I decided to ply this chunky spin onto itself, using a (mahoussive🙈) plying bracelet. It didn’t help that I was in a rush and managed to ping my drive band off 😵💫…it was not fun putting it back on, with that enormous squishy glove of yarn on my hand😂…but I got there in the end. These objects of the natural and man-made world are imperfect, flawed and deviating. As we were making our way out of Ait Bouguemes and heading to the city, we made a stop to admire Tizi n’Tighrst’s rock carvings etched with a metal tool 4000 years ago. The drawings, almost resembling some of Kandinski’s abstract paintings, show a fascinating glimpse into ancient life in the region. One could picture how people lived, hunted, battled, and worshipped nature. Among the carvings, we fell in love with the four circular drawings believed to reference the four seasons. Although relatively unknown to most, these carvings are a point of interest for both passersby and the villagers of Ait Bou Oulli During our visit, our local guide Omar, enhanced by the visitor center, provided an insightful overview of this ancient public art piece. Another project for my textile and fibre art group. This one was a “Photo to Fibre” challenge. All members were given the same image of a snow gum, a eucalyptus tree native to eastern Australia. We were asked to interpret this image in our chosen textile. Mine is machine stitched fabric scraps on a cotton sheeting backing. This has been one of my favourite projects as it allowed me to use my fabric scraps and sewing machine to create the image. First picture is the original image. Last night was the spring dream of workshops! The sun was shining the trees and fields of our stunning Cuerden Valley Park lay before us in all their emerald glory and then we did this!! These ladies, some of which were absolute beginners and had never picked up a felting needle before, created these wonderful pieces of art. Our bees developed over the evening into these stunning wall hangings. I'm so incredibly proud of each and every one of these lovely ladies. Do something different, something relaxing that helps you clear your mind, take a walk, sit in the garden, read a book.🌸 When you're ready, have a look through all the notes and examples or illustrations provided. Let the instructions sink in, and give it another go. Time and patience can sometimes be the most important tools a crocheter can use. When I woke up the next morning my Roomba had started his presided vacuum cleaning, which I had forgot to turn off! My family and I joke that Arturito /Little Arthur the Robot Vacuum just likes to get involved in my crafts 🤣🤪. He has sucked/spun yarn from projects before too. I very much appreciate the opportunity to participate in the exhibition "Korean Embroidery in Modern Times: The Birds Trying to Catch the Sun" held at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Arts in Seoul, Korea. The exhibition was as beautiful as a volume of poetry! Historically significant themes and works of embroidery were displayed across four spaces, each curated by theme. Thorough research and abundant documentation felt as intricate as embroidery, while the collection of works spanning generations shimmered like a single thread weaving precious jewels. Representing the spirits of women who crafted "in the secret place" (Psalm 139:15) without name, face, or voice, the meaningful exhibition was truly moving. This is my #amigurumayday7 post! These are the two crochet hooks I’ve used the most (the blue is 5.0mm and the green is 4.0mm). My favourite colors are blue and red so I like the one of the sizes I often need to use just happens to be blue. The 5.0mm is often what I need for blankets and some of the bigger amigurumi and the 4.0mm is for smaller amigurumi.

This is my #amigurumayday6 post! I decided to make my favourite crochet stitch the double crochet clusters. I know I’ve posted this blanket before but making this was when I learned the stitch and it was really fun. I’ve learned that it’s used in granny squares sometimes too and I just think it’s really cool the way it be used and how it can look so good in different contexts. It can be used to make a flower but it can also be used in a granny square and it looks really nice both ways.
