We don't generally do 'flowers' at the front of the house, but for spring we are enjoying a little splash. That red tulip was supposed to be orange, and even came out of a pack that said T. 'Ballerina'. The colour scheme here is very controlled with just lime (from Euphorbia amygdaloides 'Purpurea', among other spurges) and purple with dots of orange. Beside the surprise red is T. 'Abu Hassan' and the multi-headed Narcissus 'Minnow'. The uprights stems are a dozen Arelia elata that are now opening as umbrellas spread above the planting.

FINALLY my variegated prince of orange is coming back to life! This is a plant I got in a rare rescue mystery box, and it was growing super well at first. Not sure what happened, but it just stopped. I unpotted it, removed a few rotting roots (which probably explains the decline, though I'm not sure what caused them to rot), and potted it up in some moss. I'm not sure how long ago that was - at least a month or two. Well, the little leaf that's been sitting there for a very long time is finally starting to unfurl and grow. This would have been a devastating loss, knowing what these plants are worth. I have this Hoya icensis (patcharawalai) on a top shelf, so I didn't realize how big his leaves were getting. That subtle light veining on semi-glossy deep green leaves is just beautiful. It does have dark margins, but I don't think I'm giving it the light intensity that would make those margins really pop. Seriously look at how many flowers my lipstick has! I don't think I've ever seen this many on my plant before. I originally had this plant right in a west facing window and it did okay. But it was getting really sun-stressed, like excessively, and it wasn't good for her. So I moved her to an east facing window instead. And she did this! I think she is much happier now. โบ๏ธ You can self-pollinate lipstick flowers and they'll grow seed pods. Be careful though, cuz eventually they'll bust open and the tiny seeds will fly everywhere. ๐ I've learned that one from experience. A no ID Walmart purchase with nice purple foliage that I thought might look good in an enclosed terrarium. Well it struggled, and then when I moved the terrarium to an area with more light, the purple leaves bleached a sickly red and yellow. It was going to be a discard, but fast forward a year, it gives me this lovely bright pink flower. Google Lens was able to identify it as Episcia Pink Panther, and apparently it grows into a nice trailing plant.
