Finally, they have seen the light! The Miss Universe Philippines 2024 winner is not the usual winner churned out each year by this pageant and all other pageants in the Philippines. She does not have the usual features that most of the Philippine society dictates should be found in someone to be deemed as beautiful. She is redefining what is beauty! For so long, a lot of Filipinas have been buying all these whitening products being sold in the market because of the mindset that unless you have a "ghostly" white complexion, you are not beautiful. This colonial mentality that unless you have a mestiza feature you are not pretty should now end. I have nothing against Filipinas or any women who were born with mestiza features. I am against those who trumpet that only those who have Western looks are beautiful. All I am saying is that I don't believe there should be just one standard of beauty. Remember the saying that beauty is in the eye of the beholder? As an artist, I believe in that saying. Beauty should not be just about the color of your skin, the shape of your body, or your age. Another winner from @itsbelcosmeticspr Have you tried the Pixie Grove palette? Same as Under the Full Moon, the mattes are so easy to work with and blend so well together. The shimmers are stunning. So, I returned that blush today and exchanged it for the shade bronze glow and I am happy to report that I like it and plan to get one of the matching lippies and liquid highlighter. For the lippie I think I will go with the lip maximizer as I swatched it in store and found the shade to be very flattering and the formula pleasing on the skin. However, the true test will be how it performs on the lips. So stay tuned. A little good news to share. About 2 weeks ago on my you tube channel, I did a GRWM for a job interview. I had the second part of that interview today and was offered the position. I happily accepted and I am so excited to be starting a new chapter in my life. It is a position that I really wanted and I believe will help me to grow as a professional in my field, which is nursing. I filmed a GRWM this morning while getting ready for that interview as well and will upload that to my channel hopefully this weekend. I did a second wear test for the new foundation and concealer from @fentybeauty and I also tried their new highlighter. Good night 😴 everyone!! I’m back with an update on my wear test for the new foundation and concealer from @fentybeauty. Overall, I think she performed well considering it’s been over 13 hours but I do want to try another technique with application tomorrow to see if I can actually cut back a little on this glow. Don’t get me wrong I love my glowing finishes but this may be a little too much for me. I am working on a more in depth review that I will upload to YouTube in a few days. it also includes a mini review of the new blush and lip oil from @Diorbeauty (I’m wearing both in these pictures) as well as a cream shadow from a brand I recently discovered called @kulfi.beauty So stay tuned for that. Look #2 with this gorgeous, cool toned palette from @itsbelcosmeticsPR. Again I had such an easy time creating this look and I love the way the matte shades perform. I am also in love with this lipstick (shade 602R - Stellar note) from @valentinobeauty, which I purchased during the @sephora sale. The satin formula isn’t my favorite but the color more than makes up for it. I love this eclectic mix of grey and purple on a black base, its unlike any other shade I already own. On my cheeks is the @diorbeauty Rosy Glow blush in the shade Cherry. @enamoredbeauty inspired me to purchase during the Sephora sale. It’s such a gorgeous shade of red and blends perfectly with the Dior Forever Glow Maximizer in the shade Gold. I used the DN85 foundation shade from @pradabeauty and topped it with the Dior Forever Glow Star Filter which provided some much needed warmth. Thank you @lea_evangelista for this amazing collab. I decided to combine a winter eye w/a holiday lip. The last three months of the year were always a joyous occasion for me for most of my life. I have many fond memories of celebrating my birthday along with the holidays that occur during that time of the year. Christmas was my favorite holiday and also marks the beginning of winter (my least favorite season). I love the hues of the season with the blues and greens and silver and gold. Then there is the colour red. I love a bold red lip and this is perfect for the holiday season (or any season quite frankly). To create this eye look, I utilised the Under the Full Moon palette from @itsbelcosmeticspr When I saw this palette on their page I knew I had to have it and it provides the perfect hues for the look I was going for, and I had so much fun with this palette. On the lips is a new shade I picked up from @pradabeauty in the shade R27 Rubino. This shade is the perfect red for me and I am quite impressed with their hyper matte formula. Blush is the Bésame bush palette, also from It’s Bel Cosmetics. I have to admit I struggled a little with this weeks subject but I had to try. I was going for the vampy rocker chick vibe. Not sure if this look comes across that way, but it’s my vision so I’m going with it.