos. Aunque la puesta en escena de Ball es sencilla y completamente impersonal, muestra buena mano en las escenas de acción. Además, consigue imprimir un inesperado sentido de la maravilla, dada la premisa general. Lo peor, sin duda un metraje excesivamente largo para una historia que no tiene tanta complejidad ni originalidad. “War for the Planet of the Apes” (2017) is a sci-fi action film directed by Matt Reeves starring Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn & Karin Konoval. The epic finale in Caeser’s arc sees him the most vulnerable we’ve seen him yet. Harrelson’s colonel was truly a fantastic antagonist to Caeser’s and the apes and Harrelson portrayed him so well - a truly detestable villain. Much like Dawn, you don’t feel the runtime of the film - you’re so enthralled in the apes and wanting them to survive, it feels not as long as you expect it to. Performances once again are all fantastic, Serkis adding even more emotional range to Caeser, especially seeing him put in the position he’s put in during this film. That final scene where Caeser succumbs to his wound is so beautiful yet so heartbreaking to watch and that’s really sold so well by Konoval’s performance as Maurice too who as always been such a close friend to Caeser. This is perhaps the best looking of the three films in terms of cinematography, the snow environment really posed for some stunning shots and beautiful camera work and with the Apes once again looking phenomenal too. The music and editing are once again fantastic and we actually get some quite funny moments throughout the film with Zahn’s bad ape who was so funny and a pleasure to watch on screen. Overall, this was such a fantastic conclusion to Caeser’s story and an overall great wrap up to this trilogy portion of the reboot series, Caeser will forever go down as one of the greatest and most iconic movie characters of all time and Serkis truly does deserve all the credit he gets because he has been phenomenal in this film series, especially looking at the evolution of the character and how his performance highlighted that. “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” (2014) is a sci-fi action movie directed by Matt Reeves starring Andy Serkis, Toby Kebbell, Gary Oldman & Jason Clarke. With Reeves bought in as new director, he would take this franchise to a whole new level. I never mentioned just how fantastic the visual effects are in Rise and this first sequel is no different, the apes look phenomenal. Serkis returns with another stellar performance as Caeser, bringing even more emotional range as we see the character grow and evolve more and more each passing time and Serkis does so well at displaying that. Kebbell also does an incredible job at playing the sympathetic villainous ape Koba, easily one of the more underrated movie villains of the 2010’s, also a truly fearsome villain and Kebbell portrays him so well too. The rest of the cast do a great job with Oldman and Clarke bringing the human characters to life so well with their memorable performances. The action sequences are just fantastic to watch, that final fight scene between Caeser and Koba is just so epic and that big explosion of the tower is just shot so well and gets you on the edge of your seat, these apes truly feel so real and you really form a bond with them as characters despite the fact they’re just CGI. The music once again is fantastic with another epic score from Michael Giacchino, the movie flows so well too. You don’t feel the runtime of the film and are just so hooked and invested with this story and these characters, constantly rooting for the Apes over our own species is truly a remarkable feet for this movie to accomplish. It can be difficult sometimes to keep attention during the Apes conversations in sign language but you’re still so interested in the characters it still keeps you invested nevertheless. Overall, this was a fantastic sequel and another very impressive addition to an epic franchise of films, the movie also continued to cement Caeser as this iconic and excellent character which would lead onto the epic conclusion of his story. 7.6/10 #dawnoftheplanetoftheapes #planetoftheapes #2014 #movies #scifi #action #mattreeves #pierreboulle #andyserkis #jasonclarke #garyoldman #tobykebbell #kerirussell

