My cup is still overflowing from the Poderosa healing circle event I organized this past weekend. Special thank you to the facilitators @cocospicy , @lunasenlightenment and @kitty for sharing your time and energy with the group. This time around I brought my daughter with me and it made it so much more special because I wanted her to see how women hold space for each other, how she can try some of these practices to regulate her emotions and most importantly so she can see how her momma practices self care while holding space for others. . . These events came out of a need to connect with other people while also exploring healing practices and welcoming community. What a gift to be a facilitator with Carcross/Tagish First Nation and this wonderful, courageous group! Amidst loss and challenges, we finished our second week for the 2nd level peacemaking course. Grateful for the big questions, deep learning, heartfelt sharing and gorgeous land. We gather in the spectacular Haa Shagóon Hídi (Our Ancestors House). Students of North Park Theological Seminary's Master’s in Christian Restorative Arts Program at Stateville CC recently deepened their investment in restorative justice by completing the 4-day Peace-Circle Training offered by Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation and Restore Justice Foundation. When the world feels heavy, we need to grieve. And if there’s one thing I’ve learnt about grief it’s that it is impossible to push down and ignore. I can see so many people hurting and feeling, shouting with rage at one another. I can also feel the hearts of so many broken people, mainly mothers, heartbroken for the children. I needed to stop and process my own feelings about the world, and remind myself about the importance of why we continue to parent the way we do. Joss @awareparentingwithjoss and I had such an incredibly beautiful conversation this morning filled with compassion and love for each other. In this conversation we spoke about how each time we listen deeply to our children and allow them to be the fullness of who they are, we are supporting and offering the world something else, that’s much needed. I want to honour, connect, support and share with you about how these big world events can be reminder of the choices we make with our own little people each and every day. I’d love to invite you to a collective circle for peace if you live local on the Surfcoast. Twelve brave young people from different ethnic groups, who have suffered due to the Burundi socio-political crisis, came together for IofC Burundi’s peace circle. 🕊️ They discussed the vital concepts of ‘peace’ and ‘forgiveness’ through ten themes and shared their personal stories for reconciliation. These inspiring individuals identified their talents, delved into psychological and economic resilience mechanisms, and planned to initiate peace and development initiatives. Congratulations to participants completing the peacemaking Foundations with Carcross/Tagish First Nation! I’m honoured to be the facilitator for the final 4th week of this program. It was a beautiful, deep week in Circle with fabulous people in a spectacular setting. We gathered in Haa Shagóon Hídi – Our Ancestors House, on the shore of Nares lake here in the Yukon.
