My idols were: Tom Cruise, Mr T and Jean-Claude Van Damme, I dreamed of flying fighter jets and kickin' ass in an A-Team van. I always felt I could do better than any boy can, because my secret identity was Wonder Woman! The only idol of mine that wasn't masculine but with a whip like Indiana Jones and boy, was I a fan. 'A Certain Type Of Guy' When your single people always ask you why, right? But my reply Is always the same, That I'm looking for a certain type of guy... He's the kind of guy who thinks it's crazy to spend $500 on jeans, When he could instead, Use that money to buy groceries For people in need. He has an immovable inner strength, perhaps from a dark past he's overcome, But he uses it as outward compassion, Instead of turning it in to be a victim. If he sees anyone out on the street that needs a hand, he'll be by their side, If someone needs help, he'll do it because He's just that kind of guy, And his understanding eyes, And the warmth of his smile, Makes you instantly feel safe, Like he could tame anything wild, And his broad shoulders and strong profile... ...uhhhh, excuse me.. ... I digress... It's been a while... Now, where was I? Oh yes, my 'hold out' guy.. But in saying this too, he isn't reserved or shy, When it comes to being passionate, If it's you, a goal, or an idea, he'll make it happen because he's so adamant. He has a strong mind but always open to it changing, Because the wisdom he's gained, Has his insights trail blazing. And you'd think with this guy being so amazing, That he'd have an ego the size of a mountain, Instead, he's humble, willing to pass on the credit, And remain someone you can count on. You'll find him on Sundays mowing his Nanas lawns, And listening to her stories and favorite songs. You'll find him building a love seat, So you can sit and watch the sunset, He'll read poetry and maybe write some too, And you love it so much he inspires you, And this is the thing that together you do. And so after I've explained all this through, People say... 'I see why you're single, dude.' But I have to admit since my divorce, It's true that I really love my solitude, And if life proves this guy really exists, Then, perhaps on the solitude point, I could be persuaded to move. 🩷 Mit MUT fangen die schönsten Geschichten an! Letztes Jahr habe ich mich spontan dazu entschieden, die Ausbildung zum Spiritual Life Coach bei @lauramalinaseiler zu machen. 🫶🏼 Es war ein Bauchgefühl. Ich hatte mich bis dahin schon mit Persönlichkeitsentwicklung beschäftigt und war so begeistert, was seitdem alles passiert ist. Wie ich plötzlich handeln, reflektieren und reagieren, Gefühle und Überzeugungen dahinter erkennen konnte! 8 Monate haben mich wunderbare Mentorinnen, supertolle Vorträge von Therapeut:innen, Psychologinnen und wahnsinnig interessante Themen begleitet, ich habe ganz tolle Menschen kennengelernt, mit ihnen geübt, Methoden gecoacht, gelacht, geweint und viele Erkenntnisse gewonnen. Mit meiner Freundin habe ich dann letzte Woche mein Prüfungscoaching aufnehmen dürfen - von Herzen danke für dein Vertrauen - und gestern Abend erfahren, dass ich bestanden habe 🙏🏻 ich freu mich unfassbar!!! Es war eine sehr intensive Reise, die ich spontan und voller Mut angetreten bin und die sich zu einer der schönsten Geschichte entwickelt hat... Am Donnerstag, 16.5.2024, findet ein Vortrag von Dr. Thomas Kellein, Direktor der Bergos Art Consult, statt, in welchem er von 19 bis 20:30 Uhr Einblicke in das Thema »Was ist Written Art« und in die Arbeit der Written Art Collection, Hauptleihgeberin der aktuellen Ausstellung »Die Schrift ist weiblich. Bild und Text in der internationalen Kunst« gibt. Seit 2011 sammelt der Unternehmer Christian Boehringer kalligrafische, informelle und konzeptuelle Werke von Künstler:innen aus drei Kulturkreisen: dem Westen, dem Mittleren und dem Fernen Osten. Inzwischen umfasst die Sammlung der Written Art Collection über 400 Gemälde, Papierarbeiten und Fotografien von 1945 bis heute. Asemic writing is a wordless written art form. Through the use of writing-like but unreadable lines and shapes, a space is formed in which the viewer can create or derive their own meaning. Generating room to appreciate gesture and work, I have been fascinated by my own incidental asemic formulations through stitch. While writing in a predictable English format in red thread on one side, a whole new and constantly expanding alphabet is created on the underside of the fabric. To me, these organic markings reflect an emotive and frenetic scaffold of comprehension, with many details to fill at will. With each page turn, these formations are revealed in greater variety. I wrote this a few years ago & for some reason, I couldn't finish it properly. Every year I change it. I think I've re-written the last verse about 4 times! It's still not right! 