I have found it quite inspiring - here’s a little olfactory fiction, a full review will follow on my YouTube channel shortly. Love For Sale is a woman with 2 sides. Her tough leather biker jacket shields her softer more feminine side. She sits in contemplation at her dressing table and applies her tangy aldehydic perfume, it’s a classic of course and maybe not so approachable at first. She takes a sip from her crystal flute of Champagne, inside floats a raspberry and a strawberry because whilst she’s fierce she’s not averse to some decadence here and there. From her buttery soft grey suede handbag, she removes her lipstick and powder, reapplies and smiles at herself knowingly in the mirror. She is both darkness and light, for now, briefly she must channel her darkness as she has a mission, one man must die, another will be enchanted. Mission completed, her perfume has softened on her skin, no longer sharp and tangy, the leather jacket has been discarded but her soft suede bag remains. Her darkness has almost been covered by light, she is gentle, calm, approachable, sweet as candy. Margarethe Held, 1894-1981 “The vast majority of the drawings were portraits of the helpers of God accompanied by short descriptions: gnomes, fauns, fairies, water gods, water spirits, elves, nature gods, hermaphrodites, and demons. She also drew many portraits of deceased people. What she produced is a veritable portrait gallery of discarnate entities.” 3. Nina Karasek, Floral Consecration in the Stars, 1937. Under the direction of the spirit guide “Joële”, she produced artistic works. 4. Séraphine Louis, 1929/30 5. Hélène Smith, Martian Landscape 1896-1899 6. Ithell Colquhoun, Scylla, 1938. 7. Thank God, it's completed and I'm sorry I've not added any posts to my page in over a week for two reasons: this puzzle was so large and detailed, I only just managed to fit it all on the full length of the table and plus I've been so busy at work...I only get so much free time to myself when I come home 😔😩 My fascinating 1000 pieced jigsaw puzzle design is fully assembled! UK artist, illustrator & writer Una Woodruff was born in 1951, studied art at the Newport College of Art, University of Wales & may reside in Warminster England, but is otherwise a bit of an enigma. Woodruff provided lovely illustrations for Catwitch by Lisa Tuttle in 1983 & Witches by Colin Wilson in 1981 but otherwise created two gem-like illustrated books of fantasy flora & fauna: Inventorum Natura: The Wonderful Voyage of Pliny (1979) & Amarant: The Flora and Fauna of Atlantis by a Lady Botanist (1981) for which she also produced a biographical essay on Lady Elizabeth Hurnshaw, the botanist in question. We have for sale today a copy of Amarant, published by Paper Tiger, hardcover 127p. Woodruff's painted cover & interior illustrations are splendidly realized full colour paintings & b/w line illustrations documenting in imaginative yet crisply rendered detail the natural splendor of the lost continent of Atlants. $40 + shipping. 🎃NOT SO SPOOKY READS 🎃 While organizing my bookshelf recently, I came across these two somewhat scary books for younger readers. === "The Rabbi and the Twenty-Nine Witches" by Marilyn Hirsh, published 1976 🧹 Summary: Once a month a local village is besieged by witches until a rabbi comes up with a plan to banish them for good. 🧹 I was obsessed with this story! My mother found this book at our local library in the mid-1980s, and we checked it out so often that we finally got our own copy. I still reference it today (dancing between raindrops), but whenever I mention it to others, no one seems to have heard of it. 🧹 Like many things you enjoyed as a child, it doesn't completely hold up in modern culture - it's a little misogynist - but overall I'm still charmed by this folktale and try to read it at least once a year. === "Catwitch" by Una Woodruff and Lisa Tuttle, published 1983 🐈⬛ Summary: A cat trained in witchcraft helps a group of fairies save their prince. 🐈⬛ I purchased this a few years ago at a rare bookstore to add to my collection of cat-themed books (a post for another day), but I haven't read it. 🐈⬛ It has a high rating on Goodreads and seems to have been popular in the UK and Canada. Wiping my wish list clean… Has there ever been just one perfume maker that made you question if you even need to have anything else from anyone else? That made you mentally wipe your wish list clean of everything except from this one beautiful creator? Since my last mini haul from @trnp_official I’ve not gone one day without at least a spritz of one of Teone’s beautiful elixirs. I truly believe there’s magic in every perfume and actually there is in a way but I’m keeping that secret. These natural perfumes don’t just make you smell good, if that’s all I cared about I would still be owning 3 bottles of designer fragrances. They don’t just smell unique, or of high quality unusual and stunning materials. They are not just “well blended”. They affect me on a deeper level, they whisper to my soul. They make me feel. I’ve contemplated how I would review Sacred Ground and quite frankly it’s a daunting prospect. Several of the notes listed I don’t know anything about. I could research and try and do a technical breakdown but this perfume deserves better treatment than that. It’s a living breathing piece of natural art. Maybe like Ayers Rock, or closer to my home Stone Henge. To give you an idea it’s a bit sweet, kind of earthy but think terracotta colours. Sometimes makes me think of a spicier flat Coke with a teaspoon of warm honey added, feels like nutmeg and ginger, unsmoked resin, a hint of grated lemon zest hiding underneath. If you’ve tried and loved Embers then I think you’ll adore Sacred Ground, it’s a touch denser (still diffusive though) more complex and less vanillic, but there’s plenty of creamy sandalwood. If you haven’t guessed already this is an out and out love for me. I rate it as highly as Embers and never want to be without it. TRNP are the very best perfumes I’ve ever had the privilege to try and I could honestly give up everything else if I could only have one brand. Continued in comments ⬇️

The streets of Berkeley were especially generous recently, I found this amazing book called Catwitch by Una Woodruff and Lisa Tuttle. (copyright dragons world Limited 1983) It reads like novella even though it’s a picture book! it really makes me wish it was made into a television show. It’s the story of a young kitten found by a cool Witch who raises him up to be her familiar. For this week’s “Story Sunday”, I’m sharing one of my most treasured books in my collection, which is also perfect for this time of year. It is called Catwitch, written by Lisa Tuttle and with absolutely stunning illustrations by Una Woodruff. It was released in 1983 and is the story of a kitten that becomes a witch! 🐈🧙 . I was given this book by some friends of my parents when I was a young child, and it’s absolutely mesmerised me ever since. The story is wonderful, but the illustrations are just absolutely breathtaking, with so much detail to look at. It’s truly one of the most stunning books I own.
