#Fall in North America means crisp weather, cozy hoodies, yummy soup, and a new variant of #COVID. Since 2020, part of every group text debrief and download after big public events is checking in to see who got the 'vid. Sadly, a #burgerbdball Bridesmaid just tested positive, confirmed by a visit to urgent care. Although two of us have had sniffles and general oogies for the last week or so, the rest of us have tested negative. Small mercies are all we have, friends. I've already begun to #MaskUp again in public spaces like grocery stores and I plan to get my #COVID #Booster when I get my flu shot this year. I think we all need to accept the very real possibility that COVID is here to stay, at least for the foreseeable future. I have declined jobs, who are not willing to pay me my worth as well as I have worked jobs that has humilited me because they felt like being an "Essential Worker" was like being a superhero! I am not a superhero, I am human, and I take care of peoples family memebers, those who dont get visits, that dont get calls. I sacrificed my time spending with my babies, to work a unglorified and underpaid job! During the pandemic (Since 2020) for the 1st time in my career, I have finally seen the gov't pay us our worth which is $20+ an hr.....I am happy to be helping someone, but we need more representation because this is not an easy job..... The thing people dont realize, you too can be the very one in that hospital, nursing home, outpatient services that a CNA is taking care of you and making sure you stay alive! It's been a tough couple of days. There's such divide, hate and misunderstanding going on in the world right now. I wish I can change that, but I can only control my actions and things that I do have control over. What I am in control of: 1. Educating: When someone tries to use fake facts, I use my knowledge on the subject to educate. They may not agree but I at least know I am speaking the truth. 2. Say No: I am in charge of my own health . I will not put myself in risky situations or allow myself to be manipulated or guilt tripped into situations where I feel unsafe. Ultimately this will help keep everyone around me safe. 3. Vote: I will be voting and this will be our #1 way to change the lies, ignorance, arrogance and division in our country. Today is my first night back to work after being gone for three weeks. In July, I got tested for Covid-19 and the results came back positive. I am so fortunate that I did not require hospitalization or have any critical symptoms, and I am well now. I was conflicted with sharing this information, but believe it’s important that people realize Covid-19 is still relevant. We have all lost something during this time, whether it was a loved one, a job, or our sanity. I know we all are having to adapt during this time, but want to remind people to continue implementing safe practices and to wear your mask not just for you but for the well being of others. Thank you everyone for your constant love and support during this time! I am so thankful to be cleared to go back to work and for my health. Walking in to tonight’s shift with a clear mind and grateful heart.