😅 'There is a place for you' There is a place for you, A gap and a space for use, And you can drop all your attitude, The act is so cool, But I'm telling truth, In this space, It's unconditional. Rewind it back, In a head nodding atmosphere, Where yes, You're the best, And there is no trying here, And where you go, And how you flow, Is now crystal clear. Your core truth is a sword, Protection or pain, Depends on your skill, On your word, You maintain, You're brighter than the Sun, Stronger than a hurricane. Yesterday I woke up with heaviness. Life just immediately felt ‘off’ and I had a hard time getting out of bed with that feeling. My mind was already racing. I couldn’t pin point one single thing that was heavy - it kinda felt like every thing?! . But I got up and did my devotional (which was SPOT ON 🙏🏻) but still just felt BLAH. Then I went to my studio and just did what I could muster up energy for. . I hate days like that. (And I hate the word hate 🫠) but truly- when I feel any underlying heaviness or anxiety, I just want to hide. My natural instinct is to turn inward. . I was talking to my sister about it last night (she could tell something was weighing on me) and through talking to her, I realized that when work is so crazy and FULL - like I’m so grateful but if I add one more thing I may break down ‘full’ - that I tend to feel out of control in other areas of my life and I spiral. . When I realized that, I smiled. Because HELLO!! Thank you Jesus that YOU’RE in control! 🙏🏻 I can literally give it to YOU! So I lay in my bed last night grateful knowing that my life is NOT out of control. It’s IN perfect control. Also, thank you Jesus for emotional intelligence to know that your mercies are new every morning. I can have peace knowing you are in control. . PS. 'Your Life Is Your Purpose' Living your Life, is your 'Purpose', Not your Personality or what you do. It's the Life that is within and around you. It's enough, just living; that's not worthless. And who you are, are not the 'things' you choose. All Your Goals have no meaning, They come and go like your thoughts, There is no end, its a trap and your caught, And you constantly pursue what is fleeting. Who you are, are not the 'things' you sought. The world exists right now, for you. If you spent one day looking about, It'd take lifetimes to figure it all out. And these Materialistic things that you do, Questions your perfect existence with doubt. We forget that our life is our own. We don't need to 'do' anything for others. And find grounding, that there's really no darkness, Because you're never really alone. And you can shape the world with what you harness. You can be 'nothing' and hear the birds sing For what, are you being so useful? You can smile in stillness amidst a whirlpool, If you realise you have everything. 'This Is The Only Time I'll Talk About My Past' I was conceived in order to trap a man, surrounded by booze and violence, But now I understand. Watching my Mum flirt with men, Taking me to pubs when I was 10, And yes, I was drinking.. With a drunk Father at home waiting. My dad was a very angry drunk, And he'd hit my older brothers, He put a hammer through the TV once, Because it was morning & he was hungover. 