Last week was one for the books. A highlight was the adventure out to the @johnsleemanandsons Distillery with some of Toronto's talented hospitality folks. We hosted a spirited dinner to celebrate the new distillery with some well-crafted 100% Canadian Oak Rye Whisky. The Sleeman family is making a number of whiskies and spirits, as well as my personal favourite, their Traditional Straight Whisky which has a flavour that falls in the realm of a bourbon. I met Sachin, the wonderful and kind owner of this local spot, whose father came out with the fried chicken recipe. What really stood out here is that chicken is always made fresh. Our chicken came out piping hot, juicy, and incredibly crispy. They allow their chicken to marinate for 24 hours. The flavours truly penetrated the meat well. DEFINITELY go for the Nashville chicken sandwich. It's sweet and has a spicy kick. I love how crispy their chicken is! Their potato wedges are a must order. It's made with the same batter and is fried to perfection. Don't forget the mini donuts! It's so unique for a fried chicken spot and they're so tasty.
