August 2023 Day 3 of our anniversary trip... I completed one of the hardest hikes outside of Silverton, Colorado... The Ice Lake Basin trail was a strenuous 8.3 miles... the first 4 miles climbing the mountain to where Ice Lake is located. At first, the higher altitude was making it harder for me to catch my breath. Once I leveled out, it was a continuous uphill. Our starting elevation was 9845ft, and elevation gain was 2877ft. We completed the hike in under 4 hours and 45 minutes. After learning the average is 5 hours and 25 minutes, I felt a bit better about what we accomplished. The blue water was gorgeous, and views from the top were magnificent. Saying goodbye to my 40’s this has been a tuff year for sure but it has made me so much stronger. I’m stronger than I ever knew but that strength comes only from The Lord!
