First day home with my boys for March Break. We walked down to the beach to check out the Winter Stations. It was terribly cold and windy down there today. The waves were so strong. The whole walk down there Johnny kept talking about his favourite Winter Station, "The Beach’s Percussion Ensemble”. He loves to bang on the steal parts and play with the cowbells. He also hides inside the wooden blocks and climbs to the very top of the structure, just to jump off of it, into the sand below. He noticed the drawings on the boxes and I told him that people were welcomed to draw on them. He asked if we could come back and draw on it and I said that we could. This is the first run I’ve done in a little over a week because I caught a cold. Argh. Oh well, I’m back at a it now. It’s starting to feel like spring. I saw three HUGE Robins sitting in a tree near the beach. A wonderful sign that spring is just around the corner. After my run, I stopped to check out the last Winter Station on the Beach. This one is called "Kaleidoscope of the Senses”. It is a really, REALLY tall and fabulous structure. When I was there, two people were sitting inside it, on the life guard station, enjoying the view of the lake while having a bite to eat. Winter Stations down on Woodbine Beach continue this month 😃, but unfortunately one of the installations has come to an early end this year. 👀 The installation titled ‘Noodle Feed’ was a popular hit with everyone who visited the beach, and unfortunately that popularity caused the parachute fabric to tear beyond repair. As such, @winter.stations has advised us that this installation has been removed for the duration of the Winter Stations exhibition. 👅 This was one of our favourite installations too, so we hope you enjoyed its presence on the beach for the few weeks it was there. Another great morning on the Beach visiting the Winter Stations. There was a ton of new dogs to sniff, I got to see my friends Hudson, Bowzer and Fozzie and meet all kinds of very important people like Beach Buddy the mascot for the Beach Village BIA (Mother seemed to think these guys Mr. Bradford and Mr. Tory were the real VIPs but I wouldn’t cooperate in our group photo - what can I say I’m an independent thinker!) Then we went to the off leash at Kew and walked up to the shopping strip on Queen. I was so tired I had to pass out on the 501 streetcar on a ladies feet on the way home. Luckily she did not mind. Winter stations es una competencia internacional de instalaciones de arte en donde pude participar como artista invitado. Esta instalación fue un trabajo colaborativo con varias personas del college. “The Beaches Percussion Ensemble” busca estimular 3 de los 5 sentidos a la misma ves que se adapta al clima de la playa durante el invierno. . . Today I can proudly share this project that has been cooking for some time now. Winter stations is an international art competition where I was invited to participate as an artist. It’s that time of year again. The Winter Stations are back on Woodbine Beach. Every year, artists, architects and designers are asked to create bold designs at the site of the lifeguard stations that are placed along the beachfront. The theme for this year’s Winter Stations’ is Beyond the Five Senses. There are four Winter Stations this year. This is the first one. it’s called Mirage. I already know that it is my favourite of all the Winter Stations. My run today was awesome because it was pretty warm out, compared to yesterday. The last two days were hitting close to -30 with the windchill. Today it was -3 with the windchill. I plan on running again tomorrow.
