In observance of World Immunization Week, a heart-warming Baby Show program was organized at Umsohsun UPHC in Mylliem Block of Shillong, Meghalaya. Over 40 participants attended the program including healthcare service providers, parents and caregivers. During the program, a detailed discussion was also done on the importance of Routine Immunization and identified 4 LODOR cases that were educated and encouraged to get their child vaccinated at the next RI session as per the schedule. As a token of appreciation, Special Baby care kits were provided to 3 children, for their commitment to timely and full immunization. In observance of World Immunization Week, ISRN hosted an awareness cum educational drawing competition for children aged 6 to 15 years at the Madhya Pratapgarh UPHC in Agartala, Tripura. Nineteen children, accompanied by their parents or guardians, took part in the event. The program was organized in collaboration with staff of UPHC Madhya Pratapgarh, including the Medical Officer In-charge, Medical Office, ASHAs, AWWs, and JSI team. During the event, an awareness session was also organized emphasizing the significance of Routine Immunization and the advantages of timely vaccination, encouraging the children to become Vaccine Ambassadors to enhance vaccine coverage. Subsequently, a drawing competition allowed children to creatively illustrate the importance of vaccination. Trophies were awarded to the top three participants, while consolation prizes were given to remaining children for their participation. The inauguration, led by CMO Kohima, was attended by 30 participants alongside various dignitaries including the DIO, Deputy Director-UIP, Ward/PRI Leaders, Health Unit Staff, and the project team. The ceremony commenced with a prayer led by Head GB Porterlane, followed by commendations from CMO Kohima towards the Health Unit Staff and the project team for their dedication in transitioning UPHC into MIC. ISRN organized a Baby Show program at Sohryngkham Sub-Centre in the Mawryngkneng block under East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya. The program was attended by key healthcare personnel including the Chief Medical Officer of Mawryngkneng Community Health Centre, Community Health Officer, Auxiliary Nurse Midwife, ASHA as well as parents and caregivers. The event drew 44 participants, during which 6 Fully Immunized Children were honoured and felicitated for completing their full immunization schedule on time. Additionally, 8 beneficiaries overdue for vaccination were identified and provided with counselling, urging them to attend the next vaccination session as per the scheduled microplan for their area. The program highlighted the collaborative effort of healthcare providers and community members in promoting child health and ensuring immunization coverage, which is crucial for preventing diseases and safeguarding the well-being of children. The ISRN, in collaboration with the RAHEE Group as part of its CSR initiative, is dedicated to elevating Government Schools in the Haridwar region to Uttam Schools status. Our focus is on ensuring inclusive, equitable education opportunities in line with SDG 4. The Uttam School Project endeavours towards the upliftment of learning standards in underserved and rural Indian communities by implementing infrastructural enhancements and improving health and hygiene standards in selected schools. As per the need assessment report, Shri Mithilesh Sanatan Dharm Inter College in Kankhal, Haridwar had drinking water platforms but in dilapidated conditions with broken taps that needed urgent renovation. However, as safe drinking water contributes to creating a conducive learning environment, ISRN took up the issue with utmost urgency. Therefore, under the Uttam School Project, a safe drinking water station has been installed at the Kankhal School with the primary aim of safeguarding students against the risks of dehydration, gastrointestinal ailments, and waterborne illnesses. In Nagaland, #internationalwomensday2024 was observed at two distinct locations. The first event took place in the conference hall of the Government High School in Dihoma village of Jakhama block, marking the village's first Women's Day celebration. A significant turnout of 60 women actively participated in discussions emphasizing the significance of Women's Day, women's participation in decision-making, routine immunization (RI), and its implications, as well as various health services and facilities available at the Health and Wellness Centre. The Chief Health Officer (CHO), Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM), and Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) received well-deserved appreciation certificates during the program, acknowledging their invaluable contributions in the immunization services. Simultaneously, another program was conducted at the AG Community Hall, Kohima, drawing 