This is such a perfect way to add that extra light your plants will need this fall and winter. They are so used to that bright light spring and summer brings, you need to supplement with some grow lights. There is so many out there, and some are just not cute. Using your own lamps won’t compromise your aesthetic, while adding the light your plants need. This is also a very inexpensive way to add grow lights as the grow bulbs can be more affordable. I am going to use this one from sansi_light , it looks amazing and this Maranta loves its bright indirect light so it will definitely love it. Have you added some grow lights to your set up? I am probably using about 6 different grow lights right now and I am thinking of adding more 😅 #sansi #growlights #marantalemonlime #plantsmakepeoplehappy #indoorjungle #homejungle #plantlover #plantlife #plantas #houseplants #plantcare #planttips

More explanations below ⬇️🪴🐱 1. Large rocks can help prevent digging 2. Giving your cat their own plant can help train them to leave your plants alone! 😮 Cats have a natural urge to play with and chew on plants. Imagine we placed you in a room with your FAVORITE sweet treats and told you not to touch ANY of them. You’d have a pretty hard time resisting right! But if we said “here’s one you can eat until your hearts content… just leave the rest alone” you’d have a much easier time doing it because you’re able to scratch that urge! 3. While your cats are still learning not to play with your plants, make sure you keep them out of reach when you’re not away. Otherwise all your training is pointless. 4. Something that helped us train them was redirecting them when they would start to look interested in a plant. This can be done with their favorite toy, treats, or affection! Just be careful to not let it get to a point where your cat thinks they have to play with the plant to get your attention. 5. We use one of these air canisters to prevent the cats from climbing on top of Goji’s enclosure and it works like a CHARM. It could definitely work for plants too. The funny thing is, ours has been empty for over 3 months but the cats have no interest in even attempting to climb up there anymore. You can find a link for this in my bio under Amazon favs. ☺️❤️ Do you have cats, plants, or both?! 🪴🐱 . . . . . . . #catsandplants #plantsandcats #cattraining #planttips #loveplants #catmomlife #catobsessed #plantobsessed

These hacks are all like factories for fruit flies. If you're a fruit fly farmer, then you may get some value out of them! Producing any kind of fertilizer or extracting any useful amount of insecticidal oil from plants takes time and a specific sort of process. Beware *anyone* who's telling you that you can go from fresh banana peels (or whatever) to a miracle fertilizer in 20 minutes. The process to get from a to b often takes weeks! #planthacks #planttips #weaponizednonsense

Fall is here and our plants are going to start feeling the change. Cleaning the leaves is super important to me since the plants will be working with much less light. You can do this any way you want, but the cleaner the leaves are the better they will be able to photosynthesize any light that they do receive. I use drbronner peppermint Castile soap, it is safe and peppermint is a natural pest repellent. Sometimes I’ll also add some neem oil if I am dealing with some pests. Happy Wednesday 🤗 I’m always happy to share items that I find that really work. These hair pins are absolutely perfect for pinning down vines to the soil. They are bigger so they fit the vines much better, but better yet…..they don’t rust! They are stainless steel, and honestly makes me feel much better about putting them in the soil. I added these to my Amazon store front so you are able to get some for yourself 🤗 Hope you have a great rest of your week💚 #planthacks #plantcare #planttips #trailingplants #indoorjungle #homejungle #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantlover #plantlife

If you have a decorative pot you love, but it doesn't have drainage holes, put your plant in a cheap nursery pot with holes first, and then put a nice layer of pebbles in the bottom of the decorative pot before putting your plain-potted plant in there. The pebbles will help keep your plants from sitting in excess water. #tipoftheweek #planttips #mnflowerfarm #flowerfarm #flowerfarmer #eastgrandforksmn #grandforksnd #eastgrandforksflowerfarm

I am trying to save this Calathea😅 I used to not have any, now I have 3 and dealing with the consequences! This plant is not growing any new leaves and some are getting crispy. This is one attempt to keep it happy. I could have just used water but why not try this ceramsite again. I love it, it’s very pretty. It doesn’t hold water like Leca does though so this set up has to be fully hydroponic. This means I keep it all filled with water at all times. I’m hoping it stays happy in here and grows in the ceramsite as it would grow in water. It’s a very cute plant, and paired with the ceramsite, I am loving the combo. Have you used ceramsite? What was your experience? #calatheastromanthe #ceramsite #plantcare #planttips #plantlover #plantlife #indoorjungle #homejungle

