Part of my process of preparing for a new installation is creating new tendrils to work with and also mending ones that I have used previously. At today’s guild, Roger Sheldon came to show this fantastic tapestry he’s made from all 71 sheep breeds listed by the British Wool Marketing Board. Around 50 of these breeds were provided by guild members, who spun up samples for him to use. If you look closely, you will see that each sample of wool has its own design. Beautiful 👌🏼 The fleeces come from guild members, and now also my dear friends, Sarah and Chris who sell native British fleeces on Etsy (Whychwoodspinner). This was my last guild, as I’m soon moving back to Sweden. I'm busy making a new needle felting mat (you can see my old one in the 2nd pic). I've had my old wool duvet I made in my shed for a while waiting to be reused. Earlier today, I had a light bulb moment that I could use the wool from that. I'd made the duvet from hand carded bats of wool. Over the years of use, it had become further compressed, so the wool in the bats (sheets) is holding together well. I've needle felted it into shape, but I will probably wet felt it slightly just to firm it up 🐑🐏🐑🐏 It's made using a mix of Welsh Mountain, black Welsh Mountain and Badgerface wool #britishwool
