Nike opened their 66,500-square-foot Niketown New York in 1996 on a site formerly occupied by the Bonwit Teller department store and later, after its demise, by Galeries Lafayette. The existing building was demolished to make way for a five-story building with a French department store-style central lightwell. I attended the @thevintageshow yesterday with a friend. We scored a few amazing items. This time around was much better than the October 2023 show. I couldn’t resist a lace bomber jacket by @selfportraittaiwan which was a steal @vintageblacklabel. They are based in #HudsonNY. Their selection is incredible so check them out. Self Portrait is based out of London and designer Han Chong is known for incorporating beautiful lace work into his designs. Though not vintage, it doesn’t matter. I had to have it. There was lots of #Moschino to found. I love Moschino from the 80s and 90s, especially the black leather jacket with pearl closure change purses fastened to the front of the jacket. Amazing. How adorable are the 1920s perfume bottles with wood hand painted women’s heads? I love attending this show because not only are we supporting vintage stores and businesses but the people watching is spectacular. I overhead that the stylists from Sex and the City ( And Just Like That) come in VIP within the first hour the show starts and cart off dozens of items. Yes they bring rolling carts. The next show is in July. After the show we love noshing @motelmorris one block away.