“Rise of the Planet of the Apes” (2011) is a sci-fi action movie directed by Rupert Wyatt starring Andy Serkis, James Franco, Freida Pinto & John Lithgow. After Burton’s awful remake, the Planet of the Apes franchise would get a reboot and what a reboot it would be. I love this movie, it completely retells the story of Apes in such a different but effective way and turns Caeser into one of the greatest characters in movie history. Serkis does an absolutely fantastic job as Caesar himself, you can’t argue that he has cemented himself as the best motion capture actor of all time and his performance as Caeser is a testament to that, he would only get better as the franchise went on. Franco also shines with a strong performance seeing his bond with Caeser is something special and it poses for some truly sad moments throughout the course of the film. There’s some stunning cinematography throughout the film, that shot of the apes leaping through the trees with the leaves falling always blows me away and some of the scenes were Caeser climbs the big tree is fantastic to watch. I can’t talk about this film without mentioning the “No” Moment, truly a terrifying and impactful scene, one would argue of the whole franchise, Caeser’s first word will always stay with me and always made me remember this film for sure. The music and editing is also fantastic. I would say that the pacing of the film could’ve been improved, the change in the first and second half is rather odd and the slow build can be rather tedious upon a rewatch. I've always enjoyed the #planetoftheapes #reboot movies. They are #shakesperean in plot, have incredible #sfx and end up being engaging and enjoyable experiences. This one is no different. Set many years after the death of #Ceaser (the protagonist of the last trilogy, played by the awesome #andyserkis) a new army of apes rises led by a faux Caeser with only a small group of rebels standing in their way. The sfx is probably the best of the series, effectively portraying the strong acting in a realistic manner. Probably the only let down is the wishy washy soundtrack which detracts from the epic scale of the movie. Defo worth a watch! 🍿Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024) - 7.8/10 📺 In Theaters Now 300 years after Ceaser’s death, the apes are still building their own civilization. One young ape, Noa, embarks on a journey that challenges his beliefs and forces him to question everything he has ever known. As he delves into the past, he uncovers a truth that shatters his understanding of the relationship between humans and apes, and the true nature of Ceaser’s ideologies. WHAT A WONDERFUL DAY! Shout out to Kevin Durand for being no one but himself. Kingdom explores many different avenues, and it did a fantastic job. It tackles the ideas of skewed beliefs and false ideologies, mortality, preconceived notions, and exploring coexistence with people who aren’t like yourself. The film flips everything on its head and makes humans docile while the apes are at the top of the food chain. It falters at times with the third act as it tries to set up so much without compromising the movie itself, but with the strong performance of Proximus Ceaser, it all wasn’t short of entertaining. Noa isn’t anything out of the norm, but his youth leads to avenues to discover what made Ceaser so special in the previous films. Mae went from likable to despicable very quickly, which can be viewed as the point of her character. The visuals are stunning, expansive, and striking; every visual and shot feels justified. The voice acting was impressive, and the movements felt intentional and practiced. As impressive as Proximus Ceaser was, he had very little screen time, and the third act does begin to crumble even as you explore the themes mentioned above. Mae’s acting wasn’t that great, and Macy was very ill-used. The pacing can be uninspiring for some, with many arguing that the film uses too much build-up instead of focusing on the narrative. My hubby and I recently rewatched this trilogy in preparation for watching the new POTA movie. This still remains a solid and impressive trilogy. Rise Of Planet Of The Apes (2011) 🙊- Such a fabulous start to the story, and the cgi still looks fairly good 13 years later. They really do an amazing job of making you care so much about a cgi ape, but Cesar is such a great character, the way I love this guy 😭😭 I cried so much throughout the trilogy. The whole Alzheimer’s storyline is so sad too. Theres a lot to unpack in this one but it really makes you feel emotionally connected to the characters and at the end when he speaks it’s such a profound moment for the series. Dawn of The Planet Of The Apes (2014) 🦧 I love seeing the apes ride horses and fight bears 😅 this one is soooo fun. So many good moments and a great Villain in Koba. He has so many good moments, but he also makes me so angry 😤 this one is pretty epic and has some great action scenes. Also Cesar and Maurice 🥺 my boys. I would die for these cgi apes. War For Planet Of The Apes 🦍 (2017) This one is so depressing 😭😤 honestly I cried so damn much 😂😂 but seriously by this movie if you aren’t so damn invested in Cesar and Maurice, and then we get Bad Ape 😂 one this movie did me in 😭😭😭 seriously the ending though. I love all