For the first time in history, the 69th UN Civil Society Conference was held in Africa - at the UN Office at Nairobi. This is my race face. 🤪 I like to race hard, but I wouldn't even be putting my shoes on if this wasn't fun for me. Running is my therapy; I take things seriously, but not too seriously, and the day it stops being fun is when I know it's gone too far. Trail running is absolutely up there on the type 2 end of the fun spectrum. Whilst some people love to send it round a few hundred meters on a track at high speed, I'm all about those muddy, painful, long and miserable sufferfests. Maybe it's the problem solver in me? When you're running for half a day straight, things will break on you, and even staying mentally alert to the turns and twists ahead can become a challenge in itself. Or maybe it's that brutal satisfaction in knowing you can? Each step becomes a result of your own determination and perseverance, simply seeking to see how far you can push yourself. Whatever it is, I keep running, because this is my therapy... And this is fun. 😎 📸 @_chieeee

#UNCSC was a unique opportunity to connect with fellow feminists from around the world and plan for the upcoming Summit of the Future. We believe the #SOTF will be a foundational building block for the post-2030 agenda, as well as key processes that shape global narratives in the lead up to 2030. It is vital that its outcome documents feature: 1️⃣ Comprehensive SRHR and gender equality for all, especially for adolescent girls, women, and gender-diverse people. 2️⃣ Adolescent girls’ unique needs and priorities — as a constituency distinct from children, youth, or women. These needs and priorities should be those that girls themselves are calling for, and should be grounded in data, evidence, and girls’ lived experiences 3️⃣ Measures to address the gendered impacts of the #ClimateCrisis and building #ClimateResilience of girls, women, and gender-diverse people 4️⃣ Meaningful and equitable inclusion and leadership of adolescent girls, youth, women, and gender-diverse people in all SOTF priorities Together we can ensure that #GenderEquality and #SRHR for adolescent girls, women, and gender diverse-people are included in the Pact for the Future to ensure that the post-2030 agenda is progressive and inclusive. Toasty. 🔥 On paper I'm not sure if things were quite as hot as last year's similar scorcher, but something about the temperature today seemed to hit way harder. Like last year, I rolled through the first half of the course fairly comfortably, coming through in a similar amount of time. Things turned on the climb; about halfway up there's an exposed section, and the heat here just called my energy. I wasn't the only one, with a few of us barely hanging on to avoid a dreaded death march up the remainder. Things felt better once we'd crested the top, but I didn't want to push on the technical sections given the 'not quite healed' cracked toe I was running with. With the technical stuff out the way, I tapped into a little reserve energy and managed to lay down some good pace to the finish, picking up a decent number of places in the process. It's the slowest time I've posted on this course, although a few changes to the route do account for some of that. Despite everything though, it was still good enough to finish just one spot outside the top twenty, which on a cracked toe seems like a bit of a win. 🤣 This wine is for perseverance. 🍷 📸 @_chieeee
