As long as we do this, God will live in us, and will share his Spirit with us. In the Gospel, taken from Jesusโs priestly prayer to the Father, Jesus prays that the disciples will remain true to his name. As the Father sent Jesus into the world, so he now sends his followers. May they be united in faith and love. What strikes me most as I read this passage? Perhaps I ponder Godโs love for me, and pray to be ever more convinced of it, so that I can love others with this same love. I speak to the Lord about this. In what way have I sometimes felt the Spirit at work in me?

"This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you." What does this mean? How does Jesus love? Jesus tells this parable to the disciples at the Last Supper when he gives his body in the bread, his blood in the wine. He tells it before he gives his whole life on the cross. The mountain is you, Brianna Weist. These words are extremely powerful and have been validation while on this path. When things first started unravelling for me I thought it was supposed to look a certain way. I thought I should go from point A to point B and then it would look like point C. But itโs not like that all. When I stopped caring and tuned the world out, turned inwards for the answers that is when the magic happened, thatโs where things shifted. Acceptance was a huge part of this for me, acceptance for who I was, who she was, everything she went through. Acceptance that I am no longer that person but she is still apart of me. I honour her for she is not who I am today but she helped get me to where I stand. Blessed Fourth Sunday After Easter. ๐๐ Collect: O God, Who dost make the minds of the faithful to be of one accord, grant Thy peoples that they may love what Thou commandest and desire what Thou dost promise, so that, amid the changing things of this world, our hearts may be set where true joys abideโ. Epistle: 1 James 1, 17-21 Gospel: John 16, 5-14 Sermon: Father preached on todayโs Epistle and the necessity to be โswift to hear, but slow to speak, and slow to angerโ. We are now preparing to celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Father said we must be listening to the Holy Spirit and we must listen more than talk. Especially, in our dealings with others, we must not fall into speaking ill of others. We must be wary of saying negative things about others even when we are speaking the truth, lest we commit the sin of gossip or detraction. In the Bible, speaking ill of someone always merits punishment, for example, Miriam the sister of Moses was struck with leprosy after speaking ill of her brother. (Numbers, 12). This leprosy contaminates everything both physically and spiritually and causes problems for other people. Today's Source & Summit: Sunday, April 28, 2024 Fifth Sunday of Easter Acts 9:26โ31 Psalm 22:26โ28, 30โ32 1 John 3:18โ24 John 15:1โ8 In todayโs First Reading we see Saul, later known as Paul, having an encounter with the disciples. At first, the disciples were wary. Saul was well known around the Holy Land as a persecutor of Christians. However, Barnabas intervenes and connects Saul to the disciples by testifying to Saul's transformation and his newfound faith in Jesus Christ. This passage illustrates the power of forgiveness and redemption, showing how Saul's past actions were not held against him once he embraced his new identity as a follower of Christ. The first thing that came to my mind after reading this passage was acceptance, and how we are called to accept everyone as quickly as Jesus did. Although skeptical at first, all it took for the disciples to accept Saulโs reformation was Barnabas vouching for him. The unity and support demonstrated within the early Christian community are also evident in this passage. This passage speaks to me specifically as a high school senior as I am only a few days away from graduation. In college, people wonโt always be accepting of me at first. I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me. Again, Jesus expresses that his place among his people is right in the midst of them. Not at the head of banquet tables, or reclining in a comfortable bed while they slept outside, but with them, day and night. Referencing the Good Shepherd from Psalm 23, we hear Jesus compare himself to this vocation that had little or no education, was one of the lowest socioeconomic classes, and stays with his flock day and night. Although we might find the path difficult, and feel unsure of what the future holds, we will be transformed into Godโs likeness when we meet him. If I find difficult to pray the text as it stands, I may want to make it personal to me and put it in the first person. I stay with this awhile. What happens? Perhaps I recall instances where the love of God has been lavished on me and on my loved ones, and eased a difficult situation. What the future holds is not yet clear. How much does this bother me?

The humanity of the apostles continues to be seen even after Jesus has been raised from the dead. Their grief and confusion at the loss of their Lord and friend is seen throughout the last chapters of the Gospels. Jesus' resurrection didn't remove his scars. It didn't remove the apostles grief and uncertainty. Time and time again, Jesus responds with greetings of peace and unending mercy and compassion.