iterations of POTA films the old ones and even the Tim Burton one, and I will always cheer for the Apes. Macy & Travis Jeffery Con cada nuevo título del Planeta de los Simios que se lanza, más seguros estamos de que las cosas son parte de una gran estrategia de crecimiento narrativo bien planteada desde un buen tiempo atrás. Construir estos universos fílmicos sobre la marcha puede permitir ciertos encajes limitados de piezas, que por desgracia; no tardan en tambalearse y caer. Sin embargo, ‘El reino del planeta de los simios’ comienza la nueva fase de los primates con gran acierto y sonoro éxito; sin olvidar sus raíces ni pasar por alto la trilogía del Caesar de Andy Serkis, que sigue muy presente en cuerpo y alma en la película. Pero por suerte, la historia evoluciona y viaja en el tiempo para ubicarnos en una realidad más próxima a la cinta de Charlton Heston y presentar unos personajes sublimes, de gran calado y con una evolución muy potente, jugando a la misma vez con la historia de Roma. Está muy clara cuál es la idea de Searchlight y Disney, que no van a echar el cierre a una franquicia tan rentable como esta, y se ve venir desde lejos una nueva trilogía de películas con los nuevos personajes que en ella debutan, destacando en especial al personaje de Freya Allan (‘The Witcher’) que es el gran motor y alma de la película, junto a Owen Teague. Por si no fuera suficiente, el CGI sigue su curso lógico y nos demuestra una vez más los prodigios que los VFX pueden dar al cine, sobre todo cuando van de la mano de unas grandes historias que esperan ser narradas. La guerra del planeta de los simios (2017) Dir: Matt Reeves Scr: Mark Bomback & Matt Reeves Cast: Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, Karin Konoval, Amiah Miller & Terry Notary Y en 2017, 6 años después del estreno de ‘El origen del planeta de los simios’, llegaba a su fin la trilogía que se ha ganado a pulso el derecho a llamarse: “la trilogía de Matt Reeves”. Volver a contar con el director de ‘Cloverfield’ al frente de la dirección de este cierre de trilogía alzó una vez más este título a la categoría de gran blockbuster y cine de autor a partes iguales. Con una estrategia cada vez más clara, y en plena transición entre Fox y Disney, la franquicia alcanzaba un grado más de complejidad enfrentando también una trama muy importante en las películas anteriores, pero no hasta este punto, como lo es la guerra. Y realmente la película hace digna justicia a su título, mostrando una verdadera guerra a dos bandas y con un esbozo muy directo hacia la estupidez humana y la teoría darwinista de la selección natural. La película, sin saberlo en 2017, sería una puente de unión a lo que estaría luego por llegar; pero cuando se estrenó hace 7 años bien parecía el adiós de César y de la precuela del Planeta de los Simios, logrando hacerlo todo con muy buena puntería y dando respuesta a todas las incógnitas o dudas que quedaban en el aire. Además, nuevamente el CGI y la captura de movimientos, con Serkis como pionero al frente de nuevo, marcaron un gran salto cinematográfico con esta película. El amanecer del planeta de los simios (2014) Dir: Matt Reeves Scr: Mark Bomback, Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver Cast: Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Keri Russell, Gary Oldman, Kodi Smit-McPhee & Toby Kebbell Y por fin luz al final del túnel. Una luz con nombre y apellidos: Matt Reeves, que devolvieron al público las esperanzas en la saga del Planeta de los Simios y que logró aprobar con nota el segundo intento por consolidar una franquicia precuela que, de haber tenido una secuela al nivel de su predecesora, bien podría haberse vuelto al cajón olvidado de los extintos estudios de 20th Century Fox. Por suerte, los 3 años entre secuelas sirvieron para pensar mejor las cosas, replantear la historia, dar profundidad a los personajes, creatividad a la historia y tiempo de mejoría al CGI, algo que se nota en todos y cada uno de los simios que se cuelan en nuestro hogares a través de la pantalla. Pero por descontado, el aterrizaje de Reeves en la saga, con su visión privilegiada para narrar y dirigir historias, es lo que catapultó esta película, con un guion magnífico pero con alguna laguna, a lo más alto. Aquí empieza lo realmente bueno de este reboot precuela del Planeta de los Simios. Una película muy humana, incluso en el desarrollo de los personajes primates, que toca profundos temas morales y ético, siguiendo con la línea crítica y de pura reivindicación de su predecesora sobre el maltrato animal y la experimentación de fármacos en monos. Además, el giro que estos personajes experimentan, con una evolución notable de su personalidad, es un regalo innegable. Como espectador, la historia y los personajes avanzan en una película fantástica. Note : 3,5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ « La planète des singes : le nouveau royaume », film de Wess Ball (2024) 🍿 🎥 Vu au Capitole MyCineWest Avis : La franchise a l’intelligence de proposer une continuité cohérente avec les 3 excellents films précédents (sans toutefois atteindre leur qualité), sans chercher à les calquer, et apporte un nouveau souffle et une nouvelle direction. En cela, le film est réussi. Car, outre le fait qu’il joue avec la mythologie de César, il pose les bases pour quelque chose de nouveau (sans être novateur non plus). Techniquement et visuellement, le film est irréprochable (on voit les progrès incroyables faits depuis 10 ans sur ce genre d’animation), et il a tous les ingrédients pour en faire un film agréable (action, émotion, personnages auxquels on s’attache…), grand public, et très divertissant. Au passage, le film parle de thèmes intéressants, comme l’évolution, la foi, les faux prophètes et le sentiment d’appartenance. Apres, le début est un peu long (le film pose les bases d’une nouvelle trilogie et donc prend son temps), et a quelques incohérences ou grosses ficelles voire facilités dans sa deuxième partie. Since news dropped of the much-anticipated new Lord of the Rings projects slated for production with Warner Brothers, I’ve been champing at the bit for information on their roster. You can imagine the geeky glee that set in upon the announcement that the LOTR Dream Team is reuniting to produce The Hunt for Gollum. Details are scant, but the mind does wander to wondrous places.  What we know: The Andy Serkis-directed film will see him also reprise his role as Gollum, be produced by Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Phillipa Boyens; art direction provided by WETA; and filming in New Zealand (aka Middle-earth). We also can interpret much from the title as well, recalling mentions in the LOTR publications, along with Tolkien’s appendices–as well as references made in Jackson’s two Tolkien trilogies, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.  Naturally, I’m keen on casting news, for no role more than Aragorn, who will play a significant role in the plot since he’s the eventual capturer of Gollum, bringing him to his imprisonment under Thranduil’s watch and Gandalf’s interrogation. While some of the original actors from Jackson’s two trilogies can believably reprise their roles; others, like Viggo Mortensen likely cannot.  That begs the question: Who would be the right fit to fill his iconic shoes? I see no other actor who can rightfully take up that banner than Ben Barnes. He’s not only the right age and aesthetic, but he has the physicality to bear Aragorn’s burden, the acting prowess to convey his complex emotional range, and knows his way around the fantasy realm. It also helps he’s a fan of Tolkien’s work, which means he’d respect the source material.  LMK what you think. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)    ʀᴇᴠɪᴇᴡ ꜱᴄᴏʀᴇ: 8/10    The sequel to Rise and the second film from the Apes reboot trilogy. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, directed by Matt Reeves (The Batman, Cloverfield), is probably my favorite from the three. It’s an epic action drama that is as good as its predecessor, if not better. The trilogy as a whole is a must see. Who doesn’t love apes?     The film takes place 10 years after the events of Rise and follows the few human survivors as they battle to stay alive in the wake of a deadly pandemic. The apes, all bestowed with genetically enhanced intelligence by the virus, have established a colony in the Muir Woods National Monument, led by Caesar, their Don Corleone, who has grown older and wiser, along with his lieutenants Maurice, Rocket, Luca and Koba. Trouble ensues when a small group of humans appear in the woods in need of help.    Director Matt Reeves sure knows how to strike fear into the hearts of the audience with a rollercoaster of emotions type of movie here. Within the first 5 minutes, Dawn draws you in. Within 15 minutes, you are completely immersed in the story. Andy Serkis as Caesar is once again brilliant. Beautifully shot with incredible CGI, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes goes down as a fantastic sequel. In 2011, I remember walking out of the theater thinking that Rise was way better than it had any business being. 