Some people ask why would {NASA, Smithsonian, Egyptologists, UNESCO, etc.} lie? Hopefully this explains it better. It's much easier to say "We don't know" or "No" than it is to explain how an iron plate was found wedged in the joints of the Great Pyramid and only found after Colonel Howard Vyse DYNAMITED the Great Pyramid to try and break into it. Extremely Rare CIC-Counter Intelligence Corps Sterling Silver Id Bracelet named to Cpl Gunther O. Sadel who was present during the Nuremberg trials. Gunther Olaf Sadel was born in Kessal Germany on August 1st 1926 and escaped from Nazi Germany during the Second World War. He came to the United States in July of 1940. Gunther Joined the United States Army on November 9th 1944. Не served as a Infantryman in France for a period of time before joining the Counter Intelligence Corps or CIC in witch he served for many years. Gunther was present during the Nuremberg Trials and came up with the Hermann Göring posion theory. Gunther was part of a five man security section attached to the Nuremberg War Crimes Trials. Gunther and four others of the Counter Intelligence Corps were labelled the "Personality's security office," and handed the unenviable job of being responsible for the security of the court, high members of the court, their billets, dining rooms where they ate, night clubs where they spent free hours in short, security of the whole Nuremberg town area The five were given complete authority over the coming and going of such VIPs (Very Important Persons) as Sir Geoffrey Lawrence, eminent British barrister, Gen. Leroy H. Watson, in charge of the International Military Tribunal, Justice Robert H. Jackson and others Gunther passed away on November 17th 2010 at the age of 84. Technical Sergeant Robert E. Matteson served in the 80th Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC) Detachment, 80th Infantry Division during World War II. Special Agent Matteson received the Silver Star for locating and capturing the Nazi’s Third Reich Chief of Security Ernst Kaltenbrunner who would be the most senior Third Reich official tried in the Nuremburg Trials. From 1943 until the end of the war, Kaltenbrunner oversaw the Nazi’s SS Gestapo, Criminal Police and Security Service. He was instrumental in orchestrating the Holocaust to which such efforts greatly increased under his command. In early May 1945, Special Agent Matteson received information as to Kaltenbrunner’s whereabouts, On May 12, he organized and led a patrol at night over the dangerous glacial trails to a remote cabin at the top of the Totes Gebirge mountains near Altaussee, Austria. Matteson’s patrol consisted of Johann Brandauer (assistant Mayor of Altaussee), four ex-Wehrmacht soldiers, and a squad of U.S. soldiers to make the arrest. The party climbed over mountainous and glacial terrain for six hours in darkness before arriving at the cabin. Dressed in Austrian clothes, Special Agent Matteson approached the cabin alone and unarmed and, after repeatedly knocking on the door, aroused the occupants who were prepared to fight until they observed the patrol approaching. After a brief standoff, Special Agent Matteson and his men captured Kaltenbrunner, his aid Arthur Scheidler, two SS guards, and found two machine pistols, four rifles, two pistols, and a submachine gun with a large supply of ammunition. Despite pleading not guilty, Kaltenbrunner was found guilty of war crimes and crimes against humanity by the International Military Tribunal on September 30, 1946, and was sentenced to death by hanging which was carried out on October 16, 1945. On Apr. 29, 1945, U.S. forces liberated the Dachau concentration camp northwest of Munich, Germany. The U.S. Army’s Seventh Army 307th Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC) Detachment immediately dispatched a team of CIC Agents to Dachau. The Agents sought to conserve the camp’s records, interview the prisoners, and investigate SS and Nazi officials responsible. Throughout the CIC’s assessment of Dachau, the Agents arrested numerous stay-behind German agents posed as prisoners and others who infiltrated the camp post liberation. Upon arrival to the camp, approximately 30,000 prisoners were still held within the camp, while over 20,000 others had been forced marched to other camps within a few days of the U.S. Army’s arrival. For several months, the CIC Agents conducted a full assessment of Dachau along with the Seventh Army’s Office of Strategic Services and Psychological Warfare Detachments. Throughout the CIC’s investigation, a journal had been found, which was kept by one of the camp’s prisoners from November 1942 to days just before liberation. The journal kept attested to the harsh treatment and barbarism at Dachau by the camp’s guards and staff. After months of investigation, the Seventh Army’s CIC, OSS, and Psychological Detachments published a joint report on the history of Dachau concentration camp. From Nov. 15 to Dec. 1945, the Dachau Camp Trial was held for the Dachau war criminals by the U.S. Army based on the findings of the report and arrested SS/Nazi officials involved. The trial concluded with 40 convictions and 36 death sentences, to which 28 were carried out. The initial “parent trial” Dachau Camp Trial was followed by 123 subsequent cases. From 1945 to 1948, a total of 489 parent/subsequent trials were held with 394 conducted within the camp itself. Captain Henry S. Jones Jr. served in post-war Germany with the 970th Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC) Detachment stationed in Berlin serving as a detachment commander. While Jones’s service in the CIC was brief and not much known about his CIC actions, his wartime service and memory were famously preserved in the HBO series ‘Band of Brothers’ and was played by Executive Producer Tom Hanks’s son Colin Hanks due to his likeness to Jones. Jones was born in Buffalo, New York, on Apr. 27, 1924, and was his parent’s only child; his father who famously flew with the Lafayette Escadrille in World War I. Being an adventurous young man, he initially attempted to join the French Foreign Legion but instead applied and attended the West Point Military Academy; graduating on Jun. 6, 1944 as a U.S. Army Infantry Officer. He then joined the 13th Airborne Division in North Carolina, but was sent to Europe, with many other division officers, in February 1944 and was assigned E Company 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment 101st Airborne Division; famously portrayed in ‘Band of Brothers.’ Jones remained with the division until the end of war, but during demobilization, he was transferred to another division being a career U.S. Army Officer. In 1946, he joined the 970th CIC Detachment Region VIII to which would be his last duty assignment as a soldier as he unfortunately never returned home to the United States. In July 1947, Jones was involved in an automobile accident and passed away due to complications as a result on July 21st. Henry S. I just picked up the new G.I. Joe Classified Series Retro Scarlett figure from my local comic shop. She might be the best female character in the line so far. Her joints are all nice and tight, her legs are sturdy and she comes with more gear than she can carry. Even though my friend @johnnie.reed.545 hand-picked one with good paint for me, I still ended up swapping out the head for one I liked better. Retro Scarlett's face isn't a catastrophe like the Classified Series Covergirl was last year, but I did not care for it. She looked a little too juvenile IMO. She looked like she had something in her mouth that she needed to spit out. From certain angles it reminded me of the horrible, squished faces the 4 Horsemen sculpted for all the female characters in the old DC Universe Classics line. 🤮 I went through all my fodder heads and landed on a head from an extra Marvel Legends white costume Black Widow figure. I soaked both heads in scalding water to soften up the glue and plastic. Then I peeled the hair off of each head by hand. When the hair was removed, I used a rotary tool to grind away some of the excess plastic on the inside of the Scarlett hair and I used a box knife to shave off the back of the Black Widow head until the hair fit around the head and ears the way I wanted. Then I just superglued the hair in place. The socket in the Black Widow head is too big for the neck peg on Scarlett, so you'll have to use hot glue or poster tack to make it more secure. I'm much happier with the way my Scarlett looks now. As the 70th Infantry Division advanced towards Saarbrücken, Germany in late March 1945, information was received that German ‘werewolves’ were planning a last-stand in the mountain bastions of southern Bavaria. Werewolves had begun to conduct minor acts of sabotage and attacks to include stretching piano wire across main avenues of approaches in an attempt to catch a driver in the throat and decapitate them. The 70th Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC) Detachment established a secret informant system. Through their informants, they were able to arrest a German Officer who was hiding nearby. During the Officer’s interrogation, he confessed to the location of a German ‘Werewolf’ weapons cache in a coal mine near Saarbrücken. Led by Capt. Prusinski, Agents of the 70th CIC were dispatched to investigate. After finding the coal mine and descending ten stories down, the CIC Agents located the Werewolf den; however, no Werewolves were there. Despite no enemy agents located at the den, the Agents confirmed it was actively in use due to a candle still lit and note in German predicting “they’ll (the Americans) make noodles of us.” In addition, the CIC Agents located a cache of weapons, ammunition, explosives, and sabotage equipment. Throughout their search, they also found an assortment of wine and various items of food; to which the CIC Agents and 70th ID HQ personnel reallocated the wine upon their departure as seen in the photo above. Following this incident, the 70th CIC’s informant network confirmed that the local werewolves were extremely frustrated by the discovery of the den and cache. The detachment’s agents were awarded the Bronze Star Medal for the operation, which noted in their citations “…undoubtedly insured a higher degree of security for the important supply lines radiating from Saarbrücken.” The 70th CIC Detachment was composed of the following personnel: Keirn C. Brown, Harvey E. Gutman, Henry L. Hoebel, Jacob Kalish, George H. McDonald and James M. I just picked up the new G.I. Joe Classified Series Retro Scarlett figure from my local comic shop. Even though my friend @johnnie.reed.545 hand-picked one with good paint for me, I still ended up swapping out the head for one I liked better. Retro Scarlett's face isn't a catastrophe like the Classified Series Covergirl was last year, but I did not care for it. She looked a little too juvenile IMO. She looked like she had something in her mouth that she needed to spit out. From certain angles it reminded me of the horrible, squished faces the 4 Horsemen sculpted for all the female characters in the old DC Universe Classics line. 🤮 The right ear also looked like Mike Tyson bit a part off of the top. I went through all my fodder heads and landed on a head from an extra Marvel Legends Target Exclusive white costume Black Widow figure based on a story called Deadly Origin. I soaked both heads in scalding water to soften up the glue and plastic. Then I carefully peeled the hair off of each head by hand. When the hair was removed, I used a rotary tool to grind away some of the excess plastic on the inside of the Scarlett hair and I used a box knife to shave off the back of the Black Widow head until the hair fit around the head and ears the way I wanted. Then I just superglued the hair in place. The socket in the Black Widow head is too big for the neck peg on Scarlett, so you'll have to use hot glue or poster tack to make it more secure. Pro Tip: squeeze a couple of drops of superglue onto a hard surface you don't care about. Then dip the end of a toothpick into the superglue and use the toothpick to apply small amounts of glue precisely where you want them. It's more precise than any other applicator I've used and you won't use too much glue and accidentally ruin your figure. 