Fixed cost projects - Are those really successful? 🤔 Let’s check both perspectives: 🚀 Client: ❇️ Client might choose fixed cost if the scope and budget is limited. ❇️ Client does understand that - “You only get what you pay for” 💯 ❇️ Client knows the fact that delay in timeline will not cost only them but team too. At the end of the day - client needs requirement delivered on given timeline. 💯 🙂 Now there is factor of reality and circumstances. - planned leaves, sick leaves, client’s unavailablilty, holidays, team taking more time on tasks then expected. Now let’s understand team’s perspective 🚀 Your team: ❇️ When working on fixed cost project, we need to make sure we put out best resources - if you place junior resources to complete the scope where time, budget and scope is limited - failure is guaranteed at some extent. 🥲 ❇️ If you have good team - the chances of on time delivery increases. —————————- Here are some reality checks though: 💯 Timeline and dates are not written on stones. Even though it’s mentioned in sheets, mails, contract. - You can always give your best as a team to deliver it on time. Keep client and your team prepared for contingency plan. 💯 In long run, retainer projects are better than fixed cost - so take your steps to make sure you give the same understanding to your client. 💯 Delays, deadline miss, on time delivery, hiccups are part of each project cycle - it does not define whether your team is good enough or not.