😁. I always say that If I had a voice I would sing rock, rhythm and blues on stages all over the world 🌍😆. But I can’t sing so it will have to be Karaoke bars and my shower instead. 🤣🤣. Thank you @lea_evangelista for this amazing collab. I had so much fun creating this look today. It just so happens I am hanging out with some friends tonight and we are going to a karaoke spot. So I’ll get to live out my rocker babe fantasies for a few hours tonight. So, I decided to go colourful on the eyes and cheeks and kept the lips dark. I love black lipstick 💄. The star of the show is @danessamyricksbeauty. On my eyes I mixed colourfix shades Primary Blue with Fireworks and topped it with the infinite chrome flakes in the shade Pride. On the bottom lid is the gel liner from @meltcosmetics in the shade Colibrí. Waterline is one of the Kaleidos multichrome liners. Complexion is by @diorbeauty and I skipped the foundation in favour of concealer and their new Forever Glow Star Filter in shade #5. I colour corrected with @hudabeauty Faux Filter Corrector in the shade Papaya. I did not use any bronzer or blush today, forgoing all of it for highlighter instead. I first used a liquid highlighter from UOMA Beauty in the shade New Gold then topped it off with Ketracel White from @adeptcosmetics in the shade Dominion. I wish I’d gotten this in the old packaging, it’s so pretty. On my lips is the LE MONSTER pencil in the shade Maple Matte with the new lip glaze in the shade Guava. Again these two formulas and shades match perfectly. I also purchased the new @makeupbymario master mattes neutral palette. It’s subtle but perfect for an interview or in the office. It also lasts on my eyelids for hours. Here is my makeup for today. I wanted to add eyeshadow but I ran out of time. 🤷🏾‍♀️. But it’s ok because the star of the show today is the lippies and the blush. On my lips 👄 I used the @hauslabs LE MONSTER LIP CRAYON 🖍️ in the shade Mahogany Matte, as a lip liner and the new plumping lip glaze in the shade Fig. Have you tried those lip crayons? They are superb. I have several shades. They glide on the lips and dry down to a very comfortable matte finish. I usually wear it alone but today I really wanted to try one of the glazes I bought during the @sephora sale. They really pair well together. Now for the blush. I like it but I cannot recommend this shade to anyone who is around my complexion or darker unless you like the real subtle look. But if that’s your jam, make sure you use a good quality brush that picks up well. Today I used my Wayne Goss natural bristle brush and I was pleased with the results. But if you are someone with a deeper complexion, who needs a little more, skip this shade. I also purchased French Rosette and Hibiscus Haze and will post reviews on those two shades in the near future. Once again I want to thank @lea_evangelista for hosting this amazing collaboration entitled Magical and Mystical. Unfortunately, due to time constraints and just plain lack of energy, I did not go as far out as I wanted to but I am pretty happy with how this look turned out. It’s a simple every day look featuring a pallet from Unearthly Cosmetics called Warms My Blood. This look is an ode to one of my favorite artists of all time, portraying a character in a book from one of my favorite authors of all time. Aaliyah was such an amazing performer, and a talented dancer with a voice of an Angel. I was so excited to see her on the big screen portraying Akasha from the novel Queen of the Damned, written by the amazing Anne Rice. Ms. Rice’s novels are so descriptive and engaging as she has this uncanny ability to draw her readers in to her world of vampires. It was as if I was actually there in that world and I remember not being able to tear myself away from her books when I read them. Sadly, both ladies have gone on from this world, but they both left such an impression on me and thus, will forever be one of my favorites in their respective artistic categories. Is anyone watching the latest rendition of Interview with the Vampire on AMC? I am. The book of course will always be superior to all the movies and shows it inspired but I can appreciate this new take on one of my favorite novels of all time. Now the prompt is about magical and mystical beings. Vampires and fairies are my favorite. But if I had to choose, it would be a blood drinking immortal with unlimited powers. They are so fascinating to me because they have lived or will live for centuries. If this sort of being did actually exist (I swear they do LOL) I would absolutely want to interview them too. A vampire such as Akasha who is an original has literally lived through it all (except for when she was a statue), probably has a very interesting perspective on both current as well as past world events, and I would want to hear it.