👍🏻 I'm much happier with the way my Scarlett looks now. Throughout World War II, the U.S. Army remained a segregated military force. Soldiers, depending on their ethnicity, were assigned to specific units with others from the same ethnic background. It wouldn't be until July 28, 1948, that President Harry S. Truman signed Executive Order 9981, which led to the desegregation of the U.S. Armed Forces. However, unlike the remainder of the U.S. Army in World War II, the Counter Intelligence Corps spearheaded the desegregation based on one's ethnicity due to the realization of the importance of recruiting Agents, linguists, and specialized personnel of mixed ethnicities in support of global operations. Richard Jarczyk, an ethnic German Volksdeutsch Pole Obergefreiter of the Wehrmacht’s 36th Infantry Division, was a German spy who was executed by the U.S. Army’s Seventh Army on April 23, 1945, at the Florian-Geyer athletic ground in Kitzingen. As the Seventh Army advanced through Bavaria, Jarczyk had been left in plain civilian clothes as a ‘stay behind’ agent in support of the Third Reich’s Unternehmen Werwolf (English: Operation Werewolf) that was initiated in the summer/fall of 1944. He was ordered to conduct sabotage operations against U.S. equipment and supplies, conduct disinformation operations, collect information of intelligence value on the U.S. Army, and kill U.S. Army soldiers. In March 1945, in the town of Bruckweiler, Germany, Jarczyk offered his services to the U.S. Army and was hired by the American Military Government (AMG) managing the area. During his brief employment, the Seventh Army’s Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC) Detachment initiated an investigation into Jarczyk due to reports received from AMG personnel due to constant and persistent requests and efforts to obtain travel permits out of the area. The reason being, so that Jarczyk could pass along information to other German Werewolves. CIC Special Agents conducted a very thorough investigation determining Jarczyk was a German spy. Jarczyk was subsequently arrested on April 6 and confessed to his true espionage mission, sabotaging equipment, and killing US Army soldiers. The Seventh Army Military Commission tried and convicted Jarczyk and sentenced him to death. In March 1945, as the U.S. and Allied Forces advanced further into the Third Reich’s homeland, the U.S. Army’s Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC) received information regarding German sabotage plans to destroy U.S. combat engineer pontoon bridges crossing the Rhine River at Remagen, Germany. The pontoon bridges were vital to the U.S. Army’s advance and crossing at the Rhine. The German frogmen saboteurs’, or Flusskaempfer (English: River Fighters), plan was swim down the Rhine River, plant explosives, and then swim away prior to detonation thus slowing the U.S. Army’s advance across the Rhine and further into Germany. Upon receiving information regarding the German swimming saboteurs, the U.S. CIC detachments in the area worked with the U.S. Army combat engineers to devise underwater nets made up of wire entanglements. In addition, U.S. soldiers on guard duty around the bridge were ordered to fire their weapons at any floating object observed. These countermeasures developed by the CIC Special Agents and combat engineers prevented the German saboteurs from accomplishing their mission. Following this incident, the German swimming saboteurs attempted the same operation at a bridge location near Oppenheim southwest of Frankfurt. However, most of the German saboteurs were captured by U.S. soldiers and turned over to CIC Special Agents for interrogation. On April 26, 1944, the first U.S. Army Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC) Special Agents graduated Airborne School. S/Sgt. Max L. Stemple (Badge C-1286) and Cpl. Howard Symmes became the first Airborne CIC Special Agents, and Cpl. Frank E. Benson, Cpl. Frank L. Robinson, and Cpl. (later Cpt.) Thomas E. Ryan followed Stemple and Symmes shortly afterward. These CIC Special Agents and several others would serve as the CIC Detachments attached to the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions during the Allied Forces Operation Overlord, the liberation of France and Western Europe. A total of 34 CIC Special Agents would form the two Airborne CIC Detachments of 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions in preparation for Operation Overlord. It was determined that seven enlisted Special Agents and the CIC Detachment Commander for each division would jump into France with the paratroopers on D-Day, and the remaining nine enlisted Special Agents would come ashore in landing craft later that morning with the amphibious elements of the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions. On the early morning of June 6, 1944, German anti-aircraft heavily engaged the Allied Forces aircraft, causing many planes to explode and crash; along with their precious paratrooper cargo. The U.S. Army airborne forces were scattered across the French countryside. The 101st CIC detachment suffered the highest percentage of casualties of any CIC detachment in World War II that day with three killed in action and two wounded in action. Among the casualties S/Sgt. Max L. Stemple and Cpl. Frank E. Benson Jr. who was killed in action in the 82nd Airborne Division’s sector near Sainte-Mère-Église, France. Stemple was returned to his home in West Virginia and was laid to rest at the Grafton National Cemetery in Grafton, Taylor, West Virginia, on April 25, 1948.