Here is a question I get a lot…how can I make my plant fuller? The best way I know is to propagate, you simply take cuttings of your plant and once rooted you place them back into the same pot. Some plants don’t even need to root, you can just simply place them back into the soil. What happens is where you make the cut a new growth point is activated and the growth will continue, but now you also have a whole new start with the cutting. You can do this as many times as you want, just take your time. Taking too much at once can cause stress to the plant. If you want a faster way to a fuller pot….just buy another bigger plant 😅 lately I’ve been shopping in the theplantstoryapp and I am literally becoming obsessed 🫢 #plantstoryapp #trailingthingsthursday #marantalemonlime #planttips #plantcare #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantlover #plantlife #indoorjungle #homejungle #houseplants #indoorplants

It has been a few weeks since I brought this plant home and the leaves started dying fast. I watered this plant thoroughly so I know that wasn’t the issue. I have to repot it so I can check the roots, and I used this opportunity to combine my 2 Snow Queen Pothos. There was some issues with the soil and there was some root rot, hoping that I got it all. I went from 2 6” pots to one 8” pot using my chunky soil mix. These plants can easily get root rot if the soil doesn’t drain properly, so I like to use a chunky mix. Gave this baby a shower and deep watering, I always make sure to do this after a repot. It looks so happy already, I am in love with the way it looks and believe it or not I am going to hang this….just don’t know where yet 👀 #snowqueen #snowqueenpothos #repot #plantcare #planttips #indoorjungle #homejungle #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantlover #plantlife

Yes…..they’re probably already dying. Plant shops and nurseries are more likely to have happy and healthy plants. The plant section of hardware stores and big box stores are probably going to have plants that need something. Sometimes the issue is not so apparent and we buy these plants, later asking ourselves what we did wrong when the plant suddenly dies. Other times there are signs you can look for to make sure you’re taking home a healthy plant. Really take a look at your plant when buying, that way you can make sure it’s going to survive while acclimating to your home. Taking them from one environment to another is already going to cause some stress, a happy and healthy plant will be able to easily survive this period. Hope this helps on your next trip to buy a plant🤗 #newplants #plantshopping #plantlover #plantlife #indoorplants #houseplants #planttips #plantcare

Ok, plants do purify the air…. but it’s just not enough to really make a difference in our home. In order for us to really purify the air in our home with plants we would literally need hundreds of them. And yes, I have about 200 of them, but I mean hundreds per room. When I hear about plants purifying the air, they often refer to a 1989 NASA report. However, more recent studies have shown that having some houseplants will not really make a difference in the air quality of our home. They are just not an effective tool to reduce air pollution. You are definitely better off using an air purifier that will definitely make a difference. Instead of purifying the air, plants really make a difference in our physical and mental health. They reduce stress and anxiety, and can boost your mood and creativity. They do so much for us, plants do make people happy. They really do remove toxins from the air as well, but not enough to make a difference. #houseplantmyths #planttips #plantcare #indoorplants #houseplants #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantlife #plantlover #homejungle #indoorjungle

The part that makes me the most sad is… this is not the first time this happens to me with this plant, but I keep getting it. I just completely lied to myself because I said I was going to repot it, then I got busy with life and completely forgot about. I glanced over before I left on my road trip and noticed some yellow leaves, sadly it was too late to do anything about it, we had to go. When I got back I got super sick and only started feeling better around Wednesday night. I had so much to catch up on that I didn’t get to this until yesterday 😬 it was definitely too late. Root rot works fast, and it completely took over in this plant. The only thing I had left to do was to propagate as much of it as possible. I was able to get the vines since the rot had not traveled up that high yet. Now I am going to patiently wait for some roots, but with the luck I’ve had with this plant….I might just leave it in water🤷🏽‍♀️ Anyways…I am back! I am feeling so much better and I’m ready for this week, hope you have a wonderful start to yours 💚 #njoy #pothosnjoy #trailingplants #plantcare #planttips #plantpropagation #propagation #indoorjungle #indoorplants #houseplants #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantlover #plantlife

Even plants need a good cleaning sometimes! Dust buildup can hinder their ability to absorb sunlight and breathe. Here's how to keep them dust-free: 🌿 Gentle Wipe-Down: Use a damp cloth to gently wipe down the leaves of your plants. This removes dust and allows them to photosynthesise efficiently. 🚿 Shower Power: For larger plants, consider giving them a shower to thoroughly rinse away dust and debris. #planttips #gardenstationrosedale

This week's Easy Plant Care Tip: Feel the Soil to Know How Often to Water Your Plants For potted plants at home, you may be unsure of how often to water them. For most plants, the golden rule is to see if the first inch or so of soil is dry. If dry, this is an indication that the plant needs water. If there are leaves that have shriveled or are dry/discolored, the plant might need a little extra water than your regular routine. #albuquerquegardencenter #albuquerquenm #plantcare #planttips #plantinfo