2am Mum's crying on the neighbour's shoulder, The police called , but no charges ordered, And he stopped after that exposure. I was teased for looking different at school, I was half Russian/Greek, And no one thought that was cool, I was the object of ridicule, And my life was a chaotic whirlpool. Man, kids can be so cruel. My whole life, I was afraid of men, Mum made sure of that So she could have first dibs on them, Until at 18, I met Brandon, But by then, I had stopped caring, And I was the worst trouble for him. An autoimmune illness took me over at 25, And I realized I had no support, And that I've been used my whole life, But Fuck it, I thought, I'll fight, And eventually I came right, And everyday I celebrate life! I don't talk past with Mum, she's in denial. My dad passed from a heart attack, And I avoid Mum's Drunk dials. I'm 45, still alone, but now I smile, Because I finally know I'm worthwhile. I spent my life living for someone else , And always found myself alone, First my Mother and then my Spouse, And I'm just waiting now to get out. 🩵 Manchmal braucht es eine Pause, um wieder leichter weitergehen zu können.. Wo bist du gerade? Hast du dich mal umgeschaut? Siehst du dein Ziel, das in der Zukunft liegt? Der Weg ist jetzt! Auf dem Weg liegen Steine, mal kommt Schatten, mal Sonne. Da sind Blumen und Bäume, Vögel, die zwitschern und über dir her fliegen. Das Rauschen des Flusses, der neben deinem Weg fließt gestaltet die Landschaft deines Weges. Mal fließt er ruhig und leise und kleine Wellen hüpfen glucksend über Kiesel, mal fließt er schneller, reißt Stöcke mit sich, bildet kleine Buchten zum Verweilen, bietet Ruhezonen und beeindruckt mit Wasserfällen. Und immer fließt er. Wenn du die Steine deines Weges ins Wasser wirfst, können Staudämme entstehen. Sie unterbrechen den Fluss deines Lebens, stauen das, was natürlich fließt. Der Fluss wird trockener, versorgt deine Umgebung nicht mehr vollständig. Der Staudamm verändert das, was ist, was kommt und was sein wird. Stell dir vor, was alles sein kann, wenn du loslässt, den Staudamm einreißt und dein Wasser natürlich fließen kann... Es versorgt die Landschaft und Lebewesen mit neuer Energie, es sprießen wieder Pflanzen und es blühen mehr Blumen, andere Gewässer werden gefüllt, dein Weg befruchtet... Es ist dein Weg. 'Round Holes & Square Pegs'. I struggle with this notion of fitting in.. or not, And so what?.. Why?... And who, are these people who've decided these rules, Rulers, Ruled, Measured.. Guide lines, You must fit in, but what if you're spilling out the sides?? your tailored pants don't fit my thighs!... My sighs, Audibly loud as I shake my head, Without the 9 to 5, Spouse & Kid, does that make you in-valid? Validity, the measurement by a society, broken down to its basic meaning, Means, acknowledgment of the crowd, But be careful not to shout too loud... And don't be weird, and tell people you have a cross-legged Buddha inside your head, Sitting in a field of poppies, telling you what to do instead. And I wonder if being an 'Artist' is still a label I wear? and if I told people I do nothing, would that make me a – No-Thing, And if being stripped so bare, If I fell in a forest and no one was around, would I still make a sound? Without the approval of the crowd? OH, the roles that were supposed to play! It is shocking that I'm unmarried and without a kid at this stage, But what's shocking is this shocking in this day & age, You can have your cage, to avoid being alone, the fat lady has sung her song, Eventually, you get to the point of no return, And the point is that there's no point, and you have to unlearn what you've learned. ...Or is that just a bit too Zen?.... I know what happens when you get to your end.. You rewind it back and start all over again, And I guess I've answered my own question, This notion of fitting in doesn't really exist, Do you have to struggle to find your bliss? Always begging for a wish.. to be on the list... Stuffing down your soul, like stuffing a wild tiger into a tiny hole, And it's bursting out the seams of your overstretched skin, Until you can't take anymore and yell: "I give in!" 30 x 40 x 1.5 acrylic on canvas - I don’t think I posted a full length image of this one finished, yet. This was a very special commission for a client, gifted to her husband on their anniversary. 💖 such a sweet message behind the piece -the location where he first proposed - in Saint Anthony's Garden just behind St. Louis Cathedral in the heart of the French Quarter. The garden features the well-known statue of Jesus with his arms outstretched,over head, casting an extraordinary shadow against the back wall of the Cathedral. The statue and shadow became the focus in this piece. Definitely one of my favorite commissions I’ve painted lately 💖💖💖
