The Andrews Chapel School in Upson County. The school for white children was established in 1876 by local grist mill owner Thomas Andrews and named Andrews Academy. In 1896 Andrews’ daughter was married in the schoolhouse and the name was changed to Andrews Chapel School. In 1911 the original building was destroyed in a storm. This building was completed in 1912. In the 1930s additional space was added on to the back of the school. Classes continued to be held here through 1941. The school was then used as a community clubhouse until 2018 when the county took ownership of the property. Her recordings helped her to learn and make discoveries about the creatures that she observed. How I feel after doing shot put all day 🤣🤣 Great Athletics Carnival with another small school in the network. Was great to see the kids shine! As we were at school getting ready to go on the bus, I told the kids to go to the toilet… “Mrs Lucas, we forgot to unlock the toilets so us boys just did bush wees behind the back of the building…” 🤦🏻♀️ I reminded them that next time they should come and tell me so the toilets could be unlocked. They were eventually unlocked but looks like they got creative. Bush wees are how you know you teach country kids 🙈