13 years later, I’m still thinking the same thing. How can a movie that is primarily about apes be so captivating? I believe there is a tie as to what makes this work so well. First, the emotional connections in the movie are what work for me. You are angry as the apes are captured in the forest and worked on in a lab. You feel cautious joy as you see the relationship between Caesar and his humans grow from chimp to an adult. You cheer for the apes when they begin to “rise.” You also feel sorrow for certain apes, gorillas, and the situation with John Lithgow’s character. Basically, your emotions get a rollercoaster ride throughout this movie. What also works is the acting and motion capture used for this film. The CGI in this is so well done, that you forget that these apes are not real. Andy Serkis and his fellow actors do such a beautiful job of capturing the emotions of the apes along with the movements looking flawless. You care about all of the apes because there is so much believability to their presence. If there is a complaint to be made, I would say that it would would be that Tom Felton’s character kind of felt out of place. I don’t know if it’s out of place, or if his character is a bit over-the-top. This is an absolute minor nitpick, and will never deter me away from rewatching this more often. Overall, I’d give Rise a 9/10. The movie flows at a nice brisk pace. I don’t think there’s ever a moment that carries on too long. Rupert Wyatt does an amazing job with this first entry into this version of the Planet of the Apes. If you’ve been on the fence of checking this series out, I’d highly recommend giving it a shot. War for the planet of the apes (2017)(Star+) 8.9/10 La tercera pelicula del planeta de los simios, dirigida por Matt Reeves, trae el cierre de Caesar, de su historia, de todo lo que logro a lo largo de los años como lider de los simios, pero ahora, se enfrentara al Coronel, uno que encarcela a todos los simios y los usa para trabajar, y es mision de Caesar liberarlos y terminar esta guerra con los humanos. · La historia, es muy uy buena, ya que tenemos una division de casi dos historias, una de Caesar, Maurice y Rocket, explorando el mundo en busca de venganza, y es donde exploramos a Caesar en su peor momento, en la que esta lleno de ira, y hace que tenga sus consecuencias, entonces, podemos ver la historia de Caesar, pero al igual teniendo un prison break, entonces tenemos un enfrentamiento entre humanos y simios que nunca se habia visto en estas peliculas, en las que los humanos ahora son 100% los malos en esta pelicula, a excepcion de Nova, una niña perdida que hace que los simios recapaciten bien en el lado en el que estan. · Andy Serkis anda en su esplendor en esta pelicula, dando absolutamente todo, siendo perfecto como Caesar, que hasta recuerdo que habia campaña de que lo nominen a mejor actor. Woody Harrelson es muy bueno como el Coronel, dando esa linea en la que podemos ver que el al igual es un personaje absolutamente perdido en ira, y no se detendra jamas hasta que logre su mision. Steve Zahn como Bad Ape es el balance que necesitaba esta pelicula para que pueda tener sus ciertos momentos en la que encontremos vida dentro de los changos, y que siempre hay diferentes secciones sobre simios que no sabias. · La accion de esta pelicula, es buenisma, e incluso la mejor de la franquicia, ya que vemos que ya esto es pura guerra, pura venganza, y vemos a los simios que ya se comportan totalmente como humanos, ya tienen sus vidas planteadas, y hace que esta pelicula crezca mucho en valor, y con este CGI tan bueno, hace que la pelicula se sienta mas natural de la franquicia, se sentia real, y es donde nos dejan un perfecto cierre a la historia de uno de los mejores personajes de toda la historia. #planetoftheapes #caesar #andyserkis #cinema #movies

[7,5] Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes del director Wes Ball (Maze Runner) es de la clase de películas que me hacen ir al cine. Es una película evento (tal como lo fue 'Dune: Parte Dos' este mismo año) que te deslumbra por sus visuales impactantes y te sumerge en un mundo completamente fantástico. Como fanático de la trilogía anterior no sabía que esperar de esta continuación cuando fue anunciada. Las anteriores entregas cimentaron una trilogía muy lograda con un final que cerraba perfectamente la historia de su protagonista César, fue una serie de películas destacadas por sus efectos alucinantes y una historia igual de emotiva. Puede que esta entrega no cuente con una historia tan sólida para los niveles a los que acostumbro la anterior trilogía, por momentos también peca por tener un ritmo lento, pero mantiene el encanto en sus propuestas para el género de la ciencia ficción y posee nuevos e interesantes protagonistas. Sigue ofreciendo aquello para lo que fue inventando el cine, esa capacidad de asombrar y brindar escapismo a través de sus mundos fantásticos, creados en esta película por sus fascinantes efectos visuales que te llevan a un planeta tierra donde el ser humano dejo de ser la especie dominante, donde la naturaleza le ganó la partida a la selva de vidrio y concreto, donde las interpretaciones de los simios disfrazadas por el CGI transmiten muchísimo.
