|Early morning wake ups! One of the most common issues we see in our babies & kids! Why do they happen? More often than not early wake ups happen when something is off in your little ones schedule. More specifically: ▪️Not enough daytime sleep ▪️Too much daytime sleep ▪️Bedtime is too early ▪️Staying up too late What you can do to help: ▪️Make sure your child is on an age appropriate schedule (swipe to check out our nap chart for wake times). Very rarely do we see early mornings happening due to too much daytime sleep (although possible!) it is usually due to a lack of daytime sleep. Naps are so important! Good sleep begets good sleep. ▪️If you haven’t already, shift to a nap schedule by the clock (set times) rather than following and adjusting wake windows. ▪️Always go back to your original sleep training method! Use it until your scheduled wake time. If you’ve been consistent for weeks and your baby is still waking up early, try the wake to sleep approach. ▪️50 to 60 minutes before their usual early wake time, you want to gently stir them to get them back into a deeper sleep cycle. For light sleepers even just opening the bedroom door will be enough. For deep sleepers you may have to go into their room and rub their back. This can be tricky! You may end up with an even earlier wake up- if you stir them too much. The good news is they will have plenty of time to fall back asleep before their ideal wake up time!|

We have made it to the last day of April 2024 and I am so proud of myself. I challenged myself to push through the hard days…the days I just wanted to lay in bed or the days I wasn’t feeling my best emotionally. I ran on the treadmill with tears in my eyes some days but I’m so glad I did because that runners high was what I needed! On rest days I still went for walks. I promised myself that in this transformation period I’m going to train my mind and my body is going to follow! You can truly do anything you put your mind to. You have to do the hard things. Nothing worth having in life is going to come easy. It’s going to require hard work, intention, prayer and perseverance. I’m heading into chapter 37 with a renewed mind and determined heart. I crave a life of peace & happiness with the people who love me and all my quirks as I do them! We have entered blooming season! May up next! I hope this inspires someone to start being consistent in something that is good for your health and wellbeing!

Some days I struggle massively with being mum and genuinely wonder if I’m up to the job. I worry I don’t handle situations well and lose my patience too much. I worry that everything I do or say is wrong, and that they won’t want to come to me for things when they’re older. It can be overwhelming. I try to remind myself that the fact that I worry and try to be better means I am a good Mum but it’s hard not to let the negativity take over sometimes. Parenting is an emotional rollercoaster. |Let’s talk about diaper changes... During nap time: If your little one 💩 during naptime, you often need to evaluate how the nap has gone so far to decide if the nap is over or not! If you need to do a diaper change mid-nap and plan to put your babe back down, try to do it with the lights as dim as possible, make it quick, and put them right back in the crib! The following examples may help you decide what your best strategy is: ▪️If they haven’t fallen asleep yet, you’ll likely want to change their diaper and put them right back down so they can. ▪️If they slept less than an hour and the nap is usually 1.5+ hours, you COULD change them and put them back down to see if they will fall asleep. They might not fall back to sleep and that’s okay—bump that next nap up 15-30 minutes earlier if needed! ▪️If they have slept over an hour, it’s less likely they would fall back to sleep after changing them so you can call naptime over! (The exception can be if they only do one nap and usually sleep 2-3 hours!) If they have another nap happening later in the day, bump it up 15-30 minutes if needed to prevent overtiredness. If they don’t have another nap, you may need to bump bedtime up 15-30 minutes early if they slept less than usual! During nighttime: ▪️Once your baby is doing longer sleep stretches in the night, or even sleeping through the night- it is only obvious that the diaper changes will become less and less! ▪️Even if your baby is still feeding a few times at night, you may benefit from only changing soiled diapers to help them stay in a sleepier state. ▪️If you are needing to do a diaper change during the night, try keeping it as calm as possible—dim lights, no talking—it sounds so extreme but it truly does help! ▪️If you’re dealing with leaks during the night or when you get them up in the morning, go up a size! Still having issues with leaks? Try sizing up and using a night diaper, trying a couple different brands, or using a booster pad (ex. Sposie pads). Unfortunately, 💩 happens! When it’s happening during naps, it’s usually just a phase babies or toddlers go through. Stay consistent and it will pass!|
NATIONAL PRIMARY SCHOOL OFFER DAY My little guy is getting ready for primary school already! He's my lockdown baby, and it feels like just yesterday he was born. With just a week left until he turns 4, I can't help but feel a mix of emotions. I wish I could go back and relive those special baby moments, but definitely not during a lockdown! He's super excited, though, and even asked if he was starting school today when I told him this morning. It's going to be an adventure for him, especially since he'll be joining his big sister at school. The next few months are bound to be a rollercoaster. How about your little one? Easter holiday photo dump. It’s been a funny couple of weeks, it feels like the girls have been off for ages but also it’s flown by.