I just returned from an amazing lunch with some amazing folks at an amazing restaurant near downtown Los Angeles called @laguelaguetza They have the best mole sauce that I’ve tasted thus far. The region of Mexico their cuisine comes from is Oaxaca, so it’s not the usual Mexican cuisine that you might be used to. The food is perfection and the service is upstanding. If you are in L. A. make your way over there. They have live music 🎵 on Sundays and it gets packed. So I recommend making a reservation. My inspiration for this weeks submission to the Raves, Concerts and Festivals collab, hosted by the beautiful and talented @lea_evangelista is the song Purple Haze from Jimi Hendrix. Mr. Hendrix, may his soul continue to rest in peace, was an American musician, song writer and guitarist. Born during a very tumultuous time for African-Americans in this country, he managed to rise above it to become one of the most prolific and influential rock musicians of all time. When I listen to Purple haze and many of his other songs, I go into a trance and the sound of his guitar just takes over my very being. Unfortunately he died five years before I was born, but I imagine that if I had been alive and old enough to attend one of his concerts, this is a look I would have done for the event. I had so much fun creating this look today as it is very different from what I usually do with makeup. So, as promised, I decided to do a comparison between @juviasplace radiance boosterand the @elfcosmetics halo glow liquid filter. I feel like the tone for the Juvia’s place is a little off, so, I think I like the elf version better. They both give a nice glow to the skin but I think the elf version offers a little more glow which I prefer. They both feel great on the skin and they both apply really well. Now for the price, elf is cheaper than Juvia so if I were going to purchase something like this again, it will probably be elf just because of the price point and also I prefer the undertone of the elf product better to Juvia place. Finished look. I am really liking this blush ☺️ light 💡 from Juvias Place. It did almost get away 🏃‍♂️ from me but I was able to save the look. A light hand is imperative. Ye be warned!! 🤣🤣 This ultra pigmented blush leaves a gentle glow on the cheeks that I think will be my go to blush look this summer. Between JP and @lysbeautyofficial I’m covered. The shade I used is Perky Poppy Glow I thought I purchased the Barbie Rose Glow but when I got home I realized I’d bought that shade but in the liquid blush version, which I already own. So I will return to Ulta tomorrow to make the exchange. Now for the Lippie. This is the @pradabeauty soft matte lipstick in the shade B105 Tonka. I’ve worn this a few times and I can say this is one of my favorite lipstick formulas, the color is gorgeous and It’s very comfortable on the lips 👄. My $50 was very well spent. So, I couldn’t resist trying that radiance booster from Juvias Place. I wasn’t sure about the shade as I had a very difficult time deciding which shade to purchase in @ultabeauty I swatched shades 1-4. Shade #1 was too dark and #4 too light. I settled on shade 2 as shade 3 undertone was a little too red for my liking. Shade two gives my skin this nice warm glow. I used my @lysbeautyofficial concealer to diminish my problem areas and then applied the filter on the high points of my face. I am planning to put on foundation and blush to finish the look but I wanted to post a first impression photo of the filter on its own before I add the finishing touches. Just had me a little haul over @ulta. Of course nothing I ever want is included in that sale. But I did get $10 off and I had a gift card. So I’m happy 😊. When I saw the Villanous Vibe collab from @lea_evangelista I knew I had to participate. I’m traveling to the east coast so I don’t have the time to put a new look together but luckily I have several photos from a look I did and posted last year. So, here is my submission. 😁 Cruella is not only one of my favourite Disney villains but probably one of my favorite characters. This of course is going off of the origin story which gives another perspective on why she is the way she is. Kind of similar to the Broadway play Wicked (one of my favorite plays), another fantastic origin story that gives an alternative perspective on the so called villain from The Wizard of Oz. I love Cruella’s bold sense of fashion, and the fact that she refuses to cover up that peculiar hair color that she was born with. She is who she is and she makes no apologies for it. Just another work friendly look I put together this morning. I didn’t sleep well so I just got up early and painted my face. The whole process of applying makeup is therapeutic for me. Does it feel like that for you too? Well, I finally tried one of those backstage palettes from @diorbeauty That dark and grungy one called Smoky Essentials. It’s my first palette from the backstage line and I like it. It was easy to work with and stayed fresh during my long 12 hour shift. Now for that lipstick. I am in love with that shade from @pradabeauty, it’s called Tonka and it’s so flattering. In the photos I have on a brown lip liner but when I reapplied later in the day I didn’t use a lip liner and it actually looked better. That shade is from their soft matte line and like the hyper matte I tried the other day, I like it. It’s very comfortable on my lips. 