This is a brilliant film and it isn't often that you enjoy the third film in a franchise as much as the first and second. The writing is superb as nothing is rushed nor dragged out. Combined with technological advances, this story is told beautifully. Whilst it does bring an end to the trilogy, it does also set up a future for the Planet of the Apes. Yes, it is darker, it has to be when it focuses on war. With all great sequels, they don't copy the first film, but tells it's own story, develops the characters even better - gives them arcs. And that is what Matt Reeves did with 'Dawn'. He managed to succeed in every department! Again, Serkis is the stand out as Caesar, however, #tobykebbell should get the same amount of praise as Serkis gets for his performance as Koba. I think he is one of cinema's best villains. #garyoldman and #jasonclarke are the human characters who get the spotlight in this film. I think Jason Clarke gets the best written character and his overall performance is very good. How these films don't have even one wonky use of CGI is beyond me... Overall, 'Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes' still remains one of modern day cinema best sequels with the brilliantly written characters, story arcs and development. {2011} #riseoftheplanetoftheapes is directed by #rupertwyatt and stars #jamesfranco as scientist Will Rodman who sets out to create a substance that will help the brain repair itself by testing it on chimpanzee who he names Casear. So after the disaster that was Tim Burton's remake, 20th Century Fox decided to reboot the 'Apes' again this time with modern day technology. What they didn't know was that this was the start of arguably the best trilogy of the 2010's... With them going in the motion capture way, it was obvious that only #andyserkis was the only one who could bring it to life. And without Serkis, these new films wouldn't have succeeded and Casear wouldn't have become one of cinema's best ever characters. It's a crime he never got recognised for his work here. The script here makes us care about the human characters especially Franco's Will and #johnlithgow who plays Will's dad. The build up to Casear saying "NO" is incredible and has changed cinema forever - from that moment to the end credits, I had goosebumps which never went. Overall, 'Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes' shows how you can successfully reboot a franchise when the protagonist is well written along with all the other elements. La trilogie le Hobbit (2012-2014) (Warner Bros) Ayant enfin fini mon marathon sur cette licence, je pourrais enfin vous exprimer mon avis sur ces deux trilogies, dont ils sont différents l'un l'autre en sa manière de faire. Un voyage Inattendu : Celui-ci expose sa narration et son univers malgré qu'il expose trop sur la référence, il donne de la profondeur à Biblon dont son évolution arrive à tenir la route au fur et à mesure des volets. Ce volet se veut léger dans sa manière de faire et intrigue avance de manière honnête. La Désolation de Smaug : Celui-ci est mon préféré des trois, trouvant que la saga Hobbit aurait pu se contenter de deux films. Ce volet est le plus aboutie des trois. Smaug est imposant et Benedict Cumberbatch est excellent pour ce qu'il a fait sur Smaug (dont la motion capture a donné vie à ses expressions et ses mouvements) le défaut que je lui reprocherait c'est qu'il y a beaucoup trop de sous-intrigue. La Bataille des cinq armées : Pour honnête j'ai toujours trouvé ce volet de trop bien que l'idée est bonne pour en faire un spin-off à la Rogue One, qu'il soit pas lié à la trilogie Hobbit. Tout son traitement parle de l'héritage qu'a apporté cette saga (symbolique de l'or des nains, avide de pouvoir dont Smaug est la cause de tout ça) Une fin qui peut rappeller la Revanche des Sith part la perte de certains personnages. In this stunning conclusion to Caesar’s story, War for the Planet of the Apes brings things full circle. Much like its predecessor, its visuals, performances and emotional heft are incredibly well defined and presented. Caesar’s journey here takes him through outright darkness and there were times where this movie was emotionally exhausting. Not necessarily to its detriment but the genuine hopelessness almost won out during the back-end of the second act and entirety of the third act. Andy Serkis is once again incredible, as is Karin Konoval as Caesar’s loyal friend, Maurice. Special mention should go to Steve Zahn as Bad Ape – not only injecting some much needed and effective comic relief, he is no doubt one of the film’s strongest emotional elements. Matt Reeves has managed to close off a trilogy no one expected to be as acclaimed as it ended up