Today I'm praying for godly priorities. Too many things can compete to confuse our purpose. Not every good door is a God door. How do we differentiate? It's important to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit and exercise discernment. In this passage in 1 Corinthians 2, Paul was urging them to keep it simple. Their love of sophisticated rhetoric and just straight-up showing off had caused them to lose sight of the main thing--Christ and Him crucified. "For I resolved to know nothing (to be acquainted with nothing, to make a display of the knowledge of nothing, and to be conscious of nothing) among you except Jesus Christ (the Messiah) and Him crucified." 1 Corinthians 2:2 AMPC So today I set my heart to keeping the main thing the MAIN thing. Let me not be distracted or turned to the right or to the left. #Repost @evangelist_beaudene_schmidt ・・・ I received the word of knowledge "Potsherd" this morning. A potsherd is a broken piece of ceramic material, often found on an archaeological site. Isaiah 64:8 KJV But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand. I reflected on the condition of the soul before covenant and how it is like a shattered vessel that now needs repairing. The fruit of iniquity needs to be removed and the fruit of Christ must now be birthed in the soul for us to reflect the image of our Father. God is the only One that has the ability to repair the soul (broken vessel). We experience the process of regeneration and the renewing of the mind as we daily labour with Him. A saint shared a vision many years ago where she saw a broken vessel that was put back together, so much so that you couldn't even see where the cracks of the broken pieces were. This is the miracle of regeneration which we daily partake of because we are in covenant with God. The word potsherd also reminded me of how we are all individual pieces of a whole. We proceeded from the Bosom of the Father and will return to Him soon. I know there is also a Chinese method for repairing broken pottery using gold called Kintsukuroi. This reminds me of how the Spirit overlays our signature (wood) with His (gold). "Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall." - Proverbs:16 vs 18 Pride hijacks the focus from loving thy neighbour to competing and comparing and one starts to credit themselves with their accomplishments. When one let's sinful pride take over, they forget God created man and woman equally but different, with great gifts, purposes and treats us justly. "For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world." - I John: 2 vs 16. Pride is at the heart of bullying and entitlement. It’s deceptive tendency leaves a wake of destruction. The very nature of human conflict is rooted in elements of pride. Proverbs: 13 vs 10 says, “Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is found in those who take advice." Don't let pride destroy you, there is hope, use wisdom, don't be deceived by the lies of the world and look to Jesus for there is forgiveness and healing in Him. "But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” - James: 4 vs 6. Pride at its very core is just self-centeredness, it is how satan accesses people. It is his inroad into people's lives. Pray - Ask God to reveal and remove pride from the heart, mind and your life. Read the Word - In order to hear God, we have to listen. This happens through the reading of His word. Do what it says - Obedience ushers blessing into our lives. Gratefulness and generosity keeps pride away. Look for the right connections - God faithfully connects His Word to our lives daily to prepare and sanctify our hearts. He places people purposefully in our lives. Repent and repeat - Repetition can build strong habits and healthy life practices. Faith is a daily discipline. We need discernment to accurately tell the difference between good and evil. The enemy often wraps evil with good, making it hard to tell the difference unless we are led by the Holy Spirit. Not all that seems good is from God because it's actually evil and not from God, don't be deceived, there are major deceptions in the world today where many see evil as good and good as evil. Beware of some so-called leaders as well, they are very deceptive in many ways, not all are actually for you, they have their own agendas, don't fall into the trap of the enemy. I rememeber reading a book by John Bevere ’Good or God’ where he talked about how the Spirit of God challenged how he (the author) measured his standard of good. As God was challenging him he said ’Son, it wasn't the evil side of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that Eve was drawn to. It was the good side.’ I don't know about you but that blows my mind. I can recall very many moments where good interfered with God's plan for my life. Even the ’righteous’ part of ourselves cannot carry out the will of God. It is only by Him and through Him that we can live a Godly life and have a deep relationship with Him. I’m starting this page because I’m on a journey of laying down all of me, including what is considered to be good in exchange for truth.... for having a deep authentic relationship with Jesus and becoming more like Him every second, and I’d like you to join me.
