The Waldsteins Lions in the Service of Emperors As part of the long-term project “In the Footsteps of Noble Families” by the @npu.cz , the Valdštejn family was introduced in 2020. We designed a distinctive visual style based on the family’s colors and a diagonally divided space. In one part, image motifs were placed, and in the other, the project’s graphic symbol. The culmination of this year was a panel exhibition in the garden of the Senate of the Czech Republic. -— V rámci dlouhodobého projektu Národního památkového ústavu Po stopách šlechtických rodů byl představen v roce 2020 rod Valdštejnů. Navrhli jsme výrazný vizuální styl, který byl založen na rodových barvách a diagonálně rozdělenému prostoru. V jedné části byly umístěny obrazové motivy, v druhé grafická značka projektu. “Gift for Mandrake” Mythology and the natural world fascinates me, the world of folklore leaves history open in so many mustered and things we have yet to explain, and sometimes there’s natural phenomena that provide an amazing story stronger than fiction, did you know it took me years to find out mandrakes are a real plant and not just something from a Harry Potter movie? Mandrakes are plants known for their human-shaped roots that allude to their name, as well as their hallucinogenic properties that lend themselves to witchcraft and other potions, and the way in which their supposedly formed ((in mythology anyway)) is that their plant like beings grown from human remains, similar to how a #homunculus is made in alchemy. I wanted to do something similar to old #renessaince paintings with emphasis on surrealism, like #williamblake or #fransiscogoya but less graphic XP There are a lot of paintings that depict mythical creatures as monstrous figures as spectacles to gawk at, or others where their tormenting or being killed by people, so to then the tables I wanted to do something set after man’s downfall in which a new species emerges, with a little hint of allegorical reference with the snake and the apple. In Duomo di Milano there is his statue which has been made by Marco d’Agrate, who was Italian sculptor, mostly active in Lombardy region during the Renaissance period. The sculpture was originally crafted in 1562 and it stands on the left of the altar of Duomo di Milano and is considered the most notable piece of art in the cathedral. All of Bartholomew’s muscles, veins, and tendons are exposed across the statue.