being. Will KINGDOM begin a new set of equally impressive entries? Only time will tell. . DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ US UK Canada 2014 Dir: Matt Reeves 130 min Prime The shared world of apes and humans reaches a breaking point. A well paced sci-fi action thriller that sees the peace between worlds shatter. This was well acted and well written. The only negative I have really is at times I felt there should have been more of an urgency within the humans. There was pure tension for the full runtime of the film which is really impressive, especially with so much built into the two hours. REVIEWED! RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES (2011), directed by Rupert Wyatt, starring James Franco, Andy Serkis, Freida Pinto, and Tom Felton. The fast pace causes certain characters to go underdeveloped, but “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” displays some impressive VFX and proves it can make a solid character out of a chimp. 7/10 ⚠️ SPOILERS BEGIN BELOW ⚠️ The CGI for Caesar and the other apes really is quite impressive. It’s difficult to get CGI to work with characters or animals that have hair, like an ape, but Caesar always carries weight in the scenes he’s in, thanks in part to the use of motion capture. What’s something so smart about the apes’ designs, though, is that the VFX artists made a clear, but important distinction between the intelligent apes and the normal ones through the look of their eyes. Patrick Doyle’s score may be a bit cliché, but it does add to the film. The rapid arpeggiation employed in many of the themes speaks to the rapid evolution Caesar and the other apes undergo throughout the film. The quick pacing of this film has a ripple effect on the rest of the writing. Caesar and Will get enough attention, but many other characters are left barely developed to accomplish this. Caroline is a prime example. She gets the thesis of her character out without the beats to support it, and, as such, feels flat. Jacobs is the same way. Additionally, the time jumps in the first act can be rather jarring, and the ending wraps up far too quickly. Most of the actors in the film give rather flat performances as a result. Andy Serkis provides easily the most engaging performance of the movie, and he has about four words of dialogue behind the CGI of Caesar. The action of the third act is certainly compelling, though. It’s tense, since you’ll actually care about Caesar at that point in the film, and it’s been set up what the humans are willing to do to stop the apes.

The technology and effects behind this film are absolutely dazzling. Andy Serkis combined with stop-motion effects has always been something great, yet I felt they excelled themselves here. Caesar looks incredible and so realistic. Caesar is a beautifully written character, who can teach us a lot about humanity despite not being one himself. Unfortunately the character of Will leaves a lot to be desired as there is zero complexity and Franco looks bored out of his mind, despite this being an incredible opportunity. This is the films only major downfall. There are some ever so slight plot holes but these are easily overlooked. My Review of KOTPOTA: I thought it was a solid movie, it definitely helps to watch the older trilogy as I didn't realise it'd be as connected as it was in some aspects, or atleast you'd get more out of the film that way. From a technical standpoint it's incredible, but from a narrative standpoint it very much so feels like exposition for the second film, setting up the tension and characters without much payoff, meaning its reliant on the trilogy being good to be a good movie in my opinion, but as a standalone movie it's not horrible, just alright. As for the storyline After Brothers David and Peter kidnap Tracey and want 100k ransom they take her to a cottage but after she escapes they realises they ain’t alone. As for the cast I liked Andy Serkis Reece Shearsmith and Jennifer Ellison and others ok too. Overall it’s a good film has action and fun and gory. If you thought the visuals couldn’t get any better, you would be as surprised as I was. Coming off back-to-back critical successes of Cloverfield and Let Me In, Matt Reeves takes over the reigns from Rupert Wyatt. Not only is this instalment as fascinating, it feels even more enriched, mature and beautifully acted. Andy Serkis infuses even more dimension to the character of Caesar, facing outward and inward conflict from those closest to him and those alien to him. It’s a remarkable performance further aided by both Toby Kebbell’s Koba and Karin Konoval’s Maurice whom you could say act as Caesar’s two worlds (diplomacy/civility and savagery/chaos).
