In observance of World Immunization Week, a heart-warming Baby Show program was organized at Umsohsun UPHC in Mylliem Block of Shillong, Meghalaya. Over 40 participants attended the program including healthcare service providers, parents and caregivers. During the program, a detailed discussion was also done on the importance of Routine Immunization and identified 4 LODOR cases that were educated and encouraged to get their child vaccinated at the next RI session as per the schedule. As a token of appreciation, Special Baby care kits were provided to 3 children, for their commitment to timely and full immunization. The Cause ambassador of Meghalaya, Ms.Evanissa also attended the program and interacted with the beneficiaries to make them understand the benefits of preventing 12 diseases by adhering to the immunization schedule. In observance of World Immunization Week, ISRN hosted an awareness cum educational drawing competition for children aged 6 to 15 years at the Madhya Pratapgarh UPHC in Agartala, Tripura. Nineteen children, accompanied by their parents or guardians, took part in the event. The program was organized in collaboration with staff of UPHC Madhya Pratapgarh, including the Medical Officer In-charge, Medical Office, ASHAs, AWWs, and JSI team. During the event, an awareness session was also organized emphasizing the significance of Routine Immunization and the advantages of timely vaccination, encouraging the children to become Vaccine Ambassadors to enhance vaccine coverage. Subsequently, a drawing competition allowed children to creatively illustrate the importance of vaccination. Trophies were awarded to the top three participants, while consolation prizes were given to remaining children for their participation. In Kohima, Nagaland, at Model Immunization Center (MIC)- UPHC Porterlane, an orientation session was conducted, attended by 15 healthcare workers comprising of GNMs and ANMs. Facilitated by the MO of UPHC Porterlane, along with DIO and SPM-JSI as resource persons, the session covered crucial topics including the introduction to MIC, working group committees, structure and processes, communication strategies, recording, reporting, exit surveys, and future strategies. ISRN organized a Baby Show program at Sohryngkham Sub-Centre in the Mawryngkneng block under East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya. The program was attended by key healthcare personnel including the Chief Medical Officer of Mawryngkneng Community Health Centre, Community Health Officer, Auxiliary Nurse Midwife, ASHA as well as parents and caregivers. The event drew 44 participants, during which 6 Fully Immunized Children were honoured and felicitated for completing their full immunization schedule on time. Additionally, 8 beneficiaries overdue for vaccination were identified and provided with counselling, urging them to attend the next vaccination session as per the scheduled microplan for their area. The program highlighted the collaborative effort of healthcare providers and community members in promoting child health and ensuring immunization coverage, which is crucial for preventing diseases and safeguarding the well-being of children. The first event was held at Mawrynkneng CHC, where a discussion took place on the pivotal role of women in immunization and the significance of Women's Day. In Nagaland, #internationalwomensday2024 was observed at two distinct locations. The first event took place in the conference hall of the Government High School in Dihoma village of Jakhama block, marking the village's first Women's Day celebration. A significant turnout of 60 women actively participated in discussions emphasizing the significance of Women's Day, women's participation in decision-making, routine immunization (RI), and its implications, as well as various health services and facilities available at the Health and Wellness Centre. The Chief Health Officer (CHO), Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM), and Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) received well-deserved appreciation certificates during the program, acknowledging their invaluable contributions in the immunization services. Simultaneously, another program was conducted at the AG Community Hall, Kohima, drawing 59 women participants from diverse organizations and societies. The discussions revolved around the health and nutrition of mothers and children, immunization and 12 vaccine-preventable diseases. The theme for Women's Day, 'Inspire Inclusion,' echoed throughout the discussions. The program also featured felicitation of ANM and ASHA for their invaluable contribution in immunization services. International Women's Day serves as a crucial platform to not only applaud the accomplishments of women but also to highlight their instrumental role in healthcare, particularly in the context of routine immunization. ISRN convened a sensitization meeting for FBO leaders at the office of the Department of Health Services (DHS) in collaboration with the Health Department of Meghalaya state. The purpose of the gathering was to brief leaders from seven Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs) about the upcoming IPPI campaign, scheduled to commence on 4th March till 6th March 2024. Representatives from the National and State team from ISRN and JSI participated in the meeting. Chaired by the State Immunization Officer (SIO), the meeting successfully engaged FBO leaders from diverse denominations. In Tripura, ISRN organized a comprehensive Training Program for health workers at the Conference Hall of the Chief Medical Officer, aimed at enhancing Routine Immunization coverage in the district. Dr. Ishita Guha, District Immunization Officer-West Tripura, lauded the initiative and underscored its importance, highlighting the detailed discussion on the RI micro plan. Dr. Narendra Kumbhare, SPM-JSI focused on various aspects of Routine Immunization including headcount surveys, due list preparation, session plans, injection loads, vaccine distribution plans, logistics estimation and sub-center-wise work plans. The training concluded with an interactive Q&A session, allowing participants to address their queries and further enrich their understanding of Routine Immunization. This training will equip these health workers to effectively implement immunization programs, contributing to disease prevention and community health. Additionally, it will also enhance the skills needed to address vaccine hesitancy, ultimately promoting high vaccination coverage and safeguarding public health.