👄 Another review is coming for the other products in the photo as I’ve been using them all month and I have thoughts. I’m planning on switching out my stash for other items I want to use. So stay tuned for that. Hey 👋 I’m back again with one more post. Heading to bed soon but wanted to test out one of three lipsticks I purchased from @pradabeauty over the last few weeks. This is the hyper matte formula in the shade ultraviolet. I’ve had this on for about two hours so far and I find it to be pretty comfortable on the lips once dried down. This is despite the fact that I’m battling dry lips due to an eczema outbreak. So I’m pretty impressed.😁. I also want to mention that I’ve had this eyeshadow on from @kaima_cosmetics for almost eight hours now and she is still going strong. That definitely ups the impressive factor for me. FIRST IMPRESSiON!! I received this beauty form @kaima_cosmetics last night and I had to dig in today. I used four of the mattes and they performed really well. They were easy to blend and the tones are perfect for my complexion. Now for the shimmers. I used three shades, Dazzle, Charm and Trance. I found them to be a little too chunky and glittery for my taste. The more I blended them the more glittery they became and kind of just got all over the place. The colors are gorgeous and I can see shifts of green and gold. I am just not sure if I like the formula as I found it difficult to work with. I prefer a more smoother shimmer with less glitter particles. Anyways, I am happy with the final look. I do not think the pictures do it justice as these shades are stunning both in the pan and on the eye. I plan on doing more looks over the next few weeks before I decide for sure if this palette is for me and whether or not I can recommend it. AS for the rest of my face. I am really enjoying this new blush from @lysbeautyofficial in the shade unfazed. It is so creamy and pigmented and I love the subtle glow it leaves. I might have gone a little ham with it today but I don’t care. I will definitely be picking up more shades sometime in the near future. Foundation and bronzer are also by LYS. On the lips are a new fave from @yslbeauty the candy glaze lip gloss in the shade Burgundy Temptation. That is such a great lip gloss formula, so pigmented and moisturizing on the lips. I learned of Thando Hopa, a very inspiring South African model, activist and lawyer with albinism, and I wanted to do a post on her. ❤️ I enjoyed reading more about her on the Briefly website: Thando Hopa was born in South Africa. “She rose to become a lawyer, activist, and model. Her choice of studying law was prompted by the fact that she wanted to give a voice to something that was not talked about much in Africa.” She was featured on the cover of Vogue Portugal. The issue was about the diversity of African beauty, and it was the first Vogue cover to feature a woman with albinism. Thando became famous after she was discovered by a famous designer named Gert-Johan Coetzee at a Johannesburg Shopping Mall in 2012. Due to the support and attention she keeps getting, she has since grown to be an activist for individuals with albinism. She continues to challenge the stereotypes in the fashion and beauty industry. She remains to be one of the few black models with albinism in the world. She has been featured in the Pirelli calendar among other famous black achievers such as Whoopi Goldberg and Lupita Nyong’o. It was a huge accomplishment for her to be featured as the first South African and to look the way she wanted. It was on her terms. I wanted to share a beautiful message from her that I read on the Centre for Human Rights University of Pretoria website: “My message for young people living with albinism, especially young girls, is that you are enough, you have everything in you to navigate this world. Everything outside of you is for your growth. Continue to know that you are enough, you are beautiful and capable. Sorry 😞 but I didn’t feel like taking pictures of the actual products but I did tag what I could. I decided to give the eyeshadows from @beautybaycom another chance and purchased two palettes. The one featured today, Reckless Romance, is one of their best color stories to date. I enjoyed using this palette and I really like how this look turned out. On my face is the foundation of the month by @lysbeautyofficial, set with the peach pie loose baking powder from @hudabeauty. I’ve been using that powder for a few weeks now and I want to thank @daps_makeup for her review. If it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t have tried it. I love it and will definitely purchase the larger size as I bought the mini. I also used the Halo 😇 Glow Liquid Filter by @elfcosmetics. There has been a lot of comparisons between this liquid filter and the one from @charlottetillbury. I did comment on a post a while back that I preferred the Elf version, but that was after only swatching the CT one in store. Now that I’ve actually used both on my face, I’m not sure 🤔about that opinion anymore. So, I’m planning to do a comparison between the two in the near future. Have you tried both? If so, what are your thoughts and which one do you prefer? I finally tried the Berry Pop Collection from @natashadenonabeauty and I’m quite pleased. I love her blushes and lipsticks and this will definitely be a staple. The blush isn’t overpowering and provides just the right amount of pigment for my complexion and is buildable. The lipstick shade is a little on the light side but not a deal breaker. It’s been a while but I finally felt like putting on some makeup. I love colorful makeup but looks like this never get old. Sometimes less is more and simple is the way to go. My complexion products are mostly from @lysbeautyofficial except for the finishing powder which is from @meltcosmetics I also played around with the vision flush and color fix formulas from @danessamyricksbeauty and the tones are just perfect for my complexion. So its getting close to the five hour mark since I applied the Halo Glow (shade #6) by Elf Cosmetics and I still look good but not in a special or an extraordinary way. This product seems to work similar to my Glowlust by Auric but for a fraction of the cost. I believe Charlotte Tillbury makes a similar item? I’m curious 🧐 to try it and give a comparison. Bottom line, I need a few more uses before I can say whether this was worth my hard earned dollars. But my first impression is positive😊. Also, the itching stopped and there’s no rash. So that’s a bonus 😆. Hopefully there is no acne after a few more uses cause this does have squalene oil in it (Auric also contains squalene and doesn’t give me acne). So expect to see this featured in several upcoming posts 😊. The primer seems to work fine. Its better than that Milk primer which flakes on my skin. But of course I need to test it out with other foundations to determine if it’s something I’ll continue to purchase. Now for the blush, I’m loving it 😻. After five hours its still just as vibrant as when I first applied it. I think 🤔 I want to try more colours. Went to @ultabeauty and had a mini haul today😁. I will be trying out some products from @elfcosmetics for the first time. I haven’t had the best experiences with drug store brands in the past. Too many allergic reactions but so many folks rave about this brand so I’m going to try three items. It’s another mashup with the mini xenon and triochrome palettes. Two looks in one day is a first for me. But mommy and I didn’t feel like dealing with the snow and we’ve been in the house for two days. Plus, I just couldn’t go to sleep without knowing how an all matte look with these two palettes would turn out, so please excuse my pink robe 😆. This look is definitely out of my comfort zone. One it’s all matte and two it’s blues and greys. Not my usual preferred colour story. But you know what? I like how this turned out and would absolutely recreate this look for a night out. As for the mini triochrome, I like her. The duochrome isn’t impressive. Honestly, it’s a dud and the silver shimmer isn’t much better. But those mattes are amazing and are the star of this palette in my humble opinion. My instincts were right, these two mini palettes pair together perfectly. 😀. But is todays look any different from the look I did yesterday? Not sure 🤔. What do you think? Now I did use some of the same shades I used yesterday so that’s probably why it seems similar to me. Next time I’ll try and go for something different. But also keeping in mind that these are mini palettes. Thus, the amount of looks possible are limited. Something old something blue today. I shopped my stash and pulled out some oldies but goodies. Only two items are new and that is the easy bake and snatch pressed brightening and setting powder by @hudabeauty, in the shade Kunafa. The other new item is the mini triochrome eyeshadow palette from @natashadenonabeauty. I’m still forming my opinion on that Huda powder which I’ve been using for almost a month. I think I’m still partial towards the Pat McGrath under eye powder. I love that product. But this one works well too. As for the eyeshadow, I’m not impressed. But this is a first impression and I plan on doing more looks before I make a final decision. I’m currently on vacation and went back home to New York to hang out with moms. Its currently snowing so we are stuck inside.
