Time in sacred practice✨🙏 Was able to sit up for a short while this morning, so took the opportunity to consult the I Ching. I used this coin that typically rests on my ancestral altar. The hexagram that resulted from the coin tossing, and the relevant line was so very resonant, encouraging, and practical in terms of both next steps and outcomes. A bit later, I pulled out Cat Aura Tarot and Chakra Healing Tarot decks (I fully believe in multi-deck readings!) and gathered some excellent insights. The first two positions were action-focused questions, and the final position was the outcome. One of the reasons I believe in using multiple decks is that you allow for different perspectives on each question or card position, AND you allow for nuanced or distinct answers to important but separate aspects of each question. For example, what ended up happening is that Cat Aura Tarot in positions 1 and 2 (7 of Chalices and Knight of Swords) gave advice for what to do about future-related stuff, and Chakra Healing Tarot in these same positions (3 of Wands and 10 of Wands) gave advice for how to handle existing/past-related stuff. Talk about specific advice! The outcome cards were perfect. The 5 of Pentacles spoke to mutual comfort and safety during a difficult time (no kidding 😅) and the Queen of Wands was the third Wands card of three from CHT! 7 of cups!!! 🍵🦋💭 To me, this card is about history, imagination, & our shadow😶🌫️ To put it simply, & in the words of the two davids - graeber & wengrow - who wrote the 900+ pg history book “The Dawn of Everything” (2021), “Lack of imagination itself is not an argument.” 🚨🚨 I once had a friend say that the reality of someone is almost always /more/ interesting than your fantasy of them, bc reality is filled with more quirks and human inconsistencies than our imaginations account for. Our species’ behavior is strange, creative, & ridiculous, yet mentally we simplify each other in order to streamline patterns and maintain social coherence. The davids document this well in their book, outlining how historians can fall into traps of circular reasoning whereby past human systems are studied in order to justify or make sense of current human systems. For ex, the presence of special items across cultures is assumed to have been passed through “trade” or “markets” - but this takes for granted other motivations humans have outside of economy. Thus, an inability to picture life beyond your own framework demonstrates weak, circular reasoning, full of logical fallacies, lol; a sharp mind usually = mental flexibility. & this is what the 7 of cups makes me think of! A dull (anxious) mind choosing from options it has already been presented by the world in order to maintain its own social coherence. But what it doesn’t realize is that there is another, unseen choice: imagine differently! In Earthsea, the main character Ged is a wizard hunted by a shadow. His actions are driven by fleeing from this violent monster, leading him into increasingly dangerous situations. Only when Ged decides to stop running & name the shadow as himself - to hunt the hunter - does he finally achieve freedom. In the 7 of cups, you’ll notice that the man in the card is a silhouette - suggesting that it is his shadow which is doing the choosing! In this way, Imagination is confrontation of our shadow. Imagination is disruption of coherence; it is a self-authoring which deepens Reasoning - ultimately transforming your fear into your liberation. Faith in unseen > fear of unknown.

5 March 2024 7 of Cups ~ Did you know that we make an average of 35,000 decisions each & every day? No wonder we're so tired by the end as all those choices can definitely be overwhelming to say the least. Some of the choices we face every day don't seem like that big of a deal. When to get out of bed, what to wear for the day, what to eat, what to do, where to go, the list goes on & on & on & on. The 7 of Cups relates to these choices, but being the 7 of the suit of emotional happiness & fulfillment, the choices it represents are likely more than just the day after day decisions we face daily. The character in the illustration faces 7 Cups each with potential for joy, potential for more than what they may have experienced before. Are we facing something similar? A choice, perhaps, that can change our lives for the better, making them more joyful than before? While the daily routine, what to eat, what to wear, aren't all that emotionally fulfilling, the choices represented by the 7 of Cups can be. We see beauty, mystery, danger, transformation, & wisdom, wealth, castles, success, & even fantasy. This is where the energy of the 7 really comes in. Those everyday choices, we're used to them, make them day after day. What we eat today, well that will be different tomorrow. What to wear?
