All Star Movies is a great place to stay with a young child. We stayed there in 2000 for 9 nights when my daughter was age 6. When traveling at that age I kept my daughter on her normal routine, wake-up, breakfast, lunch, dinner and bedtime. I found this to make both of us have a much more enjoyable vacation because there was no overtired crabby kid to deal with. We used the food court often because most of the time a meal was large enough for both of us. We would return to the resort in the hottest part of the day and spend time at one of the pools or playground. When returning to the resort in the evening we would explore a different part of the resort before returning to the room for bath time, writing in a journal, reading, and bedtime. In all between 2000-2003 we spent 33 nights at an All-Star Resort over 4 vacations. Imagine being a six year old and finding these larger than life characters when going for a walk at night. In 1998, long before Brickley these were the @lego icons in the Downtown Disney Market Place area. Back then they had a lot of Lego play tables and a Step 2 type Firehouse playscape. Goofy dressed in his finest western wear for Mickey’s Backyard BBQ in 1998 in Fort Wilderness. We did this a couple times when my daughter was age 4 and 6. It was a great experience both times. She had one on one experiences with the characters. Buffet food was great, personally I loved the corn on the cob, fried chicken, watermelon, and beer. Cyclone Sally and Tumbleweed Will were sort of the hosts. Before we entered the hall we had pictures with them and Sally told us funny stories appropriate to make a 4 year old giggle and laugh. Our first Chef Mickey experience in 1998 was memorable. My daughter was age 4. We were seated by the swinging kitchen doors. After visiting us, Mickey swung around to go to the next table at the exact moment a server came through the swinging doors with a birthday cake. The cake went flying to the floor and the Mom who ordered the cake for her daughter was livid at the table across from us. Mickey dreams he is a sorcerer’s apprentice with the power to control water, color and magic. The Villains form a dragon and turn the dream into a nightmare. Legendary good vs. evil plot. Walt Disney World Swan/Dolphin Resort by Marriott is in the EPCOT Resorts area between EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. December 2023. They really do it up at Christmas. Lights outside, a Twinkly tree in the Lobby that changes light patterns, and the Christmas tree in the revolving doors.
