💩 Mudfest at @bikefestivals Willingen 🍺🥉🇩🇪 . It was nice that I made it to the podium because I was very thirsty🍺😜 (Swipe 👉🏻) . At the start I discovered that my dropper was leaking😩🫣 Two options: quit ❌ or see wat the day will bring - sun was shining so why not ☀️😛 . It meant that my saddle was always a lot lower when climbing and it was high when descending🤨. It was actually impossible, but with different positions I was able to find some ways that worked. My back and legs had a bad time🤪 But happy I didn’t give up 😇 . Summary of the track: muddy 💩 with great views 🌲 ❤️ But my bike had a special treatment at the @bikeonscott stand at the festival 🧼 🫧 🚿 . Mallorca Ironman 70.3 - run . I don’t know whether it was the frustration of my penalty in T2 or just the sheer excitement and adrenaline kicking in as you ran past the crowds, but I subconsciously set off a little too quick 😂 even my mum and Clive said they were quite surprised following me on the tracker 🙈 I wasn’t really looking at my watch and my legs felt good so just ran... Probably should have reigned it back a bit! . Well, I say my legs felt good... I did have to stop after only 5 mins to stretch off as I had a bit of quad cramp... But that seemed to sort it so I carried on. . Frustratingly though this wasn’t the last of it as it returned after about 5k and was really quite painful. Stretching this time didn’t do anything, neither did a short walk. At this point I was thinking oh no I’m not going to finish this... But I managed to convince myself to get running - I hadn’t come all this way and put all the hours of training in to not get the medal! Somehow it managed to ease off and I picked the pace back up. Annoyingly though this happened a few more times so I ended up walking through each aid station to give it time to ease off a bit and coincide with pouring water over myself as it was pretty warm! . Overall it was slower than what I thought I was capable of but on reflection I am proud of how I dealt with the situation and pushed through unlike previous races where I have let it get to my head. In hindsight I think I should have had more electrolytes during the race - something to learn from for next time (if I ever actually do another...) . I do wish the finish straight was longer (which sounds a bit weird as most people wish to finish), but I can’t explain the emotions you feel running down that red carpet. I’m not sure I have ever finished a race with such a big grin on my face but tears in my eyes 😂 you can see the look of disbelief on my face in my finisher pic 🥹 . #torqfuelled #easportingchampions

Road World Cup 🇮🇹 After the world champs in Rio I was keen to keep gaining experience on the international circuit and test myself against the best in my category. The TT is usually my strongest event but weather conditions the day prior led to it being shortened to 9.4km, more of a sprint than a TT 😅 still, I managed 4th against all of the main contenders who will shortly be heading to the Paralympic Games. Onto the road race in which the C1-C3 categories were placed together in one bunch. This made the racing completely different and challenging to try and stay with the C3 riders. A mostly flat course with cobbled sections ultimately came down to a bunch sprint with me being distanced in the final straight to finish 4th in my category. I was pleased with this result though as there were only a handful of c2s that managed to stick in the main bunch 💨 Overall I gained vital experience, building toward what I know I can achieve. Wow 🤩 what a busy time it’s been 😅😅 It feels like I haven’t stopped since we moved house in March! Amazingly though I am feeling strong and the training has (mostly) got done! 12 days to go until the European championships! The Scottish weather has been amazing for some full kit and nutrition testing in sweaty conditions (incase these skills are needed). I have had some really interesting learnings this block! Gralloch gravel 🏴🚴🏼♀️ This has taken me a while to write because what may be one of my best ever results, unfortunately, has a bit of a cloud hanging over it for me. An incredible race against an incredible backdrop and on some gorgeous tracks. For my first meaningful race of the year I am really proud of how I rode this and managing to sprint into 10th place was more than I could ever have hoped for and is arguably my best ever result! But unfortunately, on my drive home I received some really abusive messages from someone that wasn't racing which affected me deeply. As female off-road cyclists, it's really hard for us to all make a name for ourselves and I strongly believe in lifting each other up which is why I was encouraging our little escaped trio so much in the final 15km. But this is not respectful racing and it certainly isn't what the sport needs. I have reported the individual to British cycling and I hope anyone that experiences something similar knows that it isn't you, and you can do something about it. I didn't sleep at all on Saturday night but I was eternally grateful to be riding Lead Out on @boltbybashenduro on Sunday morning. Getting back on the mountain bike with fantastic company (even if Andy made me suffer on the climbs!) was exactly the headspace I needed. I've learned a lot this weekend; gravel is so hard but racing the pros on a world stage is incredibly rewarding. But mountainbiking is where my heart and soul is, and while I enjoy the race craft and miles of gravel racing, I'm excited to set my sights firmly on the mountainbike for the rest of the season. Mallorca Ironman 70.3 - bike . Clive asked me before the race which bits I was looking forward to, and alongside the start atmosphere, and of course the finish straight, was the bike. . The mountains in Mallorca will always be special, on a cycle to Formentor lighthouse was where Clive proposed, and we have been here numerous times for cycling holidays. So to get to race here, with views out across the beautiful coastline, snaking your way up and down the mountain and through little villages, is pretty epic. . I knew the route is a tough one having done the main climb a number of times before, so I had a set power in my head to not go too much over and just race my own race, and keep on top of my fuelling and hydration. . Overall I was pretty pleased with how it all went. I still had fairly fresh legs to stick to my planned power after the climb and came back to T2 feeling like I had energy left in the tank for the run. . One massive disappointment though was getting a drafting 5 minute penalty. Really frustrating as it wasn’t intentional and it was almost impossible in parts to keep your distance from other athletes as it was so busy. I am sure there were so many others that got away with it as well 🙄 It did give me chance to stretch off and get my breath back for 5 mins in T2 though... 😂 but honestly those 5 mins were the longest 5 mins ever! . But despite that I loved it. The descent was super fun too - not as scary as I thought it might be on a TT bike having only previously done it on a road bike. Overtook a fair few people on the way down too 💪🏼 . #torqfuelled #easportingchampions

