Activating event - learn what these are so that you can recognise when you may need to reframe your beliefs/thoughts. Beliefs - there will be some automatic thoughts that arise like a chain reaction. Be aware of these. Observe these without becoming them. Consequences - those thoughts are what causes the emotions in you. What emotions arise as a consequence of those thoughts? Lessons I learned: • Lead indicators & Lag indicators 📈 Lead indicators are what you can control. Posting every day. Going to the gym. Etc. Lag indicators are the end result you want. • Discipline & consistency with lead indicators to reach my lag goals 🎯 ESPECIALLY when it seems that I'm not getting anywhere. That's not a sign to slow down and I've up - rather it's a sign to buckle up and see if I've been consistent enough. • Where has my creativity gone? 🎨 In a recent conversation, I realized I've lost my inspiration or desire to create for the sake of creating. Writing or drawing - which used to bring me SO much joy- is now something I have to push myself to do. I came across a term "dopamine sickness" by Cal Newport. And I think dopamine addiction has not only impacted my focus, but also stripped me of the empty space to be creative and to feel true joy. • Be bored 🏡 This will help combat the dopamine sickness) • Limit myself to 3 lag indicators in May ✨️ For me, it's the 1st 3 goals of May. How to discover your purpose with the philosophy called Ikigai... Ikigai is a Japanese concept that means "a reason for being". It suggests that your purpose can be discovered by answering these 4 questions... 1) What am I good at? 2) What do I love doing? 3) What does the world need? 4) What can I get paid for? When the answer to these 4 questions are in alignment, you have your purpose... However, where I see people fall down is in the 4th question... Most people can recognise when they're doing something that they enjoy and don't enjoy. If time flies while you're doing it and you don't want to stop, or you want to do it again, then you probably enjoy what you're doing. But the problem is that most people don't believe that they can get paid for doing that thing... The problem is in your belief. The problem is not the world and it isn't that you're insufficient. The problem is that you haven't adopted a strategy that can move you towards your goal consistently. You either fail to begin or you fail to continue. As the unforgettable Baron Munchausen said: “You are too serious, gentlemen!” - and too much seriousness leads to constant tension and ultimately to breakdown. Luck, on the contrary, chooses those who look at their affairs less fatally and understand that winning the lottery is always impossible. But a loss can be followed by a win. So keep it exciting! And also any problem ceases to be important if you “make fun of it” - it works 100%. It's not easy to do, but it can be done. And as soon as you laugh at the problem, it deflates like a balloon.
