Introducing wee Soots (aka Sooty) We found this little guy howling his heart out at the side of the road on our run on Tuesday evening. He was miles from anywhere, not microchipped and so far no one has come forward to claim him. He's absolutely adorable, loves pets and tummy rubs and has a hefty appetite! With no owner coming forward and no space at the shelter, we couldn't just leave him, so for now we have a new addition to the family 🥰 We reckon he's around 10-12 weeks old and other than a strong aversion to dogs, he's got the most perfect temperament. Happy Friday 💜 I’m happy to be heading home for a bit after wrapping up a long string of travel. From a trip to @coloradowine country, to a couple others trips I have queued up to share, it’s been a whirlwind month. I love travel, I do, of course. But gosh I’d be lying if I didn’t say I am grateful for a break from it 😂 I overheard this couple on a date this week and the man told the woman “I just love your contradictions” and I smiled because I’m assuming he’s been planning that line for a while, but also because I hope that’s how people feel about me. Sometimes I worry with my “brand” being so focused on travel/outdoors/whatever that saying or doing anything seen as the opposite comes across as inauthentic (or maybe I’m just still hesitant to put myself out there after getting hundreds of emails calling me a fraud 🫠) But I can only be me. And I’d argue that contradiction is actually what makes someone authentic. I’m always me but I am the version that shows up in my environment. And there’s room for it all. Today waterfall is throwback to that time in Mexico B & I visited the town waterfall in Yelapa 😊 it was the dry season so as you can see there wasn’t much water running. Ran a random mile PR this morning. After we set up for the 5th grade track meet I saw a volunteer running laps on the track. I went to the bathroom and then came out and he was coming around the curve and I asked if I could join. We ran two laps together and then I ran two more and realized that I just PRd my mile. My last mile PR was in high school and I ran a 6:45. This morning it was a 6:31. I never train for speed but it’s been fun building fitness this training block. Now on to taper! #dontbackdown

Ironically left the city on a rare 80 degree weekend, to go hike in the snowy mountains. Absolutely no regrets though since it felt amazing to be back in the fresh air of the mountains and moving our bodies! (We may have inadvertently hiked an additional 5mi due to the snowy road blocking our car to the trailhead, and losing the trail a few times…) Who’s ready for Summer and melted mountain lakes?!

A race weekend without a #medalmonday The sleep deprivation and physically feeling like I've run an ultra this weekend have definitely given me the post race feels! I spent the last 3 days down in Eryri at UTS as a volunteer and had an absolute blast. The volunteers are the friendliest bunch of people and made it a fantastic weekend. Although I was working on registration (which I'm not going to lie, isn't the most interesting of shifts) I got out on Snowdon on Saturday afternoon, spent an hour sitting with the Mountain Rescue team making sure the runners got off Snowdon safely, ran with the sweepers back down and them made a detour to catch the 55km runners as they made their way back to Llanberis. A massive well done to everyone who ran this weekend in some pretty sweltering conditions. It was super tough out there and some amazing performances by all the runners! After 8hrs on the registration desk at @ultratrailsnowdonia it was time to get the legs moving with a 20km loop taking in Snowdon. It was 25 degrees and ridiculously busy on the way up the Llanberis path. But I came down with the 50km sweepers, cut across a small ridge to come out with some of the lead 50km runners and did my best to keep up with them back to the finish. After a disappointing stint in Portland, I found my true bliss amidst Oregon’s stunning natural wonders. 💫 I mean I really tried to love it and went in with an open mind, as I do with any city but it really just wasn’t doing it for me. All I really crave is some fresh air and outdoor adventures, and the nature surrounding the city made up for what the city itself lacked. Colombia River Gorge, now THAT is where I should’ve pitched a tent and called home for my stay there but as with everything that comes with this life, it was a lesson learnt for next time. My bank holiday has been a lovely quiet one, I’ve not been adventuring as I’ve been recovering from a cold so I have been mainly sleeping 🤣but also managed to catch up with friends :) And no missing out, as so much planned! 🥳I’ve got a bit behind sharing my recent travels as I’m a terrible multitasker, so back at it now I’m better 🙈🙃 Kyoto was busier in places than I expected to be honest, but there are some beautiful quiet spots outside the centre where locals go and this was one of my favourite little spots and made for a beautiful morning walk 🤗 There’s always somewhere lovely to discover beyond the main tourist attractions and it’s always worth giving some time just to wander and see what happens, to give yourself time to get a little most as well as have an itinerary to tick off must sees 🤗 Are you a planner or impulsive, or in-betweener?