The hardest part of plant care is staying consistent. I’ve been keeping up with this veitchii for 3 years now. If I could only keep one plant it would be this one. Tips: 1. Give it a grow light or 2-4 hours of direct light 2. Use nutrients with every watering, and water before the soil dries out or every 2-4 days. 3. Use a kelp based foliar spray. Kelp sprays have been shown to improve resistance to plant stressors and they encourage root growth. 4. Be patient and stay consistent. Plants enjoy being left alone. I try not to move my plants unless it’s necessary. I’ve been using the same nutrients for a couple of years and I think that makes a difference. My favorite growers tend to pick something and stick with it. 5. Have a magic cat. This one is pretty self explanatory #plants #anthurium #anthuriumveitchii #houseplant #plantsathome #plants #plantsofinstagram #planttips

Plant parents! 💥 If you've been to the Lowe's plant section recently, I'm coming to you with a few simple tricks to make bringing a new plant home easy! A lot of the times, plants can be overwatered in larger stores, bringing home pests that would love to jump on any current plants you have at home. 🪴 Quarantine your new plant baby, spray it off with water, and apply neem oil to help eliminate any pests! Bonus trick! Cinnamon is great for houseplant pest control. 😉

Today is the kickoff of National Public Gardens Week, so here's a shoutout to the 60 public gardens and university independent trial gardens across North America who trial Proven Winners every year. We are thankful for the hard work and reporting the dedicated staff at these gardens put in to help us better understand how our plants perform in different climates. Proven Winners is ultimately a better brand because of these fine folks. Public and university gardens are open to the public during daylight hours and have their plants labeled for easy identification. We encourage you to make a point to visit those in your area to learn which plants grow best in your climate. Be sure to take lots of pictures to reference when it's time to shop. #greenthumbthursday Even though they may seem quiet, plants are actually great communicators 🗣️ • They will tell you what they need as long as you are able to read the leaves. Here are some common signs your plant needs a little TLC: 1️⃣ Brown, crunchy leaves: Your plant may need more water or more humidity. 2️⃣ Yellow at the edges: You may be overwatering your plant. Make sure you wait until the soil 1-2 inches deep is fully dry between watering. 3️⃣ Pale and limp, or leaning to the side: Your plant needs more sun. Relocate the pot to a window with bright, indirect light. 4️⃣ Burnt top of leaves: Your plant is getting a sunburn and could use a little more shade. Let’s grow together! 🌱 #nisshoca #honesty #quality #integrity #landscape #plants #horticulture #plants #plantcare #houseplantcare #plantcareguide #plantleaves #houseplants #gardeningtips #indoorgardening #hacks #indoorjungle #planttips #fastgrowing

My Top 5 Low Light Plants (I didn’t say NO ☀️ plants) We all have darker areas of our homes that we want to include some greenery in, ammirite?!? All plants need sunlight to provide energy for growth. But some require less than others. These are my top 5 choices for a medium to low light setting. ZZ Plant - this would be great for almost any area of your home that gets MODERATE to low light - a kitchen counter, a bathroom or even your office. Also - another benefit of this plant - it doesn’t have to be watered very often. Always make sure you let this plant dry out completely before watering. Snake Plant - you’ll want to place this plant someplace where it will get some light, so maybe by a North facing window. Another plant that is good with a little neglect - these plants only need watered deeply about once a month. Aglaonema - another great lower light plant! It thrives best in medium-bright, indirect light but it will tolerate a lower light setting. It will just be a slower grower. Golden Pothos - everyone’s gateway plant 🪴 🤣♥️ I absolutely love a good golden pothos! These plants love a low to medium light situation! So near a North facing window would be great! Philodendron Brasil - you’ll see more of their variegation if you provide bright, indirect light, but these babies will tolerate lower light. Which ones do you have? #lowlightplants #plants #planttips #plantsagram #planttipsandtricks #plantsathome #plantsplantsplants #houseplants #indoorplants #indoorjungle #urbanjungle

When I posted about plants in water, I received messages telling me their plants in water get rot somehow. I had the same experience once with Deliciosa and this tip worked very well. It was rot due to high temperature. recommend changing the water more often in summer. If the roots are rot, my tip is: - Remove the rot part - Clean the roots with water. - Dip the entire roots into the solution of 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide to 1 cup of water for 10-20 min - Clean the roots again with water and put it back in the vase with water. This should kill bacteria that cause rot, and it works very well for me. 🌱 Happy Propogating 🌱 @monko_the_plant #waterpropagation #propagation #plantpropogationtips #planttips #plantloversmeetup #plantlovers
