During a recent conversation with one of my patients was advised to stay away from screens for two weeks after her concussion injury, as she was experiencing some symptoms that were attributed to excessive screen time. Hoping for a quick recovery, she followed the advice diligently. However, to her dismay, her condition did not improve even after the recommended two weeks. When she informed her practitioner about this, she was advised to continue staying away from screens for another two weeks... and then for another two weeks after that! She was put on a strict regimen, where she had to avoid using any screen for an extended period, which lasted for more than a month. During this period, she had to give up many of her daily activities, such as reading, watching TV, and working on her computer. Despite all her efforts, her symptoms did not improve, and she was advised to quit her job, which involved using a computer. This was a significant blow to her as she was passionate about her work and had invested a lot of time and effort into building her career.