Outlaw Half Nottingham 4:00:24 1st in Age Group and 5th overall 🤛 I didn’t jostle for a front row swim start position like I normally would and this meant I missed the swim pack and ended up swimming through groups and mostly on my own. No idea of my position out on the bike and found one other guy to pace off but stayed well back after my drafting penalty in Holkham last year. @bottrillmatthew and a few others came steaming though at around 22 miles and I was then on my own as didn’t go into the red and chase. I didn’t have the best second half as power and motivation was down. Then I passed a couple of riders that had pushed to hard and were paying the price. A missed turn towards the end cost me around 30 seconds and a sub 4 hour race. Out on the run I worked with @oliver_waymark and we started picking people off, this boosted moral and I found a second gear ( 3x @torqfitness caffeine gels) to increase the pace for the last lap and pass @ollysimon220 going into the age group lead. Pleased to finish strong and gain one final position in the last couple of hundred meters before the orange carpet 😀 Such a good weekend meeting new people and catching up with friends. My comfortable limit on the bike lately has been about 25 miles, anything longer that that just kicks my ass. Well, today I planned a 35 mile gravel ride as part of my fitness training, and because I want to be able to ride longer rides. The first 25 miles were fine, but the few after that I really started to feel, and by the last two miles I was really feeling it. Back to a long run this week. Since it was the first longer run back after two weeks out, I scaled it back by 4 miles again with a couple of @torqfitness gels along the way. Gemma was volunteering at Parkrun, and since there wasn't a need for a pacer at a speed that I felt comfortable running, I decided to run there so she could barcode scan while I watched Harrison. The quads were definitely feeling it by the end, but it felt pretty good overall and the fitness was there to have pushed harder. I'm still listening to my body most of all and not taking any silly risks. Mallorca Ironman 70.3 - swim . Nothing will ever prepare you for the atmosphere and energy at the start of an ironman event, particularly when you’re surrounded by c.3500 other participants on the beach with the sun rising and the organisers giving their motivation speech. . To top it off, I somehow was lucky enough to see Clive, Eloise and mum as I was leaving my pen to go the the waters edge, amongst massive crowds. If I didn’t have tears in my eyes before, I certainly did after getting to hug them! . It was a beach rolling start with 5 athletes set off every 5 seconds. As soon as I got in the water and started swimming I felt great. I tried to really focus on keeping in a straight line and not wasting time and energy swimming off course. It was actually quite interesting how many people seemed to be swimming really wide and far away from the buoys. . I was also surprised at how busy it constantly was. I thought eventually everyone would spread out, but I rarely had clear water and often was battling arms and legs. I’m pretty pleased with how I coped with this and just kept my focus, stood my ground, and tried to find feet to follow where I could. . Having only managed to fit in 1-2 swims per week, I wasn’t expecting record breaking times so to come out with one of my best average swim paces for a post Eloise tri, I was pretty chuffed! . Overall I loved this part of the race. The bay is gorgeous to swim in and the buzz was just incredible 💙 . #torqfuelled #easportingchampions

Mallorca Ironman 70.3 - one of the hardest things physically and mentally I have ever done, but one of the most amazing and rewarding. I’ll do seperate posts for each part (there might be a bit of Ironman spam to come as I am quite proud of this one 😂🙈) #sorrynotsorry But for now, all I can say is just wow! . Juggling training for a half ironman with a 2 year old was not in the original plan... But thanks to Covid and race cancellations, then the arrival of Eloise 🩷, this was what we had to roll with! A big change in direction with training being squeezed in when I could - mainly in the evenings once Eloise had gone to bed, and most of my long rides were back from a family parkrun tourism trip 😂 and often feeling the mum guilt whilst I was out. Accepting I wouldn’t be doing the volumes I once was, but instead doing it for the love of the sport and being the best version of myself and role model for Eloise 💪🏼 I had tears in my eyes as I lined up to start and I had tears in my eyes running down the red carpet (swear I am more soppy since having Eloise 🙈😂). This one did mean a lot though. . A massive thank you to everyone who has been supporting me on the journey here and on the day itself - either in person or virtually. The NCRA handicap series has been very successful for us this year, it’s always a bit luck based depending on time gaps and who’s in what groups but the boys did very well. Chris got 2 3rds coming back from the scratch group, he secured 4th overall. Charlie got 2nd junior in the last race getting some prize money too. Isaac was progressing well throughout being incredibly active in the last race breaking away multiple times. Toby had his first taste of road racing too and was super strong on the hill at Southwick. 2024 isn't going to plan, first ever DNF. Even when I broke my hand I still finished!🫠 It was actually my first flat tyre in a race, got into lap 4 and there was a big rock that appeared on the main line and that was it.🤷♂️ Plugged the tyre and hit it with CO2 but it was too big to seal. Luckily @lowmasswheels seem to have shrugged it off with just a scratch,💪 but I flatted at the opposite side of the course to the pits, so had no choice but to call it a day. Until that point the race was going ok, I knew my form would be off but was a good opportunity to find my feet again. Getting some race experience back, experimenting with some different nutrition and implementing my work with @peakin_high_performance for the first time in anger. Plus the hand was ok, I did get some numbness but no pain or real grip strength issues.✊ Big up @coach_base for helping me get back in the game. So lots of positives despite the DNF and the first step on the ladder to getting back up to speed.