59 women participants from diverse organizations and societies. The discussions revolved around the health and nutrition of mothers and children, immunization and 12 vaccine-preventable diseases. The theme for Women's Day, 'Inspire Inclusion,' echoed throughout the discussions. The program also featured felicitation of ANM and ASHA for their invaluable contribution in immunization services. Following the enlightening discussions, a RI session was conducted, where two dropout cases were successfully vaccinated, contributing to the broader efforts in safeguarding women and children's health in Nagaland. International Women's Day serves as a crucial platform to not only applaud the accomplishments of women but also to highlight their instrumental role in healthcare, particularly in the context of routine immunization. As we invest in women, we accelerate progress not only in gender equality but also in ensuring the health and well-being of communities through strengthened immunization initiatives. ISRN team in Tripura observed International Women's Day at the office of the Chief Medical Officer in West Tripura, Agartala. In the program, 23 women health champions were honoured for their dedicated support towards routine immunization. The program was attended by 33 participants including District Immunization Officer, Chief Medical Officer, RI Nodal Officers, Community Health Officers, ASHA facilitators and JSI team. ISRN convened a sensitization meeting for FBO leaders at the office of the Department of Health Services (DHS) in collaboration with the Health Department of Meghalaya state. The purpose of the gathering was to brief leaders from seven Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs) about the upcoming IPPI campaign, scheduled to commence on 4th March till 6th March 2024. Representatives from the National and State team from ISRN and JSI participated in the meeting. Chaired by the State Immunization Officer (SIO), the meeting successfully engaged FBO leaders from diverse denominations. Notably, the event included the officials unveiling of IPPI/RI campaign flyers, a joint effort facilitated by JSI and ISRN in the presence of the SIO, WHO, UNICEF, UNDP officials and Faith-Based Organization Leaders at the Office of the Director of Health Services, Meghalaya. In Tripura, ISRN organized a comprehensive Training Program for health workers at the Conference Hall of the Chief Medical Officer, aimed at enhancing Routine Immunization coverage in the district. Dr. Ishita Guha, District Immunization Officer-West Tripura, lauded the initiative and underscored its importance, highlighting the detailed discussion on the RI micro plan. Dr. Narendra Kumbhare, SPM-JSI focused on various aspects of Routine Immunization including headcount surveys, due list preparation, session plans, injection loads, vaccine distribution plans, logistics estimation and sub-center-wise work plans. The training concluded with an interactive Q&A session, allowing participants to address their queries and further enrich their understanding of Routine Immunization. ISRN and the CMO Office, Kohima, teamed up for 2 impactful Health Camps in Nagaland, promoting community well-being. The Kijiimetouma Health & Wellness Centre in Jakhama block witnessed an enthusiastic turnout of 28 participants, where health officials shared vital insights on daily health practices and stressed the importance of Routine Immunization for preventive care. Emphasizing the crucial role of community support for local health facilities, the camp also screened 20 beneficiaries for non-communicable diseases and provided ANC services. The team's proactive approach extended to Ward-1, High School Colony Community Hall, where after mobilizing five colonies and conducting house-to-house IPC, another Health Camp was held. The team, through an immunization booth, vaccinated 13 beneficiaries, including three dropouts. Additionally, they assisted in weighing children, conveyed four key messages to parents, and highlighted the significance of child immunization and IPC to pregnant women. ISRN organized a Focused Group Discussion meeting at the Majlishpur Health and Wellness Center in the Jirania block of West Tripura. The primary objective of the meeting was to address the challenges hindering the Routine Immunization services. Recently, a farmer-integrated training session was organised by ISRN and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) for ISRN-promoted and NAFED-supported FPOs in Sitapur district, Uttar Pradesh. The intensive training session addressed important themes such as - awareness about climate-friendly agricultural practices (such as using natural fertilizers, benefits of Beejamrit and Jeevamrit), technological gaps to be bridged between the farmers and various institutions, novel techniques and technologies of agriculture and the importance of Training of Trainer (TOT) Programmes.
