Since I've got journalists apparently following me yea I was a former news reporter while in college, I was only 21 and I worked for the now-defunct MYTV53 News at 8pm. It was on KMSG the MYTV affiliate in Fresno, California, after the news department shut down abruptly I took a break from the news to finish university which i'm in the process of doing. I’ll decide if I want to return to TV news journalism but I've got tired of it, and I heard some things about the business that haunt me. But the best part about this job as I got to report from home, my goal originally was to be a bilingual reporter doing news in English and Spanish hince why my bio is learning Spanish. Currently in community college after I transfer to 4-year college I will decide whether I want to come into the business or not, i'm still young and I kinda wanna live my young adult years and focus on being a college athlete but will see how that goes. Prayers for the mental health of the beautiful Francesca Amewudah-Rivers 🖤🙏🏾 Why is it that any time a black creative (especially a female black creative) works hard and earns something the world tries to tear them down? Why is it that black features and skin are always the butt of someone’s joke? Why aren’t black actresses allowed to be princesses and love interests? I’m working late… because I’m a *journalist* If I can be real a second… Believe it or not this one was really hard for me to write. It was my first time conducting a real full fledged interview, getting the pieces that I need, and doing an in-depth write up. I consider my writing to be my own art and my own craft so it was important for me to be able to say things the way I wanted to and give YuKwon the flowers I feel he deserves. I spent a lot of nights getting up and thinking about how I can say things better and how I can tell the story clearer. I also got more critiques from the editor than I’m used to and I wanted to get defensive but I just bit the bullet and wrote and rewrote again and again. I’m glad that I did. I think I was able to flex my creative muscle and really work on STORYTELLING instead of just reciting facts and pulling quotes. On to the next! I want to do more interviewing and work on refining this skill some more ✍🏾✍🏾 #blackjournalist

The @blackenterprise Disruptor Summit was truly game-changing! I met some awe-inspiring people who are doing major things and really poured into me ♥️ A 60 second pitch landed me an interview for @blackenterprise with extraordinary @ashlei_stevens 🙌🏾🎉 I don’t even know what gave me the courage to jump up and raise my hand. I can only attribute it to God. All I knew is that @baldiecon is special movement and a meaningful cause, and the people in the room needed to hear about it. After pitching, out of breathe, I sat down. I then get a tap on the shoulder and it’s Ashlei Stevens. She said, “We loved your pitch and we at Black Enterprise want to know more.” Y’all!! I was screaming and crying inside trying to keep my composure. I am truly grateful for that opportunity and thank you Ashlei for believing in my mission and pouring into me ♥️ I have often found myself in rooms where the whispers of inadequacy haunt my thoughts. The weight of imposter syndrome consumes me, as doubts swirl around my mind, questioning my worthiness and questioning whether I truly belong in these rooms and spaces. I don’t have a college degree, or high profile corporate job, nor am I a part of a sorority. Then I thought to myself, no, I do belong in these rooms. For it is within these rooms, where doubts once resided, that I begin to discover my true potential. I realize that I possess perspectives, insights, talent and I have a mission that is valuable and sought after. I recognize that my voice, although nervous in moments of uncertainty, has the power to inspire, to challenge, and to ignite change. I say this to whomever feels or think they are not worthy to be in certain rooms and are experiencing imposter syndrome, you do belong! Keep stepping into these rooms with purpose and confidence. Last year, I interviewed @theofficialcarolmaraj for Essence to discuss her experience with domestic abuse and her organization, @carolmarajfoundation, which creates awareness about domestic abuse and helps victims experiencing it. I can’t stop thinking about all the women struggling to leave, terrified of their abusers, feeling hopeless, worthless and in physical as well as emotional turmoil. It is possible to leave and rebuild your life. There are so many people who love and want to help you. Abuse is not love. There is nothing you did to deserve abuse. I was in an abusive relationship and the shame, disassociation, and my personal trauma made it so difficult to leave. Please read and share with someone who needs help. GARYVILLE, La. — On Tuesday, May 7, before 7 p.m., a double shooting occurred on Sherman Walker Street in Garyville, #Louisiana. The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident, where two victims were found. One of the victims, #TodmoniqueJoseph, age 37, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim sustained injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Residents in the neighborhood told deputies what they witnessed during the incident. An investigation revealed the women were driving in the area when the shooting happened, and after being struck, the vehicle reportedly crashed into a pole. A resident said once he got to the car, he noticed there was blood everywhere. Deputies add that a child was found in the backseat at the time of the crash. The suspect, #TimothyJohnson, is currently wanted on charges of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder. Detectives were able to identify him as the person responsible for the crime through further investigation. The family of a 25-year-old mother found dead in a car in Hackney have paid moving tribute to her as a “loving” and “vibrant” soul. #KennediWestcarrSabaroche was found dead inside her car on Hackney’s Whiston Road early on April 6. Ms Westcarr-Sabaroche’s boyfriend, #GogoaTape, 27, has been charged with her murder. In a tribute page set up online, her family paid tribute to the Digital Marketing Apprentice as someone who “cherished” life and always found “reasons to be grateful”. Philadelphia, PA — The Olney High School community is mourning the loss of one of its own. Ondria Glaze, a dedicated teacher and special education compliance monitor, was tragically killed in a murder-suicide incident in the Grays Ferry section of Philadelphia. On Monday, May 8, 2024, authorities responded to a residence in the 1300 block of S. 30th Street. There, they discovered Ondria Glaze, 36 years old, with fatal gunshot wounds. The perpetrator, identified as #RichardHarper, 42 years old, was also found dead at the scene, having taken his own life. A firearm was recovered next to Harper’s body. Ondria Glaze had been a fixture at Olney High School for a decade. Her impact extended beyond the classroom; she was like a sister to her students and colleagues. Known for her unwavering dedication and compassion, Ondria embodied the school’s motto: “Olney Love.” Her office door became a memorial, adorned with heartfelt messages from those whose lives she touched. Principal Michael Roth expressed deep sorrow over the loss. “Ondria Glaze was more than a teacher,” he said. “She was a beacon of kindness and support for everyone who walked through our doors.” The Olney community rallied together, sharing memories and stories of Ondria’s positive influence. A vigil in #OndriaGlaze’s honor will take place on Monday, May 13, where students, staff, and community members will gather to remember her. Additionally, a GoFundMe campaign aims to establish a scholarship fund for graduating seniors who exemplify the same light and love that Ondria brought to #OlneyHighSchool. As the community grapples with this heartbreaking loss, Ondria Glaze’s memory will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew her. CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — In a heartbreaking development, #BrianaWinston, the 23-year-old mother who had been missing for weeks, has been found dead in Tennessee. Police have issued a warrant for malice murder for a Clayton County man weeks after the mother of his child vanished. Brianna Winston, 23, was reported missing by family members on April 1. They said her 4-year-old daughter had been staying with the child’s father’s family, and no one had heard from Winston in weeks. Detectives initially named two people of interest in the case: the father of Winston’s child, Michale Edwards, and his wife, Brienna Phillips-Edwards. Police arrested Edwards on April 8. His charge is listed as aggravated stalking. The case has left her family and the community in shock, and investigators are working diligently to unravel the circumstances surrounding her death. Anyone with information related to her disappearance or death is urged to contact the authorities.
